Although I’m not sure how accurate I’d be. I know that the strongest characters on here are probably Abaddon and Ragnaris, and they both have health a bit less than 2,000 health, if I remember correctly, though Abaddon has only ever fought once, against Ragnaris. most characters have health somewhere in the high hundreds, if I remember correctly.*
*I would like that. I was originally going to make a character with 888 HP because I thought that was a sufficiently terrifying number, but Himy and Jester both told me it was a lot, even for a character who can't heal.*
*i don’t think that’s too much… but I suppose it’s on the higher end. I think the best characters are around the 500 range but with a clever or fun gimmick that can keep them safe. Like, I had an idea for turning Tarcza and Zarznac into characters here, who both only have about 400 health, but cannot die unless the other does the same round.*

*wooooh that’s a lot. When I made Scylla, I bent the rules in just one place which let her have… six heads instead of two. She still spent feats on it, of course, but it meant she could do a minimum of half of your character’s max hp, and at most 400 more than all of the Max hp. It was scary.*

*What about a character who removes his foes' attack rolls, forcing them to auto-hit without a chance to miss or crit?*
*They'd have to have at least double the standard HP to account for the typical 50% chance to hit that usually exists.*

*As an analogy: Like catching your opponent's bullets in your revolver, then dry-clicking at yourself to cycle the rounds until you end up shooting yourself in order to make room for more shots.*

*I think that's a cool idea. Combined with my "minimal rolls" character concept, perhaps he creates the bodies (hereby referred to as minions) by infusing them with HP. Maybe that's how he gains buffs: he gives each debuff to a minion, each of which can hold two. The debuffs do nothing until the minion is killed, at which point they are applied to him directly, ignoring which body he's in. He can have a total of four bodies at once, and each one must hold at least one debuff if he's not presently possessing it. After two rounds, a debuff is depleted (they are depleted one at a time in each body) and removed from play, and if a body starts its turn without a debuff, it dies, taking all its HP and its additional action with it.*
*Stigmata would need an ability to apply statuses to himself to be really effective, though... Maybe he just sets himself on fire for DOT.*

*Born to Suffer and Die. All attacks automatically hit Stigmata and he automatically fails all saving throws. At the start of his turn, whatever body he is inhabiting gains one stack of Deterioration.
Unique Status: Deterioration. For every stack of Deterioration, you take 10 true damage at the end of your turn. This damage cannot be prevented or reduced, as it is your very being dissolving into the ether, rejected by the basic laws of the reality you exist in. Whenever you take damage from Deterioration, lose one stack of it.*
Aerial Acrobatics. While the dragon is moving through the air using its fly speed or hovering 30 feet or more off the ground, creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls against it.
Amphibious. The dragon can breathe air and water.
Ancient Might. The dragon adds its proficiency bonus to the damage of its natural weapons (already calculated). When the dragon would roll a 1-2 on its damage rolls for its natural weapon attacks or its breath weapon, it instead rolls a 3.
Blessing of the Platinum Dragon. Any critical hit against the dragon becomes a normal hit.
Energy Damage. When the dragon would deal Energy damage, it picks from one of the damage types it is resistant or immune to except for B/P/S damage.
Invincible. When you succeed on a Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution saving throw and would suffer an effect or damage on a success, the dragon instead suffers no effect.
Keeled Scales. The dragon starts off combat with 120 temp hp. It regains all lost temp hp granted by this feature during a long rest.
Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Life Draining Toxins. Poison damage dealt by the dragon bypass resistances and Immunities.
Timeless Sentinel. The dragon no longer ages naturally and suffers no penalty from aging, and the dragon no longer needs to sleep.
Actions
Multiattack. The dragon uses its Terrifying Presence. It then makes five attacks: two with its bite, two with its claws, and one with its tail. Can replace both bite attacks with a use of Slowing Breath if available.
Bite.Melee Attack Roll: +28, reach 30 ft. Hit: 47 (3d12 + 28) Piercing damage plus 21 (6d6) Energy damage.
Tail.Melee Attack Roll: +28, reach 45 ft. Hit: 55 (6d8 + 28) Bludgeoning or Slashing damage and the target must make a DC 36 Strength saving throw, being pushed 60 feet away and knocked prone on a failure.
Energy Breath (Recharge 6). Dexterity Saving Throw: DC 36, each creature in a 160-foot Cone. Failure: 440 (80d10) Energy Damage. Success: Half damage.
Slowing Breath (Recharge 6). Constitution Saving Throw: DC 36, each creature in a 160-foot Cone. Failure: The target can't take Reactions; its Speed is halved; and it can’t make more than one attack on its turn. In addition, it can take either an Action or a Bonus Action on its turn, not both. This effect lasts for 1 minute. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turn, ending the effect on a success.
Terrifying Presence. Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 36, each creature in a mile of the dragon. Failure: The target is frightened of the dragon for 1 hour. If the target fails against the DC by 10 or more, the target’s speed becomes 0 while suffering from the Frightened condition from this effect. If the target fails the DC by 20 or more, the target is knocked unconscious at 1 hp.
Creatures immune to the Frightened condition are still affected by the dragon’s Terrifying Presence, rolling the saving throw at advantage.
The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of their turn, ending the condition on a save. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon's Terrifying Presence for the next 24 hours unless they were knocked unconscious by the effect.
Reactions
The dragon can take up to two reactions a round, but only one per turn.
Reactive Bite. When the dragon is attacked or forced to make a saving throw by a creature within 30 feet of itself, the dragon can make a bite attack against it.
Legendary Actions
Legendary Action Uses: 3. Immediately after another creature's turn, The dragon can expend a use to take one of the following actions. The dragon regains all expended uses at the start of each of its turns.
Pounce. The dragon moves up to half its Speed, and it makes one claw attack.
Whipping tail. The Dragon makes a tail attack.
Overpowering Assault (Costs 2). The dragon gathers its strength for a mighty strike. The next attack the dragon makes with its natural weapon deals triple damage on a hit. This benefit lasts until the end of the dragon’s next turn or until it scores a hit, whichever comes first.
*I'm aware that this is quite overtuned. Let me know how I should reel him in to be more reasonable.*
*Woah. I thought having 600-700 was a lot. Over 3,000 is (I’m gonna be saying this word a lot) a bit absurd*
Yo, I'm Himy (He/him) not as active as I use to be, but I'm here from time to time. I don't got much else to say.
"From the stars of the inner sea, from the tower of insight, from the four corners of paradise, let them know; their story is filled with blessings. Only those free of sin may pass... Garden of Avalon!”
”The elements coalesce, amalgamate, and bring forth the star that interweaves all creation. Bow down with death! Enuma Elish!”
*Along with the 3/4 chance to simply do nothing*

*wooooh that’s a lot. When I made Scylla, I bent the rules in just one place which let her have… six heads instead of two. She still spent feats on it, of course, but it meant she could do a minimum of half of your character’s max hp, and at most 400 more than all of the Max hp. It was scary.*
*I think I made the mistake of thinking that many of the other characters here had stupid hp because of how crazy some of the other battles have been, plus the amount of damage I've seen some characters do is also crazy.
I'll probably knock the hp down to be closer to Abaddon and Ragnaris at most since his defenses and saves are really good and he hits really hard with his breath and physical attacks.*

*then Abaddon might have to have one more fight… Abaddon, by the way, is a mass debuff/damage dealer, while his
boyfriendbodyguard Astaroth is an immortal meat shield. I believe Abaddon is the only character so far that has beaten Ragnaris in a fair fight.**That's a cool idea. I'll write that down.*
*So for my notes I have:
500 or so HP, gimmick to prevent death
Wide variety of moves to use
Resource pool*
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.
*Most characters I’ve made (and to an extent jester, as we have made similar characters) either have regeneration/ some form of self healing, someway to avoid or redirect damage, or a bunch of resistances. So for long slugfests, it look like they have a crazy amount of hp, but in reality, high burst damage can take them out. At least from what Ive seen*

*Abbadon would probably end up beating this dragon since he has no spells or means of healing or regenerating like Ragnaris. He using the Knight subclass of dragon, so mostly just focuses on hitting things really hard barbarian style. He has a few tweaks to make him a bit more sturdy and hit harder but otherwise he is a straight brute. Plus he has two heads, because I apparently want all my cool dragon characters to also be part hydra. lol*

*maybe, if you are still going with your original idea of an avatar of you that summons nightmare creatures to fight with it, dissipating after they’re used, maybe they can use those creatures as a resource? And if they are knocked to 0 hp, they can keep on fighting by body snatching any of them that are left?*
*ooh, it seems I missed that fight. Abaddon V. Ragnaris was pretty close too, but Abaddon has a feature that gets stronger every time it’s used, which allowed them to wear down Ragnaris after a few rounds.*
*What about a character who removes his foes' attack rolls, forcing them to auto-hit without a chance to miss or crit?*
*They'd have to have at least double the standard HP to account for the typical 50% chance to hit that usually exists.*
*Perhaps they would also auto-fail saves, but be able to change non-damage effects into buffs? Like, they ignore up to a certain amount of effects and gain buffs based on how many they have, but they cycle through them and replace them, gaining the first one they suffered to negate the last one.*

*ooh, this is absolutely awesome.*

Claw.Melee Attack Roll: +28, reach 20 ft. Hit: 41 (2d12 + 28) Slashing damage.
