"Locals call me Boss Moribund, but really I'm not even Underboss yet." He chuckles, more of a giggle due to his high-pitched voice. "This place makes good money, and I swooped in before anyone else could."
'Boss of what, if you don't mind me asking?'
"Lieutenant of the Struktura Group. My branch specializes in the mobilization of assets. We can move non-sentient goods without any issues involving tarrifs or embargoes, due to arrangements with local governments."
'Sounds... interesting. In a good way. Can't even quite believe you've been able to locate a 'local government' here. Yes, we all serve the Baron and all that, but come on, he's not here, is he? He's probably dead in a ditch somewhere'

"Well, we didn't need to contact the Baron directly. We just sent a message up the chain of command, and Struktura Group could begin its operation without any restrictions. Of course, we do need to pay rather high taxes, but being able to ship anything anywhere makes it more than worth it." He takes a bite of his waffles. "These really are good."

'Sounds like a solid business model. And yeah, the waffles here are good. Maybe almost too good, I don't know. You hear about the new funding for Stroop's refinery?'

"No, actually!" He takes out his own notebook. "My work often keeps me so busy that I fall behind on current events outside of it. Could you tell me more about this?"
The barkeeper, a huge, disfigured man in a neat white uniform, asks if he wants to buy anything
A man in a black suit is sat at the bar. He appears to be taking notes
“Give me something salty, I’m tired of sweet.” He walks over to the man in the suit and sits next to him, but doesn’t start a conversation
'Something salty? Well, how about some Leviathan sushi? There's a real savoury kick there, they say there's nothing else like it.'
“Spent all day mining that stuff. If it’s all you have-“ he stops and takes out a handkerchief, coughing into it loudly, “-then I suppose that’ll do.”
'Perfect, one sushi, coming right up'. The bartender nods, and a hunk of meat is taken out from the back room. He slices wriggling slivers off of the thing, prepares them, and hands them on a board to the customer. 'Used to be my favourite, back in the day'
“Hm. What happened to change your mind?” He asks, before taking one of the sushis and eating it whole
The sushi does not resist, in fact, it goes down remarkably easily for something that is able to move. 'You ever heard of too much of a good thing?'
“All the time. It’s what happened to me with Syrup.” *gtg*
*backkkk*
'Same. Got sick from it, couldn't mine anymore, but luckily for me this job here opened up. So yeah, I don't blame you'
“You worked in the mines?”

"Hmm... I imagine they won't be able to preserve the flavor compounds perfectly..." He starts scribbling notes.
'I can well believe that. Half the power is in the taste, so they say. But yeah, there's been a bunch of new supply trucks heading to the refinery, marked Stable Yield Nutrient or something like that, and the seal of the Governor on the side'

"I see. Well, I'm sure there will still be a market for the fresh stuff." He tilts his head. "You know, there are a lot of controlled foods out there, and quite a few can rival the syrup of Stroopville. I can get you some, if you're interested."

“Ah. I’m down there carving up it’s flesh 9 hours a day. Hence the apron.”
'They don't make you use a knife, do they?'
“Axe.”
'You'd have though technology would have improved since then. They got drilling rigs for the syrup, I'd have assumed there'd be excavators or something for the flesh. Then again, don't want to wake up the Leviathan'
