About buffing the townsfolk, keep in mind that this was a rare case in which all the major townsfolk roles were revealed in the first two days, so if people had not made that mistake (which is arguably very avoidable) the town would've probably done a lot better. Apparently they've lost most of the games but I do think that's due to a lot of factors like inactive people
