I'm going to try to go for the guard's head with the rapier.
You jab four times with 90 being the minimum to hit the jittering guard past the armor, getting an 88, 75, 37, and a 91. you deal 6 damage to the Armor, and kill the guard within. murderer. ...not that the guard wasn't. also not that there was a peaceful resolution aside from running. but still, murderer.
Oh and the guard was an automaton with no emotions or sentience, but its the principle of the thing. cyan mist streams from the holes of the guards armor and disperses, leaving it lying on the floor.
Hmmmm...I honestly have no idea what that means. I search the skeleton.
It looks like it used to be an adventurer like you, until it found took a series of sword strikes to the knee. their armor is decimating. there does not seem to be anything else special about it, baring the armor plate with the runes on it.
OOC: Sorry that took so long, I had no Internet all day yesterday.
you head right, finding the basilisk flesh area and stone again, blood trail and all. something's changed though... the runes on the flesh where already slowly growing in brightness and contrast, but now the stone's runes are starting to glow as well, and there's multiple new cracks along the chunk.
(OOC: 's fine, gave me the time to change my plans a bit. this'll be !FUN!... the kind from dwarf fortress.)
[P] Aeisenberg 100/100 HP +3 / 1,+3/0,0. basilisk flesh and stone area. holding rapier. [P] Booksbooks3 100/100 HP +3 / 1,+3/0,0. basilisk flesh and stone area. holding quarterstaff.
OOC: Oh no. When the DM says that, I know to be worried.
I cast read magic and look at the runes.
Looking at the runes on the Rock chunk, they seem to be divided into three sets. one manipulates kinetic energy, one seems to be the shortest code possible for a simple AI, and one seems to be a leaching spell. as you watch, one of the pieces slides off.
(OOC: Happens to all of us, Booksbooks. also we're probably dead now.)
I snap and cast True Seeing, looking to see if that changes anything on the runes, even though it probably doesn't.
The rock thing is slowly forming into a different shape, though you can see that without True Seeing. wait... why hasn't anything changed in your vision at all? Oh, you accidentally cast True Hearing by accident. simple mistake, I suppoCLUNK oh well thTWANGnds like there's something Loud happening behind you.
The Rock thing finishes changing shape. it is now a Rock Golem, armed with a leaching (Arm), but somewhat slow. it Turns towards the distracted Aeisenberg and readies its attack
I turn around, let out an unmanly scream, and cast Hold monster.
You do that! the Hold monster ends up failing because you turned around and as such stopped looking at the Golem. However, because of how impressively you condensed the concept of ~manly into a single sound, the Rock golem becomes stunned! you are also now facing backwards, towards the loud thumping sounds from before.
The Rock Golem re-readies itself to attack Aeisenberg after having dropped its hands in surprise at the ~manly scream.
More loud clanging is clearly audible to Aeisenberg , coming from 1 backwards - the way he's facing! Interesting how it happens After the rock golem (whos probably AG to be honest). don't AG entitys normally act last?
(OOC: I thought the golem was behind me... geez, how do I keep making these mistakes?)
I'll stand at the ready and try to see what the metal clanging is.
Well, the clangings definitely coming from [back], and you can't hear the tiniest bit from ahead despite the linkage of space... booksbooks can't hear the clanging, and you have True Hearing active, so the sound is probably concealed. Logiking off all these facts, you decide to go backwards for the hell of it.
[...]
After walking for a few seconds, You suddenly find yourself in a completely different place. The floor is marble, the stairs are gold and emerald, and many pillars hold up the ceiling, which is vaulted with thousands of multicolor gemstones embedded within. sitting on a bench of platinum-steel alloy is the Godmodder, hard at work on the source of the loud clanging, and the palace guards are incredible, yellow-golden armor with exquisite patterns of metals, including prometheum, examite, quicksilver, platinum, silver, Mithril, angmalen, aluminium brass, Damascus steel, and Singalum. waiiiiiit, guards? Why are they turning towards you?...
The Golem is stunned but the guards quickly formulate an attack plan and charge. no way you're getting to the Godmodder in this mess.
The Godmodder looks up to see what's causing all the ruckus, wonders why you showed up now, and returns to work to put the finishing touches on his current device. [It would appear the third digit of your position represents something other then height.]

No, the mystery was supposed do be "What's causing the clanging", not the alliance of the golem.
