Background: Criminal/Spy Skills: Deception, Insight, Performance, Stealth, Perception (DM let me start with a generic "Fiend" Knowledge skill as well) Feat: Medium Armor Master
Backstory Blurb (Still hasn't fully been fleshed out): He had a pretty standard Teifling upbringing: "everyone hates me because I'm part demon". In his late teens he meets a human girl training as Devotion Pally and falls in love. She encourages him to chase his dreams, lights a fire in him and he becomes a bard. They get married try to start a life. She gets murdered, horribly, at the hands of demon worshipers. All the good stuff in his life is twisted now. He picks up her sword and shield and declares vengeance on any fiendish agents or collaborators. He has since been using his abilities to infiltrate small cults in the service of fiends, find as many members as possible and systematically eliminate them. He currently doesn't know who killed his wife.
Bit about the World: There's a lot we don't about this continent yet. As far as anyone knows there have only been large settlements here for about 500 years. The nation we're in was founded by refugees from a kingdom of vampires on another continent. This kingdom has grown kind of sporadically, with most settlements building up along the coasts, and now starting to push inland. The government is stretched pretty thin as the area they have to manage is large but the population relatively small, and there's strife building up as the other surrounding kingdoms are fighting with local orcs, goblins, and surprisingly Yuan-ti. The lack of security in our kingdom has allowed opposing forces to start circumventing the defenses of the other kingdoms because we can't hold our borders.
So far: He's just joined up with the rest of the PCs and have started work preparing their town for an orc invasion. He's joined them on the premise that he doesn't want to be starving with everyone else and since the other PC's all have favor with the local government it seemed like good to get some extra handouts. What the rest of the group doesn't know is that he's actually working as independent agent for the king who has been trying to wrangle this group into his service because he needs strong soldiers. The king has talked my character into this role by dangling info about who killed my character's wife in front of him. My character doesn't really trust the king.
Party consists of: Fey Warlock with the Tome. Lore Bard Eldritch Knight / Sorc homebrew Divination Wizard Four elements monk (internet revised version)
Future character advancement plans: Planning on Paladin 6 then the rest going bard, eventually college of whispers for fun subterfuge options, I'm pretty well set on this path unless someone can come up with some other good reasons college of whispers is sub-optimal. I'm specifically avoiding Sorc and Warlock mostly for RP reasons. I'm considering eventually trying to create an alternate identity that runs the underground in the town we've set up as our homebase. Peace through tyranny and lies sort of deal.
So any suggestions for future advancement or straight up revision? Are there some interesting synergy spells I'm overlooking or can look forward too? I know Shield Master is pretty common for Dueling paladins, but I went with medium armor mastery for the skulking I am expecting him to do, especially since he's not strong enough for plate. I get my next ASI at 10th, and I'm split between bumping CON and CHA or picking up Infernal Constitution for resistance to cold and poison and advantage on saves against poison. Anyone see a way to increase my spy game?

So I've started a new character in a Homebrew campaign and was wondering if anyone had some advice for playing a paladin/bard.
