If the title sounds appealing, read on! I am accepting applications for a four-person text-based roleplay group. Please read the entire description below before responding. This is not something that will appeal to everyone!
The game will take place in Discord. Posts should be styled like standard fiction - meaning don’t use colors, spoiler brackets, or other tools to replace standard writing rules. You don’t need to be a professional author, but you need to be able to clearly articulate your thoughts in the style of printed fiction.
There is no dungeon master in this game. The group decides where they go and what happens. If you find it hard to articulate what you want to happen in-character, post your objective in the OOC discord channel, but try not to limit the creativity of your fellow players by having a heavy hand.
You won’t be able to control the narrative! Make sure that sounds fun before you apply because that’s the whole point! Your character’s story may not play out the way you had planned. Three other people will have equal say in how the tale unfolds and nobody knows where it may lead!
For the most part, the game will be played without rules. The joy of collaborative storytelling is the only objective. There will be no required character sheets, classes, skills, or rolls. You can use those things if you want, but your imagination is the only true boundary. Good stories need adversity, failure, and conflict. So hopefully you don’t want to play a superhero.
Scenarios that have an uncertain outcome can be left up to die rolls if you choose. However, when you roll, and the target difficulty is entirely up to you. We’ll use d100 percentage-based rolls. If you aren’t sure when to roll or what target to use, you can always get input from your fellow players in the OOC channel. Just don’t slow down the game.
I’m choosing the Dungeons & Dragons multiverse as the setting because we need a common canon to start with. Everything else is up for grabs. Homebrew is fine if it fits thematically in that universe. However, get OOC approval from the group before you introduce something, and you must work your idea into the story naturally using dramatic exposition. I know you worked hard on it, but we’re playing to be entertained, not to study your lore!
This is the first time I’ve tried something like this. Below are a few additional rules, but we’ll figure the rest out as a group as we play. I’ll leave this post open until we get four players. I won’t respond to everyone, but I’ll close the thread when the group is full. Feel free to bump when you apply but send me your application in a private message.
There is no template to apply. I’m looking for diverse players who are imaginative, mature, creative, articulate, dramatic and reliable – and you need a lot of free time to spend writing! Send me whatever you think best demonstrates you have those qualities.
You need to be able to read and post a few paragraphs consistently (at least every other day is probably a good target to start).
Your enjoyment and the enjoyment of your fellow players should be your primary and only objective.
You need to be polite, sociable, friendly, and empathetic when out of character.
You need to be 21 or older.
This will NOT be a space for erotic roleplay. Romance is appropriate, but descriptions of sex (or other kinks) are not. Character hands should stay over the blouse and above the belt.
I am interested in this! I don't currently have a character in mind but I would love to participate and make something/someone that would fit in with whatever the party needs or thinks is fun.

I am tentatively interested in this. I have this half-oni character concept that I feel could possibly fit well in this call.
