Seeking 3-6 1st level characters for Blood Kin, a grisly adventure about a barbarian tribe, rescue, and revenge.
If you are interested after reading the details below, please reply here or in a PM. Include the race/class you would like to play, and a short background summary. At the start of the adventure, you are working as guards and farmhands for a barbarian family.
Standard Array, Point Buy, and Rolling are all acceptable, but the rolls must be made in a reply or PM, and no re-rolling is permitted.
Any alignment (including evil) is accepted in this campaign, but I will trust that players are capable of roleplaying within a party.
About The Campaign:
- This adventure is part of a large overarching campaign, so this party can continue to another adventure after this one is complete.
- Some aspects of this adventure are very linear. You will be on rails for much of the traveling, so if you are the type that prefers being able to sail west in a campaign and make your own adventure, Blood Kin is probably not for you.
- This is an M rated adventure. If you think you will be unable to handle descriptions of bloodshed and pillaging, Blood Kin is probably not for you.
About The DM:
- I started playing D&D with 5E. I DM two RL groups and very much enjoy how PbP campaigns allow groups of people to come together and create an awesome story.
- I can update my PbP campaigns up to three times a day on most days, but will not advance the campaign without giving each player 24 hours to post, unless it is a situation where only one or two players' input is necessary to advance. With your response, please send me a PM that includes the phrase "priest of Amaunator" so I know I will have players with attention to detail.
- I prefer PbP campaigns that read nicely, so I stick with Theater of the Mind for PbP and provide as much information as I can, rather than use an external tool for placement on maps. I also roll initiative in groups so that rounds of combat can progress as quickly as possible.
- I try to avoid fixed values, I don't like 'em. Enemy/NPC health is rolled, all attacks are rolled, and character HP gains will be rolled when they level up.
- Your characters can die. I don't fudge rolls, so don't be reckless.
- Check out my other campaigns/adventures on the site if you'd like to see how I run them:

Sounds really interesting. I have a Aasimar Shadow Sorcerer that I wanted to play for a while. (because i want him to be a herald of the raven queen, I took the Protector Asasimar but would like the wing (3rd level) to be black raven-like) Character: ddb.ac/characters/3509055/V4y14h
Here's a quick background..can be modified/expanded:
Hukvor GreyShade is a member of the tribe and was the aide of the Shaman, helping him preparing the dead when burying recently deceased members. One a cold night, a Troll attack the tribe. The warriors managed to hold it off but the creature kept regenerating. During the battle, a child of the tribe, lost, found himself in front of the creature. Without a second of hesitation, Hukvor jump in front of the Troll, protecting the child and release from his hand a burst of fire. The rest is still unclear, Hukvor remembers falling on the floor, screaming from the pain and loosing consciousness. A shadowy form appeared, a raven, a voice telling him that his destiny is not fulfil and that the Lady still need him. Gasp, Hukvor woke up, he has been considered dead for a few hour, the shaman has no explanation. Since then, Hukvor has a permanent white cold skin and a dark mood. He is always a Hero for certain, a unnatural creature for other but still part of the Tribe. But deep down he knows that he is now serving a greater entity...
A few hours before dawn, Elrik's remote alpine village was overrun by a band of marauding orcs. Awakened by the guttural yells of the attackers and the screams of the terrified and dying, young Elrik stumbled through the fog with his heart in his throat and his axe in his hand. He fought recklessly, but his desperation far outweighed his valor. When the sun rose later that autumn morning, it shone simultaneously on Elrik's loss and Elrik's gain. He had lost his friends, his brother, and, most assuredly, his belief in a world of goodness and decency. He had gained, however, the gratitude and reverence of many and the fierce resolve to hunt his foes relentlessly and mercilessly. Once certain that he would commit himself to the life of a cleric, devoted to honoring the god Moradin, Elrik is certain his angry and vengeful mind is no longer suited for serving one who is both good and righteous. Elrik's simmering restlessness has led him from town to town, and currently he finds himself earning his keep as a farmhand for a barbarian family.
One day Cyrus Heartmoon found a man naked and bloody on the edge of his families farm. He helped his parents get the man inside. They helped him. The man had no memory of who he was or how he got there. So his family took him in. Things were good for a little while. Then things went real bad. On the next full moon the man changed. He became a horrible monster, a werewolf. He stalked and killed his family. One by one they fell until only Cyrus remained. There was no escaping the beast so instead he fought it. He was horribly wounded and would have died if not for a miracle. A professional monster hunter happened to wander by the farm, he had been searching for a werewolf. The hunter arrived in time and drove off the beast, but its still alive out there somewhere. Unfortunately Cyrus had contracted the curse. Impressed by Cyrus's for attempting to fight the beast, the hunter took him to a hidden order of monster hunters. He underwent the "Taming" and learned to control the monster with in. He was taught the ways of the Blood Hunter, and now he hunts down monsters so no one else will suffer like he did. He is still looking for that werewolf, and looks forward to meeting it again. Next nothing will stop Cyrus from killing it with his bare hands.
Background: Diana Prince is a student that just graduated from the New Olamn University. As all things in Waterdeep, years of training in bardic knowledge was not given free. Money has become a huge problem really fast, so Diana decided to get a loan from one of respectable Waterdeep syndicates. In the end, they didn't want the money back, but a pledge and service to syndicate itself. Now, as a member of “Thorns” Diana first mission is to seek useful connections outside the city of splendors.
The son of an orc chief and his human slave, Bearhans was raised in a brutal and unforgiving environment. When he was 9 his father had another son, this time of true orc blood. Bearhans' mother soon realised that it would not be long before his father ordered his death to clear the line of succession for his new son. So one night, she grabbed Bearhans and fled the camp. They were chased through the wilderness and Bearhans's mother was killed.
He has spent the last 15 years living in the woods and wild lands, hunting to survive. As he grew up he started to trade pelts and meat with the remote villages that dotted the land. It was during these visits that he would sometimes be employed for small jobs, protecting a wagon here and there or hunting local predators.
Due to living in isolation for most of his life Bearhans is pretty socially inept. Cronically shy and unsure about how to read people, he prefers the company of animals to people. Recently during a job to kill a she-wolf that was devouring a local flock, Bearhans found a lone cub in her den. Unable to just leave it there to die he now carries it with him, tucked inside his jacket, and cares for it. This energetic ball of dark fur attracts the attention of many in the villages, attention that Bearhans has never come across before.
Background: Like many half-elves, Marafin was somewhat ostracized from the elvish community he lived in. Not outright, but the looks and subtle disrespect that they gave him was evident throughout his life. This was moreso pronounced as he was the bastard son of a noble who had acknowledged him as his own, much to the court's chagrin. However, when he was old enough, his father in an effort to make him appeal more to court, tasked him with retrieving a specific heirloom that had been lost in an ancient elven ruins north of their territory. Agreeing to this, Marafin set off with some guards and when he got there and touched the heir loom he fell into a deep trance and met with a Fey Lady in a strange flowery hall. She told him of past and who she was, and that if he didn't accept her pact, his essence would be stuck in her realm as a play thing for the fey. Agreeing to her terms, who woke up in the ruined hall of the ancient elf keep and found no time had passed. Grabbing his gear, he set off too angry to go back to his family home.
Story: Lizard like infant was discovered by young man,a successor of the clan chieftain, and his wife. The cold cave where the “half-lizard” boy hatched gave him almost zero chances to survive. As the couple did not have any children, they decided to take care of the unknown kid. Dragonborn was named Yrjö. He grew up in one of the northern nomad tribes of Forgotten Realms. He lived with his rescuers till age 25. Unfortunately elders of the tribe never fully accepted him. When old chieftain died and his “adopted father“ become a new one, Yrjö decided to leave the clan to search for his ancestors.
Character Idea: White Dragonborn, Barbarian ,looking for adventures and gold. He can return to the clan only if he proves his warrior skills.
