I am thinking of running the module Dungeon of the Mad Mage. Characters should be 5th level at the start and use XP leveling. Homebrew should be run by me first and supplementary rulebooks are fine. Encumbrance will be used. Please have when applying:
A: A character sheet link
B: A backstory that has somehow brought them to the city of waterdeep.
And C: What modules you own, so that if you are underleveled I can run a single short dungeon from another module.
B: Elrinec was always interested in gaining more knowledge, but we he was younger he had a dangerous encounter with a carrion crawler in a dwarven tomb that nearly cost him his life. Afterward, he began training in combat to prevent a similar incident and mastered dual-wielding scimitars. He is in Waterdeep as he is interested in the history of the Undermountain dungeon (I know the adventure takes place there, but not much else about it.) On his way to Waterdeep, he's explored several other dungeons and ruins, that’s where he gained the XP for 5th level.
C: I have the D&D Beyond version of Acquisitions Inc. I have physical versions of Curse of Strahd and Out of the Abyss.
Question: How frequently would you like us to post? I can post pretty frequently, at least once per day

I don't see why not and will send you the invite link!
Hello! I am interested in joining! (With the caveat that I am still learning- I know most of the rules, but I don’t know very much about places like Waterdeep.)
Backstory: (This is where I am not sure what works, but I would be happy to change anything if this does not!) Arith grew up in a small village dreaming of becoming a legendary hero someday. She enlisted in the local militia as soon as she was able to. Her training as a soldier brought her to level 5 and her travels brought her into Waterdeep.

B: Wyld was born to a cult serving an ancient Deity . Not knowing his parents, the earliest memories Wyld has are of the elders of the cult telling his care takers to begin the training immediately, which was the start of his torture. From the age of 6 years old, Wyld was taught how to manipulate life force, specifically how to harm it. the training methods included but aren't limited to torture, isolation, weeks without being allowed to sleep, and having him fight others much older than him to death. He endured this until the age of 12, where he witnessed adventurers from Waterdeep destroy the cult leaders and stop their evil plans, of which Wyld had no knowledge of. After the cult was destroyed, he was taken to a church, the temple of the night, which prays to Sehanine, goddess of the moon. There he was raised by the members of the church and taught how to be a good person, but it was difficult, especially when they discovered his abilities to harm life. However, they still took care of him and taught him how to not only take life, but to also give. Now he is about 25, and he is a member of the church who helps heal the sick. But although he is a member of the church, he still has bad habits from his time in the cult which he sometimes gives into.
C: Almost all, and im willing to buy if we ever need to.
Hey im warrior, i just wanted to say that even though i have waterdeep, i have never played it and havent read to far into, just background info, so i made up some stuff like the church, if we ever need to im willing to alter it a bit but ye. : )

Accepted! I asked about modules because I was considering stealing some mini-dungeons from some of them.
B: Fushiguro is a Criminal/Spy who works with the local guards in water deep! Using his very distinct use of shadow magic he is perfect for silently scouting ahead and debuffing foes. His general knowledge on most affair in Waterdeep is something to be desire for both mob bosses and nobles alike! He doesn't typically work for good or for evil but more for which ever side pays more.
C: I have a lot of sorcebooks but actual modules not a whole bunch
D: I am super active during weekdays not so much the weekends!
MY own question: What stat generation method are we using? and Where would this be played on discord or in forum?
B: Nill was born and raised in Waterdeep, at the House of Wonder, a temple to Mystra in the Sea Ward. He never knew his family, as he was orphaned, but has grown very fond of the caretakers that raised him, as well as several of his Acolyte brothers. Growing up near the Yawning Portal tavern Nill always heard stories of it's famed well entrance into the dungeon beneath the city. Moreso than the danger, and treasure to be found below, Nill wondered about the Dungeons creator, and did all the research he could to find out what would drive him to create such a crazy structure. The literature and books on the matter didn't suffice, so instead he began to train to embark on his own journey downward, he wanted to see if he could find any lore on it's creator first hand.
And C: I don't own any modules, I own only source books.

Allian's life was a story book one that was told on the backs of others making it better for him and his parents. But not not for others on their plantation. So he set off on his own from chult it took him many years to find his way coming to Waterdeep to study learning at the collage of the arts. Now he can be found occasionally playing his bagpipes at Inns and taverns to make his coin.
Sometimes, he takes odd jobs with the local factions and law to try and take those in the wrong in for a bounty.
He was at the Yawning Porthole, not long ago when a brawl broke out between an Halforc Named Yagra and some bandits with eye tatoo's on their skin. He helped by reasoning with them physically. And Psychologically and they ran away. He went to sit down and have an ale. when a troll crawled out of the pit. Some quick thinking brought him on oneside and the trolls back to the pit. Casting the spell thunderwave sent the giant back into the pit to the depths below. Then he froze the stirges with his breath Killing the giant mosquitos.
He garnered the attention of the one and only Volocamp who sent him and his friends to find Floon Blagmar. He helped rescue Renear Neverember after tracking the other noble to a warehouse.
But after that he had a falling out with his new friends.
So after working odd jobs and such. He found himself back at the Yawning Porthole tried his luck down in the dungeon but the first time nearly got him killed and his friends (and the DM) deserted him so he hangs out in the Tap room, occasionally Substituting for three strings to earn some coin and a opportunity to join some adventurers down in the pit.
Part1) An Orphan who grew up on the mean streets thieving and robbing, he eventually was forced to leave the big city for a smaller town due to unfortunate incidents with the local thieves guild. ....Firen eventually found himself in a small hamlet where he joined a local watch, for a steady income for his ale drinking and carousing under the assumed name of "Firen". His original name being "Rinc Hu". Having just spent hours wandering around the wilderness on reports of suspicious undead activity and finding nothing, Firen is back at the Inn drinking himself under. .............................................................but the undead where there........ Part 2) Rinc Hu dragged himself from the bones of the undead Minotaur and looked at his surroundings. Underneath the Minotaur was the corpse of an owlbear...the Minotaur's axe embedded in it's back. Shattered bones beneath the owlbears paws and inside it's jaws. They had done for each other. Rinc heard the hoot of an owl....somewhere in the woods. The last Rinc remembered was standing in front of the Minotaur and trying to raise his shield at an incoming fireball...too slow....too slow....He winced as he felt the third degree burns across his right side and sword arm. He had failed...first at being a thief...then at being part of the town watch...and finally he had failed his comrades when the undead horde had rolled in. They were all dead.....or likely undead. He felt a pang for Jamari and his son, although he hadn't got to know any of them that well. No sword, no shield. However a smile started to slowly appear across his face....his flask was there. He brought the ale flask to his lips and took a short sip. He began to think about what that vile old Threeteeths used to go on about before he got made dead. Waterdeep? The city of splendors. Yes, that sounds like a great idea.
