A party of 6 well equipped adventures arrive outside the mouth of a cave each holds a parchment they read
“dearest adventurers we’ve had reports of horrid howls and the light of fire coming from a local cave system we need you to eradicate anything you find inside -gigantis the 18th”
you look around the fields surrounding are rich with beautiful weat and grains welcome to the shining fields
Facing away from group, a tall muscular earth genasi is surveying the countryside. "Bronze enjoys this smell, much better than the city!" he says to himself a little to loudly. He tries take in more of the scenery but he suddenly remembers the weight pulling on his neck. Bronze holds the locket in his hands and opens it. Inside is the only picture surviving picture of Delta, his daughter. Staring at the picture brings forth a flood of memories in Bronze's mind. He remembers those nights after fighting in the arena. His wife patching him up while Delta would listen to him about the exaggerated tales of her father's battles. He remembers those days when he would go on walks with his family, his daughter running ahead with her mom softly chiding her for going too fast. This locket serves as Bronze's reminder of what he has lost and what he needs to do, his wife may be gone but his daughter is still out there. As much as he would like to stare at the shining fields he has a job to do.
After tightly clutching the locket Bronze turns and walks towards the group. "I know you've already explained it Bronze, but is job simple as killing everything in that cave?" he asks. Most of the jobs Bronze has taken have reprimanded him for hitting everything that moves so receiving a request like is this new to him.
Cornelius looks into the cylinders of his pepperboxes to ensure they are loaded. It has been an OCD of his since the "incident" several years back, and although sure he fixed the cylinder releases on these upgraded models with no failure since, it is a bit of a PTSD-driven muscle memory to check frequently at this point in his life.
Holstering his weapons on the inside of his duster coat, he pulls his coat and armor straight, and looks over at the others who have arrived with him. "Ugh, another dirty lot. For once it would be nice to have the upper echelons of Polick to accompany me. The last group's stench alone nearly got us all killed..." He thinks briefly, before concluding that it would be a sight indeed to see any member of the Cormyr family getting dirt under their nails.
He nods towards the group, his hands gripping the openings of his unbuttoned coat in a stance he frequently used and found comfortable.
"Good day, I suppose you are here on the command of Gigantis the 18th as well. The name is Cornelius, by what may I call you?"
Peering through his goggles, the young human eyes the cave entrance as he approaches it. Maybe this side venture will be worth writing about. Ever since leaving the temple to search for the "new" a few years ago, Sigurd has met many people and had added much to his literary works.
Adjusting his backpack, Sigurd glances at the others and responds to Cornelius, "Greetings. I am Sigurd Stahle, priest of Oghma the Binder. Blessings of Knowledge upon you." Recognizing Bronze for what he is, the young man turns towards Genasi and intones in Primordial, "Greetings, he who walks upon the hallowed earth. May your footing be sound."
Locke looked up from the note as he heard the others. He'd finally arrived at the cave... and he wasn't alone. He knew he was going to be with others on the job, but... such a motley crew had him wondering exactly what they were going to find that such a crew was deemed necessary.
He carefully re-folded the note and tucked it away into a vest pocket before adjusting his backpack and shortsword and closing the final gap to the cave opening. The walk from town hadn't been far, so he wasn't tired; he supposed they should all just introduce themselves and start right off? Yet as he looked the others up and down, he couldn't help but to press his lips together in restraint.
"Greetings. I am Sigurd Stahle, priest of Oghma the Binder. Blessings of Knowledge upon you."
A cleric? Having one of them on a task was always a good idea. The would-be jeweler turned to the two and nodded politely. "Greetings, Cornelius, and Sigurd. I suppose you are correct in our business--at least in my case. You may call me Locke."
It was then that the somewhat quiet, larger man--or genasi, perhaps?--that had been alone away from the others came toward the group.
"नमस्कार, वह जो पवित्र पृथ्वी पर चलता है।आपका कदम मजबूत हो।"
That was new. Locke wasn't sure he had heard the language before... and yet the cleric knew to speak it to the larger man? Interesting. The figure seemed to ignore the address though; he towered over Locke's 5' 4" frame as he spoke towards someone, or perhaps to the group as a whole.
"I know you've already explained it Bronze, but is job simple as killing everything in that cave?"
Locke kept his face blank but felt a twinge of irritation. Clearly the figure was big enough and had the gear to hold his own in a fight, but... was he so simple that the group would have to mentally carry him through the job? Not that he was exactly academy material himself, but at least hedidn't need instructions repeated to him.
The young man decided to let whoever had answered the question before continue the explanation--if there was a wet nurse needed on the job, it wouldn't be him. "Perhaps a harsh initial assessment,"he thought a bit guiltily, "but if this companion truly can carry his own weight, I suppose we'll discover it soon enough."
Quote from Bjorn_Stahle>> "Greetings, he who walks upon the hallowed earth. May your footing be sound."
"Bronze is surprised, rare for human to know language of the elemental." Bronze says, clearly impressed at Sigurd's primordial. "May your footing also be sound as well."
Bronze looks at the rest of the group. He can tell just from a glance that the others are more capable in mental aspects. From his time adventuring he has learned to leave the hard thinking to the others and do what he does best, taking blows and dealing damage. Hearing the others give introductions Bronze realizes he needs to do the same as well.
"I am Bronze." he says in common plainly. "If groups want to go in quietly Bronze can help."
"Blessings indeed.." Cornelius responds to Sigurd. Looking over at Bronze and wincing at the broken common, he continues. "Might need some of that knowledge to balance things out from the looks of it."
Hearing Sigurd respond towards the barbarian in another tongue he smirks slightly while thinking. "Right on queue".
Seeing the somewhat shorter human walk up Cornelius quickly recognizes his blank face as one of hidden annoyance, an expression he had mastered himself as of late.
"I am Bronze." he says in common plainly. "If groups want to go in quietly Bronze can help."
He nods while contorting his wincing face into a half-smile. "A pleasure I am sure." "Quietly, however, is not something I tend to be so good at.. Perhaps I should take up the rear for the time being.." He thinks to himself.
"I am Bronze. If groups want to go in quietly Bronze can help."
A sensible, if simple, opening plan was yet another chip in his companion's favor; Locke looked him over again, and began to regret his earlier assessment.
Wanting to quickly move on, the would-be jeweler was about to agree with Bronze, but then noticed that a couple of the crew had yet to speak up. Figuring the group was still feeling each other out, he instead suggested,
"I'm all for entering the cave right off. But just to be on the safe side, who all will be needing some sort of light inside? It might make sense for me and anyone else who doesn't need illumination to take the lead."
"Ahem, excuse me? Excuse me! I was sent by the King to join an extermination team of sorts and I was wondering if you know anything about it. I'm afraid I may have come too late and missed them." A small human woman runs up to the group, stopping right before she would have collided with Cornelius.
Her terra-cotta skin is fully flushed, and a couple brown curls have fallen out of the half-assed bun she made before rushing out the doors of the Shining Fields library. A streak of white runs through her hair. Rummaging through her pants pocket, then her belt pockets, then forgetting what she was looking for, she curses under her breath and looks up to the cavern entrance. "Here's the cave. Doesn't look like anyone is inside..." She mutters to herself, forgetting that there are other people around until she hears Locke speak up. "Oh, are you the people I'm supposed to be working with? Pleased to meet you, I'm Hin. I can take care of the lights with a spell for those that need it, so that shouldn't be a problem."
"Perhaps we should discuss the resources we have available. I have a set of mystical lenses that allow me to see in the dark. Do we need to bring light sources with us?"
Sigurd pauses, takes off his backpack and sets it on the ground, pulls out a bullseye and a hooded lantern, placing them on the ground in front of him.
"These two lanterns have their wicks enchanted with a cold burning mystical flame that works even underwater. I am able to carry one if needed."
"Nice to meet you, Hin," said Locke. He then watched as Sigurd produced his lanterns, and nodded.
"Between those and Hin's magic, I suppose we're set? As I mentioned though, I won't need them; I can stay in front just at the edge of the light and still see ahead of us. I can also provide some physical defense for those wielding magic, even if I don't look like it."
"Bronze will lead with Locke," Bronze exclaims as he takes out a pair of goggles that are shaped like owl eyes and affixes it to his face. "Four eyes better then two no?"
Pulling out his greataxe Bronze heads to the entrance of the cave and waits for the others. "Bronze not good with traps,"he thinks to himself. "Hope others can help Bronze with that."
"Bronze is ready, does group need help sneaking in?"
"He seems eager," thought Locke as the genasi offered his assistance leading. He was actually grateful for his companion's urging; not that the group was taking too long (they actually seemed rather decisive, for the most part,) but the monk always felt more comfortable with a straightforward plan in mind.
He strode up to the cave entrance next to Bronze. "Are we all about ready?" he asked the others, "at least enough for Bronze to cast his spell?"
"Or whatever it is he can do to help hide us," Locke continued internally, a bit curious as to the other's capabilities.
"Wonderful! I'm all set here. I can bring up in the rear, make sure nothing surprises us from behind." Hin smiles, ready to follow Bronze's and Locke's lead. "It'll be alright Calo, there's no need to be scared." She seems to be talking at her chest, until a tiny tentacle curls out of the breastpocket of her blouse. The rest of the small octopus clambers out of the pocket, turning a cowardly shade of blue. "Hey, I'm sure these people are nice," she retorts, and the octopus makes a disgruntled squeaking sound. She digs around in her pocket, and upon finding a small satchel she opens it, rubbing the contents between her fingers. "We were all sent by the king. I assume. And whatever we find inside probably won't be deadly. You have nothing to be afraid of." As she continues talking to her familiar, the tips of her fingers start to glow. She walks closer to the entrance of the cave and pokes the air four times, and four little orbs of light appear out of thin air. She dusts off her hands, looking at the others.

Bronze nods towards his companions. With a resounding thud Bronze slam his greataxe into the ground allowing the handle to dig into the ground and knocking up some dirt. You hear Bronze mutter a couple of words under his breath in Primordial,
"May the earth hide those who tread upon it."
As he says those words the dust starts to rise in the air gently. The dust surrounds the party of 6. If one was looking at the spell on the outside you would assume the group was merely a dust cloud. Bronze and the rest of the party would also notice that the rustling their clothing made had been subdued, as if behind a wall. However, their senses were not obscured by the dust and looking back they would also notice the dust covering the small idents their steps made in the soft earth. Bronze had cast Pass Without Trace.
"Bronze can't hold dust forever," Bronze says as he lifts his greataxe from the ground. "Let's go."
Adjusting his backpack for comfort, Locke stepped into the cave. As he entered the darkness, his Devil's Sight took over, transforming the interior into a scene as clear as day. For a distance, anyways. Being sure to not leave anyone behind, he began a slow, cautious walk toward the nearest tunnel.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Thank you, Bronze." Hin smiles in his direction, following the two and hanging back to make sure the others go into the cave's mouth before her. As the group walks down into the rock, she quietly breaks the silence and says, "I don't think I caught everyone's names. It's Bronze and Locke, right?" She points at both respectively, making sure she has the two names correctly. She then turns to Sigurd and Cornelius. "And what about the two of you?"
