Long ago, a powerful alliance of dwarves, gnomes, and human spell-casters forged a pact to share a legendary mine known only in whispers as Wave Echo Cave. Within its depths, they built the Forge of Spells a place where magic and metal became one.
But then, disaster struck. A powerful force of orcs reinforced by evil mercenary wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave to seize its riches and magic treasures. Human wizards fought alongside their dwarf and gnome allies to defend the Forge of Spells, and the ensuing spell battle destroyed much of the cavern. Few survived the cave-ins and tremors, and the location of Wave Echo Cave was lost.
The cave vanished from all maps, lost to time and war. For centuries, its location stayed a mystery, buried beneath rubble and rumor. Now, the frontier town of Phandalin was resettled and stands on the edge of history. The Rockseeker brothers, a trio of dwarves, may have uncovered a long-lost secret but they’re not the only ones searching. And some secrets are guarded by shadows. You have been hired by a friend Gundren Rockseeker, to escort a wagon to Phandalin and feel excited to make some money. You can also decide on secondary goals and some of your own unique reasoning to for being an adventurer and why you have interest in Phandalin. 14th edition 1st level character.
ok, since it's level 1, I'm assuming just starting gear, and standard array or point buy for stats? Any races/classes you're looking for or are against in the campaign?
Character Name: Ulrick Von Lichtenstien Class: Wizard Race: Variant Human Backstory:
Sir Ulrick Von Lichtenstien was born into a wealthy family. The Lichtenstien family crest, a two-headed lion standing over a field of gold, adorned the mantle of their small castle on the eastern coastline of Northern Ergoth. Although their fiefdom was small, it was home to more than 1,000 peasants, men-at-arms, craftsmen, and other nobles.
Ulrick learned early in life that his father was not a capable ruler and became determined to learn all he could. At age 16, he was practically running the fiefdom. He desired more than anything to bring about a golden age for his people. By age 18, the fiefdom's finances were in order, and crops were plentiful. Most recognized Ulrick as the de facto Lord of Lichtenstien.
On his 20th birthday, he was interrupted by villagers requesting his help with an illness. Ulrick and the local healers were unable to help against the Medusa Plague. Ulrick watched as his people began to die of the disease. Ulrick left home to find someone, anyone, hoping he could do something to stop the plague. The local faeries gave Ulrick passage to the Mage tower at Higarlelith where he recruited the help of the master wizards there.
With their tutelage and help, it was determined that a corrupted magical weave controlled the progression of the disease. Ulrick learned to use the magic of that weave to syphon the plague from his people into himself, disfiguring Ulrick in the process. The pox covered most of Ulrick's skin. While not contagious, his people, including his family, shunned him and cast him out of the Fiefdom out of fear.
Alone and abandoned, Ulrick wandered until by chance a dwarf named Gundren showed him a kindness he hadn't experienced in quite some time. Ulrick didn't want revenge, but as time passed, he became bitter about being cast out after saving his people. Maybe someday, he will return to them and take what's rightfully his.

Hey thanks! Yes standard array, no race is off limits! Starting gear!
I did rolls for my starting stats but can do it as point buy instead if that’s preferred!Edited to add that I updated my character abilities to the standard array.
Keen to play. I'm looking to play a human cleric. What god's are significant in this world?
