In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagonload of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days’ travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found “something big,” and that he’d pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen’s Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Hallwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to “take care of business.”
You’ve spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you’ve just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You’ve encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.
I now give you the opportunity to roleplay and explain your characters intentions and reasons for accepting Gundrens quest.

I wanted to put something funny but I couldn’t think of anything.
For years, Verik worked as a soldier, protecting the city of Waterdeep. He had many experiences, some good, some bad. Essentially, he grew bored of the same routine, and seeing how much excitement adventurers have, he decided to become one. This job was exactly what he needed, and he is eager to perform well and successfully escort the supplies to Phandalin.
So far, the last few days have revealed a few things about Verik. He mostly goes by the nickname 'Cheddar', having earned it from his time as a soldier (he used to sneak into the kitchens and steal snacks, mostly cheese). Verik loves food. Loves it so much, it can sometimes become a weakness of his. Verik is real jolly, and a fairly simple-minded person, for an eladrin.
Varik is a Level 1 Eladrin Fighter with the Soldier background, and NG. He's 97 years old, 6'2", weighs 165 pounds, has bright silver eyes, smokey gray-blue skin, and mostly silvery hair.
Art found online that I feel represents Varik pretty well:
(Lemme know if these don't show up)
(Anything else I need to post?)
