In the beginning there was Dre, the All Father, and Dru the All Mother, the creators of the world and all within it. After they finished, they sighed and were content for all was good within their creation.
Time passed. The creatures grew in both Knowledge and Population, expanding on the things the two Gods have given them and spreading out to cover the lands. As the two Gods observed their creations, they being to feel as if they were missing something-their lives were not as fulfilled as those of the creatures they had created. As so they came to the conclusion that they too needed to procreate-to have children of their own beings.
Each took pieces of themselves, breathing life into each form and giving it purpose. And thus was the pantheon of Gods brought into being-as children of the Gods yet as parts of them as well. And as each child was formed they were given the same command-to go forth and grow in knowledge and grow their gifts. And each child spent an age watching and learning their gifts on their own, spending time with each other and becoming allies and then enemies and back again-learning how to interact from and with the creatures created before them. For the two parents had not followed all the doings of their first creations-how some guarded their knowledge and possessions jealously, how others shared with those around, while some grew quicker and learned faster or slower, and others grew in knowledge but left their bodies weak. It was into this fragile system that the godlings were thrust, and as happens with those of enormous power and ego, they too began to demonstrate the same traits as the firsts, beginning as minor squabbles between siblings, then turning into full blown animosity between some and unending love and friendship between others. It was then that they too turned their thoughts to growing their power and propagating their own lines. So they came to live among the ones they called mortals, demanding fealty and worship, and eventually tribute to be given for their favor. Some, using the ways of the mortals, conceived their children the same way with both other godlings and mortals alike while the others looked to the Alls method of creating.
As time passed, each godling realized to grow further in power they would need more worshippers and began to have their original followers go out and preach the benefits and wonders of their own good above the others. And when they finally clashed as is prone to happen, the godlings taught them to lie, to cheat-even to kill-all in the name of the godling.
Wars ensued. Whole peoples were slaughtered, others forced from the surface to live in caves or underground. Knowledge lost. Using their creation gifts, the godlings began to experiment on the mortals, creating the first of the intelligent creatures-the ogres, goblins, trolls and orcs-in search of a weapon of supremacy.
At first the two Alls were content, basking in the knowledge that they had once again created something they assumed was perfect like themselves. But eventually the cries of pain, anguish, despair and beseeching for aide reached their ears. In dismay they looked upon the world they had created and saw the ugliness it had become. Watched in horror as their children killed and maimed not only the mortals, but each other as well. They too felt anger, and girded themselves for war and descended to face their children on the moral plane. There, the two Alls faced off against their children and the troops they had created.
As time is measured for an immortal, the battles lasted only a few days. But for the mortals impacted by the clashes it raged on for centuries, each side growing more hateful and unforgiving of the other-no quarter given to either side. Even the godlings were prone to it-sniffing out the lives of their siblings as easily as the mortals killed each other.
Finally, in one last desperate attempt to stop the senseless annihilation the two Alls called upon the godlings to join them in their celestial home for a parlay. When their children arrived, the Alls noted with horror that only seven of their children remained. They bowed their heads and wept quietly for all the ones lost to senses pride and destruction. It strengthened their resolve to do what must be done. Using their powers, they sealed all the exits of the Great hall, then stood upon the Seal and drew upon all their power and infused it with their souls and life force, creating one last thing-a ward so powerful and everlasting that it locked the remaining seven children away from direct intervention in the mortal world-only able to touch it through their supplicants and that only briefly-and then, with a sad look shared between them, the Alls expired.
