Gemma, the continent of the Forgotten World. It is the birthplace of many legends and myths that mystified the rest of the world of Grandual. It harbored ancient beasts and monsters that ravaged the lands. From the untamed, ancient forests of the Beastwyld to the unforgiving, broken peaks of the Cragged Spires, Gemma was certainly the toughest adversary to civilization during the past couple of centuries. It took many expeditions and countless lives of thousands to hold back nature’s wrath as well as turn it’s harsh, inhabitable soil to something feasible to grow and nourish new, colonized lives.
A thousand or so years have passed since the first steps of civilization reached Gemma, and the continent is now a thriving landscape of pure adventure and exploration. Grand cities mark the start of new frontiers as adventurers, explorers, and hunters alike flock to the Forgotten World in search of ancient treasure and relics that would allow them to be hailed as history’s greatest. Each major city in Gemma is a metropolis for said individuals becoming central hubs for many guilds that have been formed over the years.
The presence of guilds are what makes Gemma prosper. Talented, powerful adventurers who are able to reclaim more of the Forgotten World, help police the growing rate of crime that is inevitable to a growing civilization, or help bring trade and commerce by traversing treacherous distances in order to import and export valuable goods.
Whatever the reason for their existence, it is no doubt that established guilds are the lifeblood of Gemma.
You, adventurer, belong to such a society. As a member of an established, albeit new guild, you must work hard with your compatriots in order to bring glory to your names, and to the nation of Gemma as a whole. What kind of story will you write for yourself?
Hey all! I present to you guys the preface to my Homebrew setting, which I would love to develop more through player interaction, which is why I'm here! I'm looking up to 5 players who would like to join me on this little adventure in hopes of making it into a big, long-lasting epic! Setting-wise, I have a rough map made with the major cities and landmarks marked as well as a brief explanation of the world of Grandual and its inhabitants. This will be shared with accepted players so that they may flesh out their backgrounds before we begin the game. With that being said, I will be developing the world and refining details based on the decisions and progress of the PCs! Essentially, you, the players, will help define the world with me. If you are okay with this, please continue reading! But most importantly, fully read the 'Game Rules/Info' tab if you are considering on applying!
About Me:
Been playing DnD 5e for about 2 years now, mostly IRL experiences. HOWEVER: This will be my first time using DnDBeyond! I'm very excited to start playing here, but do bear with me as I figure things out, especially rolling. :)
Recently taken my DMing online, as I find it the best way for me to practice! With that being said, I'm still getting used to a lot of things as a DM and may make mistakes from time to time. I like to experiment a lot with encounters and puzzles and not all of them will be perfect. But I will try my best to deliver a great game, though!
DMing style: all about roleplay and immersion. Don't be afraid to ask me about what you want your PC to do! I don't mind working it out with you to make the gaming experience enjoyable.
Character Creation Info:
Character Lv Start: 5
Roll 4d6, drop lowest. Do this 7 times, drop lowest sum. Assign however you like.
Start with starting equipment, background items, +500g, +common magical items per Xanathar's.
Max HD at first level, roll for the rest. You may reroll any 1s, but must accept the following roll no matter the result.
All published books accepted. UA Ranger allowed. Any other UA must be approved first, so hit me up with a link and we'll talk about it.
Multiclassing allowed, as long as they meet the pre-requisites. However, future multiclassing in-game must fit character logic and roleplay.
Game Rules/Info:
DM's words are law! I try my best to be fair and transparent and promote a fun game. But please do not be a rule lawyer, as this will be a homebrewed setting and I may add in additional rulings as they come up. Worry not ; they won't be gamebreaking or gamechanging. They mostly relate to the rule of cool and add flexibility to combat and RP and whatnot and that's if I decide to establish them. I'll always talk to the party first, tho!
Be kind and respectful. Pretty much self-explanatory.
There will be equal opportunity of combat and roleplay, but I pride myself in setting up some good RP situations. So keep that in mind before you apply, as not all session could end in combat if the majority of the party swings the other way.
With that being said, please add detail to your posts! No one-liners or irrelevant posts that does not add to the progression of the game (e.g. "I take a sip of my drink and grunt.")
Please put your favorite color somewhere in the app to let me know you read all of the rules. :)
Anyone of any age, race, sex, etc can play, but be warned that some situations may allude to violence, sex, nudity, drugs, etc. Everything will always fade to black tho. We ain't that kind of game!
Xanathar's Downtime rules will be in play. (Pg 123)
Xanathar's Tool & Skills rules will be in play. (Pg 78)
Expect some homebrew magic items! However, for the sake of ease, the only source of homebrew will be from me, and only me.

I am Elric Ravenwind, a human wizard of many many years (75). I am the typical old wizard in search of more magical knowledge and artifacts. It would be a lie to say I’ve never thought of lichdom.... I wear a dark blue robe with purple trim hiding the fine brown clothing underneath. A matching blue pointed cap top my head. Thin white hair falls from my head and a long white beard hangs from my face. I carry a wooden staff, which is my arcane focus. The shaft is wrapped in leather for a grip and a small brass cap protects the bottom. A small blue orb tops the staff.

Preferred Name:
Mavrakir Garri
A sentence or three describing who you are:
Mavrakir has skin the colour of firebrick red with massive, thick horns that protrude from his forehead and curve back towards his temples like a sort of crown, extending several inches beyond his head before ending in an upward, pointed curve. Black hair curls down to his shoulders, his eyes are a bright gold and just under the left eye there's a scar that runs down his cheek to end an inch above his top lip, the scar pulling it upwards in a permanent sneer. His face is somewhat wide, high cheekbones and a jaw that ends with protruding red spikes and his chin consisting of two.
General Character Idea (Race/Class/Motivations):
Tiefling, Warlock, Seek out the one that's been haunting his cursed line and finally destroy it.

Preferred Name: Yrjö the White
A sentence or three describing who you are: Lizard like infant was discovered by young man,a successor of the clan chieftain, and his wife. The cold cave where the “half-lizard” boy hatched gave him almost zero chances to survive. As the couple did not have any children, they decided to take care of the unknown kid. Dragonborn was named Yrjö. He grew up in one of the northern nomad tribes of Forgotten Realms. He lived with his rescuers till age 25. Unfortunately elders of the tribe never fully accepted him. When old chieftain died and his “adopted father“ become a new one, Yrjö decided to leave the clan and search for his ancestors.
General Character Idea (Race/Class/Motivations): White Dragonborn, Barbarian (Path of The Storm Herald: Tundra), Adventures and Gold. He can return to the clan only if he proves his warrior skills.
A sentence or three describing who you are: A’amakualenalena Mana’olanakeiki, known as "The Bear" to most, is a vigilante in every sense of the word, secretly infiltrating the underworld of cities and grabbing unsuspecting criminals from the shadows to restrain them and leave them on the front steps of the local jail. He wears a disguise while out and about, mostly consisting of his usual mottled grey and black clothing but with a blue-green mask, his favorite color, obscuring his eyes and nose from view. When grabbing his unsuspecting victims, he usually spits out a quip about evil or justice or destiny that lets the victim know they've fallen victim to "The Bear;" though if that didn't tip them off then the sheer size of the enormous Goliath grabbing them would have.
General Character Idea (Race/Class/Motivations): Goliath Fighter/Rogue. Obsessed with Justice, Destiny, and Heroism to the point that he's a little unhinged.
Str 11, Dex 16 (18, +1 racial, +1 Feat), Con 14, Int 14 (16, +2 racial), Wis 16, Cha 14 Feat at Level 4: Squat Nimbleness
Name: Flolzi Tarklesby Concept: Rogue-Arcane Trickster, Archaeologist background A little about me: Folzi Tarklesby was curious just like every other gnome. However, he did not have the aptitude for being cooped up in the burrows tinkering away at on some half-baked machination or with a nose planted in some arcane tome like the rest of his family. Determined to find a way to prove his worth to his clan, Folzi began about the business of exploring, particularly for lost relics. On one particular excursion through some elven ruins, he came across a particular artifact that seems to have awoke the innate magical prowess within the gnome. He continues now in aiding his new guild in locating and acquiring various objects that may prove useful in helping maintaining the peace of Gemma.
A sentence or three describing who you are: A young elven girl in which among her clan did not feel as perfect as everyone wanted her to be. Once she confided in her uncle, it was not long until her parents were murdered, by her own hand. However she had no recollection of it and a haunting suspicion her uncle had done something to her, as she loved her parents deeply and would never have killed them of her own free will over an insecurity. After awhile, her older brother took her in, believing her story whereas her clan had not and she began to remember bits of pieces of that night. Eventually she left her brother's home in search of her uncle to find out the truth. She has gotten close to finding him a few times, but he always managed to slip right through her fingers.
General Character Idea (Race/Class/Motivations): High Elf (Moon), Barbarian (Path of the Berserker), finding her uncle and learning the truth of the night her parents were killed all while seeking to prove her innocence

After showing potential in the arcane arts, she was sent to learn more at an outpost of the Academy of Devastation, where her preference for defensive magic and inventive solutions quickly made her unliked by many. She was exiled after a particularly nasty conflict with her instructor, and fled to the city. Complete backstory:
Kara Skrelgoch was raised amongst the Scion of Bloodshed legion in the Cragged Spires. She spent her adolescence training to be a warrior, although this was never her passion. When she was 16, her legion became embroiled in a conflict with a neighbouring Goliath tribe, the Kulawamathi. Deemed old enough to fight, she joined the took up her weapons and joined the fray. Her banner was slaughtered in a skirmish, but as a Goliath club descended upon her, she instinctively raised a magical barrier that she had read about in an old tome that her mother owned, although the blow left her with terrible scars upon her head. The actions of a brave Fatal Axe allowed her to survive that day. When she returned to her legion, they shamed her for fleeing, but, seeing her potential, sent her to an outpost of the Academy of Devastation. Kara was thrilled with this opportunity to learn, but soon became disenchanted upon learning that her fellow students desired to become no more than walking artillery, whereas she had little interest in harming others after the battle against the Goliaths. She infuriated instructors with her defensive tactics and inventive solutions to their combat scenarios, and a particularly spiteful professor, Gelrok Imtar, framed her in a dishonourable crime. Name : Ereveth Goldpetal (Because chartreusepetal doesn't quite have a good ring to it)
Backstory (whipped up using Xanathar's) :
Born in the home of a family friend
Knew and raised by both parents
Only child
Squalid lifestyle growing up in small house
Had a few close friends and an ordinary childhood
Eraveth saw a bard perform once, and I knew from that moment on what he was born to do
He was a gifted performer and attracted the attention of a master bard who schooled him in the old techniques
Only 1 prominent life event over his 100+ years of life : He made an enemy of an adventurer, it was his own fault. A Human Bard named Ander Hornraven caught me plagiarizing a song of his and denounced my name.
Short version : Grew up in a poor, but loving, family where both parents stuck around just barely getting by. One day while having some fun with a few of my friends, I saw a fantastic Bard playing in an Inn. The way the people adored him as if entranced by his song stood out to me as I have never been more than a dirty child, unknown to anyone but my family and two friends. I dreamed of becoming like him one day, so I practiced obsessively until I made a name for myself and crawled out of poverty.
General Idea : My main motivation for adventuring is to collect heroic stories and unbelievable tales to woo those lucky enough to hear my performances. I would play him as an Eladrin Glamour Bard focusing mostly on control spells and supporting from the back line. Eraveth can be pretty persuasive in RP situations as well, even when not using magic.
