Setting: Welcome to Faerun. A significant portion of the last two decades' digital content and books within the D&D universe are within the 'Forgotten Realms' setting, and so this is the best place to start if you are new (in my opinion). You can learn most everything important here.
The Campaign: I'm not going easy on you - this is bootcamp. No really. You'll actually be playing a character that (one way or another) "joins" to serve in the army of your most noble Duchess during a time of peril and intrigue.
The campaign will be short with 3-5 players.
This is not a module, just me doing my DM thing. But, it will not go on forever. It is a chance for you to experience the game, get used to the mechanics, and hopefully fall in love with your character and this wonderful game and community we are all in.
I tend to do RP heavy games with combat intermingled. However, since this is a first-time for you, I will try to make this more a 50-50 setup. But you, dear players, can choose that as you go.
There will be themes of violence, descriptions of disturbing mental imagery, and mild mature content. There will not be themes or scenes of sexual violence or violence against children.
Your Character: TBD. I mean that. DO NOT SUBMIT A CHARACTER. That's an order soldier! But... some ground rules:
No roleplaying as children - that's a hard rule.
Core races and classes only (Hey, you're new - how do you know about all the other options anyhow!?!)
I don't care what age the players are so long as they can play emotionally mature characters.
That said, no one under the legal age of adulthood in their respective nation (18 for the United States)
So, what then? Let's start real slow. Please submit the following as your application for game.
What name does your character go by and how do they like to be addressed?
Everyone has a history. What was your character's family life like growing up? How is their home life now? Their childhood? Do they have siblings, lifelong friends, no one at all?
Is your character a young adult, adult, middle-aged person, or much older?
It's a medieval setting and as such most children aren't treated as they are in our modern times, they are pretty much expected to 'start growing up' past the age of six (using Humans as a baseline). From six to sixteen they are typically understudies to a tradesperson, or their parents, or if noble or within a wealthier society, attending formal education towards a chosen profession. Professions aren't something you figure out later in life, so... what did your character spend their early years preparing to do for the rest of their life? Did you stick to it, or did something change your course?
Is your character in love with anyone? Have they ever been? Where is that person now?
From there, we'll start working out their lives in this world, then race, then class. Trust me. I'm a doctor. (I'm not a doctor - that is a total fabrication --- NEVER TRUST YOUR DM).
This is a second wave of recruitmentto my original post back in September, so you will be joining the game with other still new-ish but slightly more seasoned players. As discussed above, you may play any of the core races and classes. Your character is either from or has become a citizen of the Kingdom of Cormyr. You can read more about that nation here.
Drill Master! I mean-... I mean Dungeon Master! I would like to join the Duchess' army. I'm tall enough, old enough, and brave enough, I think.
Are all the questions you are asking beneath the 'So, what then?' section in regards to our PC? Because the first two questions seems directed at the player, but then it switches to the PC.
* Name Chuja of Yona, Goes by Chuja *Human, Raised in the settlement of Xonthal's tower. Never knew mother and raised by Black smith father who anticipated me follow this profession. Instead, I searched for any esoteric or arcane books/manuscripts I could find.
* Exxraghres Zerghhens (in draconic "a foundling")
*Dragonborn male, 17 years of age (ca. 19, 20 in human years).
*His egg has been found during exploration by scouts of his tribe and despite objections of some elders, brought to hatchery.
Because of his uncertain origin he was given his draconic youth name. With time he accepted it but for many years he was mocked and it was used by some of his age as a tease or an insult if none of the adults were nearby.
Although his foster parents were quite high in the tribe hierarchy, none of the "noble" professions were within his reach due to his uncertain lineage. The only possible way was the way of the sword. He has joined the tribe's military. He did his best for many years and this time has made its mark on him - he got used to drill and hard training but also to a brotherhood where your life depends on those right next to you.
In his early teen years he wasn't the prime choice for a companion but got really close with one of the girls. Her attitude and willingnes to put aside his origin was all he needed to fall in love with her. They became inseparateable and he hoped in time, he would reach high enough rank to ask her father for her hand.
His origin came back couple of times as an excuse to skip his line in promotion so he has chosen to leave the tribe. Not for ever, but for long enough the guards could not ignore him in militia ranks. She stayed with the tribe but promissed to await his return one day.
Race/Age: Half Orc / 16 - olive green skin, broadshoulder, small tusks coming out of a square jaw, black intense eye and always freshly shaved head
Jurrgen is the sad outcome of the frequent raid of the orcs in the small of village of Waymoot in the King's Forest. The mother was the daughter of the many farmer that live in the village. Unfortunately she died at childbirth and the young half orc had to grow up with the hate of the grandfather who blame him and the race who he took most of his features for his beloved daughter death. Jurrgen never had much of a social life, he is not fond of books and arts, the only things he knows are how to crop a field, tend farm animals and brand a club ( passion that he grew up without his grandfather's knowledge)
There is only one person who treats him like a normal human beign, those very few times he has to go to the village. Annabelle the young blonde girl, with white candid skin, that works at the only store present in Waymoot. When he can, Jurrgen put up all is courage and goes there suffering the mean looks and the random insults from the villagers just to spend some time with her.
Nester, Nester the Elf, or to a few who know his full name: Nezietur Kaerwindel.
Everyone fights with their parents and pusheds back against tradition and tribe as they go through adolescence, but Nester took it to an extreme. We needed go over the particulars here, but in summary he was excommunicated, cast out, and unwelcome home. So he did what often wandering elves do, found a place among human society. And there he's lived the past nearly fifty years, feeling almost at home amongst the human-folk as he did in the depths of the forests of old.
Nester is still reasonably young for an elf, barely an adult by their standards. But he's lived among humans long enough to have already buried friends who've died of old age.
Nester's early training was in swordplay and arcane magic, the standard young elven training. But when he arrived in human lands those skills only took him so far, and he had to get real creative, real fast. He did whatever it took to survive. Scams, pick pocketing, eventually running with a gang. His agility was an asset that thieves could leverage, and he got good at it. So good in fact when the chance came, after decades of living off the streets, he took it. He went straight, got his life together. Eventually finding honest work doing part time private investigations. Well, honest enough.
Nester was madly in love with an elven girl outside his station, and it was she for whom he so recklessly got himself outcast pursuing. But, that is a flame that hasn't kindled in decades, and he's not seen or heard of her since. He's had his share of dalliances since, but nothing serious.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
He's an male wood elf he's just come to adult age, he's slow to trust other folks/races. But is loyal to hius friends. He prefers Bow and Arrow but can also handle himself with short swords.
The recruitment is closed (for now). I have sent PMs to invitees and wish to retain anyone who wasn't messaged as alternates (if you wish to be). If anyone finds this thread once closed, please feel free to leave your information for future openings. As a beginner game, there is a degree of come and go.

Hi Petessius, good question! I should really clarify that in the post... they're all for the PC. The player-level intros come later if selected.
