I would like to assemble a team of operatives for a daring series of heists. Think of Mission Impossible or Oceans_whatever_number. This campaign will emphasize teamwork and problem solving while de-emphasizing combat. There will be some combat of course, but if a greataxe is your solution to every problem then this is probably not the game for you. You will each be a member of an elite team that has been working together for some time and you will have to combine your skills to achieve your goals in one of many possible ways.
Please submit your application as follows:
Who are you: a bit about yourself, your experience level, time zone, how frequently would you plan to post, etc. I plan to post several times each day so I’m looking for active participants who post at lease once per day.
Who is your character: your character concept, race, class, etc. Anything officially published is fine. Legacy is fine. No flying at lvl 1, no UA, no homebrew. Point buy or Standard array. You will start at level 1 and generally you will level up after each job. Even though you will be stealing stuff, the campaign is not really geared towards evil PCs. You will need to be extra creative if you propose an evil character. Include a link to your character sheet.
I know a guy: ever notice in heist films how they always know a guy? A guy to get weapons, or passports, or cars, etc. Well your PC also knows a guy (or gal, or person). This will be an NPC who you can utilize for certain benefits. Maybe a fence, or a poisons guy, a horse guy, a member of the city guard. Tell me a bit about your guy.
Good luck to all, I look forward to seeing what sort of team we can assemble for this.
Who are you: Grungy old Aussie hippy, AEST, been playing RPGs for 35 years but only recently started D&D, I can post a minimum of once a day.
Who is your character: Nightjar Aarokokra been raised as a second story girl by the Xanathar group since they stole a bunch of eggs 5 years ago from a smuggler, her wings have been clipped so she can't get away and as a result she never had anyone to teach her to fly even now that they are beginning to recover. She sees the group that rescued her that she is now part of as her true family even though she has more than a little trouble expressing it after being treated as nothing more than a tool for most of her life. She is fiercely loyal to them and tends to react badly if someone bad mouths them in her vicinity. Aarokokra ( No Flight) Rogue Level 1. :- https://ddb.ac/characters/96809723/Z3aCDM
I know a guy: Parr knows one person allied with the Xanathar that she doesn't hate; Jumbly, a Kenku taken in around the same time as her and trained as an assessor and forger....its a little dangerous to contact them but they are the best in the business.
Who are you: United States Eastern Time but I check this site way too often and often post anywhere between my 9am and 10pm. Even wider range on weekends. (My job is slow so often posting from work.). I first played in the late 80's and then there was like a small gap of 30-35 years. Became interested again just before Covid hit and was looking into the whole Adventurer's League thing... But then Covid did hit and I've instead been playing Play by Post instead.
Who is your character: Mulligan O'Sullivan is a human (variant?) bard/rogue barfly type. He grew up in and around bars and taverns and so is the social gadfly type - He is everyone's best friend, even if he doesn't know you. He figures the shenanigans he gets up to don't matter 'cause he can always talk himself out of any situation... And he has so far mostly been right. The odd time he wasn't, well thank goodness for his little magical tricks and total willingness to run away when needed! I see Mulligan as a bit morally ambiguous but generally good hearted. My bards tend to be more about being social and good talkers than musical (more Shakespear than Beethoven?) but I do incorporate some musical bits in as well. If you've seen A Knight's Tale, the Geoffrey Chaucer character is what I am for to a large extent...
I know a guy: Mulligan always knows a guy! I would suggest that in this kind of concept for a game that Mulligan would know someone he could go to for almost anything... But so as not to overshadow others knowing a guy Mulligan's would be a lot more unreliable than theirs. Where they have tight bonds with their guy (or gal or kobold or person or...) and can count on them, Mulligan has a much more casual acquantance with a wider variety but just because he knows them doesn't mean they will help him or not turn him in?
BUT if you wanted to stick with a specific person, I would say Mulligan knows a fence. Ketch Krumstawp is a half orc who obstensibly bartends at Penn & Teller's tavern but his real profit comes from fencing stolen items and making things disappear. Mulligan alibied the towering, but portly, half orc for no reason whatsoever other than to tell a good story and pull one over on a couple town guards, and since then Ketch has had a soft spot for the troublesome Mulligan...
Who are you: I live in Sweden and have played rpgs for many years but only started with pbp two years ago. I'm very acitive and will be able to post several times per day.
Who is your character: Mazikeen is a lilim inventor who are enoying herself in Waterdeep, carousing in the nights and hunting for bounties during the days. She rarely have to resort to violence in her trade, relying on different gadgets and alchemical potions to catch her prey but she has been known to take the occasional heist assignment for the thrill of it. Mechanically Mazikeen is a feral tiefling artificer urban bounty hunter and is modelled on Mazikeen from Lucifer and Jinx from Arcane. I was hoping to flavour the spells as different gadgets and such while mechanically staying exactly as the spell.
I know a guy: Mazikeen knows Lucifer Morningstar, the owner of the tavern Lux in Waterdeep who provides her with jobs and information, a workshop in the basement that only rarely blows up, and of course a place to lay low when needed.
Who are you: Old player from the long-long ago who left the fold sometime between 3e & 3.5. Just got back into D&D in January and completed a 2 month PBP campaign. In two PBPs at the moment, but the post rate is low (1-2/day) so I thought I might try adding another. EST here, but I work 3rd shift so my sleeping hours are 8a-3p local time. Ideally I'd like something that posts in the 3-5 per day range but I'm happy going lower or higher (but be warned, I have a hard time regulating my upper limit if everyone else keeps posting).
Who is your character: Nave is a female Tiefling who grew up on the streets. She survived by pickpocketing the crowds around the street performers in her city. Will either start as a Rogue or Bard but plan on taking dips in both. True Neutral. Skittish around Paladins and religious types (read Clerics) but doesn't want to talk about it. Link is to a version of the character created for a 3rd-level single-class campaign, will modify when time permits.
I know a guy: Nave's "guy" is "the Watch", a loose network of street urchins that trade in rumors and information. The Watch is everywhere, lurking just beneath the notice of the common folk as beggars and petty thieves. If you need to know the word on the street, talk to the watch, but be ready to pay in food, favors, or coin.
Who are you: I started with D&D many years ago. I only got back into 5e D&D a few years ago and mostly play PbP. There were many other RPGs in between! I am fairly active and can usually check in briefly multiple times throughout the day, and most alway get time to follow up in the evenings. I am on the West Coast of the US. (Pacific Time Zone)
Who is your character: Windarë Treynori is a half-elf that grew up in a family of merchants. At an early age she learned to help keep the books and became an expert in calligraphy. But that was about the extent of her business skills. Having lost her father several years earlier to a winter storm, her mother passed away from illness when she was just 18. For a time she tried to keep the business afloat, but it seemed she didn't have the knack for it. Fortunately for her, a local temple of Deneir, where she had frequently gone to pray, took her under their wing. Helping her settle her business dealings, she then turned to becoming a cleric of Deneir. After completing her training, she came across an opportunity to join a team that allows her to use her knowledge in a practical way. Slightly apprehensive about this more active path at first, she does feel this is the right path for her.
I know a guy: Windarë still is good friends with Vala Breakwillow from her days in the business trade. Their specialty was with books, art, and anything associated with those areas. But Vala was always good with acquiring just about anything, given enough time.
Who are you: CST 40 m that's been playing DnD since dad let me sit down at the table with his friends playing advanced when I was 8. Skipped 4e because I was on the 3.PF train at the time, but otherwise "I've been here the whole time."
I can post once daily for long posts advancing the story. During combat encounters when posts are shorter I can probably get out 2 if needed to keep the rounds moving.
Who is your character: Joorin Quickstep is a halfling wizard that has been fascinated withe the lucky nature of his people since he was a small child. The natural talent of the Folk to turn certain disaster into just a minor scrape or sometimes even great fortune is truly a sight to behold. Now that he has graduated from the magi academy as a journeyman, ilhe must make his way in the world and perform some great act of research under his own guidance to become accepted as a true Mage in his own right. But research is expensive. So the solution? Use the world as a laboratory as himself as both researcher and test subject. And in the process gather both data and funds for further research. Perfect!
Mechanically I plan on using this character to squeeze as much out of the luck mechanics as possible. I don't plan on taking many ability score increases as we level because I have a lot of feats I want to explore. Lucky, Bountiful Luck, Second Chance will be the first 3. In addition going to be taking the school of divination subclass to pickup Portent for the luck like nature of those free dice. Ultimately I see him as a Luck Mage. I will be selecting spells based on how I can describe their effects as a lucky turn of chance.
I know a guy: Having spent time in academia, most of Joorin's contacts can be found within dusty old libraries, reading dusty old tomes. But by far his most interesting, and unreliable, contact is Stallesha; a Vedalken Warlock that heard disturbing voices in her sleep (her Great Old One patron). She was at the university as much as a patient as she was a student. She left a few years ago without exactly having permission to do so, much less permission to take those rare and precious artifacts from the department studying the Astral Sea with her. Now she is making her own way in the world, trying to find a solution to her problems...mostly how to get a full night of uninterrupted rest.
But if you are looking for someone to consult on the Occult or get you items with interesting abilities from other planes and realities, there is no one better than Stallesha...even if she can seem a bit unhinged at times.

I've been super excited for Keys! Good luck to everyone and hope to play this soon.
Who am I: I’m UTC-4, located on the US east coast. I only started playing during the pandemic, but went pretty hard into the Forgotten Realms and Wildemount, and became DM by default. I mostly run modules with small amounts of homebrew to tie in the PCs - I DM my in-person game and am a PC in two other PBP games. I like to think that I’m an engaging and respectful player (and human); generally able to post at least once a day.
Who is my character: I have an idea for an aarakocra transmutation wizard, modeled after a bowerbird - Satin is a compulsive tchotchke collector; easily distracted by shiny things; has a bit of a gambling problem. She started out as a petty thief, but graduated to surveillance/reconnaissance and espionage. She’s good at what she does, but off the clock, her flash can get her into trouble. With no flying at L1, I’d say that she’s just gotten out of the clink and can’t fly as part of her parole (which makes me laugh, ha!).
Satin knows a guy: Jonathan Maersk is Satin’s former boss - a capo/lieutenant for a gang she used to run with called the Bitters. He recruited her when she was still fresh out of the nest, and they have a bond of friendship and loyalty, despite their very different personalities. I certainly could keep spinning details (world-building is my favorite part of the game), but I’ll say for sure that he could provide a safehouse for the team in a pinch.
DM: The Sunless Citadel, Wild Beyond the Witchlight, Death House (One-Shot), Strahd Must Die Tonight! (One-Shot) Player:B'Etor(Lost Mine of Phandelver), Aisha "Honeybadger" Fitzsimmons (Call of the Netherdeep)
GroverBloom and myself have pretty similar characters up on offer so rather than make you choose between the two I would happily submit a different concept:
Who is your character: Dubh Diabhal was invited into the Shadow Bloom Monastery after being plucked off the streets by one of it's order. The group of semi-feral children Dubh ran with had attacked the elderly man hoping to get his coin purse, instead they got a beating none of them likely ever forgot. Dubh certainly didn't. He was not the strongest of the group but, at least to the elderly man, he showed the most promise. Master Mathias took the child into the monastery and offered him a different life. A different future. Dubh Dhiabal took to some of the teachings better than others - The fighting he took, the serenity partially... The cloistered life of simplicity and self sacrifice not so much. Dubh Diabhal just recently left the shelter of the Shadow Bloom Monastery and is looking to make his own life now. He'll always have family at the Monastery, a mentor in Master Mathias, and always a soft spot in his heart (and possibly coin purse) for the monks and street kids... But he is eager to enjoy life and what it has to offer.
I know a guy: The monks of Shadow Bloom have dedicated their lives to the beauty that can be found in the shadows, and how they interpret such poetic themes. As such, Dubh has no doubts he could always find sanctuary within the walls of their monastery in his home town or in other large cities that have a cloister of Shadow Bloom monks. Specifically though, Master Mathias will always be there for him in a time of need with whatever he can provide, be it shelter, food, sanctuary or a wise word or sage advice. Could other brothers of the Shadow Bloom be called upon for back up in a fight, if needed? Or insight or research on a puzzle or problem? Possibly... possibly...
Actually, the post rates picked up dramatically in one of my other games and I don't think I'd be able to pick up another and give it the proper attention.
Thanks for the opportunity, but I'm going to withdraw my submission.
Who are you: PST (California) I've played AD&D (40 years!) 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 3.5 editions, missed out 4th edition. Restarted a couple of years ago with 5e. Been playing in person with the same group for the last 20 years. It is nice to occasionally get out and meet others online for gaming sessions to get out of the rut of gaming.
Who is your character: Sigurd Stahle is Sea Elf (Ranger) who was caught at a young age in a coastal raid and sold off by slavers. Train as to work as support from the shadows, he has been the lookout for many heists and has finally freed himself after decades of indentured servitude. His ability to move about in different environments and the ability to temporarily pick up nearly any skill for a short time makes him quite useful to any group.
Sigurd know a gal: Melinda Lakeview is "fixer". Her connections to various underground groups keeps her expensive tastes satisfied. She is one of the few people who is willing to use such a dour sea elf like Sigurd, especially with his ability to do "wet work". Yes, Melinda has an odd penchance for puns, but she understands that Mr. Stahle will take hits ONLY on "villians", not people who have angered the rich and powerful.
Who Are You: I played my first 5e campaign a few years ago, and have since played several live and pbp games, as well as DMing a regular game for some of my friends. I'm in US Mountain Time (UTC-6) and can definitely post a few times a day. I've been skulking around the forum for a couple of weeks now looking for a PBP to join and think this could be a good fit!
Vivi is extensively educated, but poorly funded. She gained entrance to a prestigious university under false pretense, her imagined wealth affording her the opportunity to whet her sharp mind on the cutting edge of medical and chemical science. Alas, just before her graduation, her ruse was discovered. Now, hounded by debt collectors with her diploma hanging in the balance, Vivi has turned to more lucrative (if perhaps less ethical) sources of income...
The concept behind this character is a thief/alchemist multiclass. Vivi can brew alchemic concoctions to use later in combat, as a healer, or to overcome obstacles.
I know a guy: Gregolas Curmudgeon is a likable enough character: an elderly dragonborn alchemist known for his friendly demeanor and low prices. He is also known, among the right circles, as a purveyor of blackmarket reagents and poisons. While lesser chemists are content with the theoretical knowledge of these compounds, it takes a bold mind, unbothered by petty ethics, to see their synthesis through. Vivi and Gregolas recognized this boldness in each other during Vivi's time at University, and after some probing conversations on the validity of imposed authority, forged a bond of trust and commerce! When Vivi is looking to procure any controversial materials for her alchemic experiments, she need look no further than Gregolas Curmudgeon.
Who are you: I'm a nearly 30 year veteran of D&D, I've played in just about every game, format, narrative, and play style most people can think of. I'm in mountain time zone and am a bit sporadic on how many posts I make in a day, but usually get one or two a day if I have something to add.
Who is your character: Gemmit "Broke" Brockentusk is the guy you call when your other guy got caught by the mark. Broke is an expert at B&E emphasis on the B and handles a lot of the messier wet work and enforcement for his contacts. He's a career criminal and has narrowly escaped arrest a few times now, but he's got bills to pay and mouths to feed and he's always hopeful the next job is the "Last one before retirement"
I know a guy: Broke always wishes he knew a weapons, armor, or magic items guy, but his contact (and long time friend) is a Dwarf barkeep who goes by Moxy her and her sister Roxy are experts and laundering money and cleaning up crime scenes. Their bar cators to many of the "boots on the ground" guards and many of Broke's "accomplishments" have gone unnoticed because of it.
(Hoping to use criminal background for one contact and the "I know a guy" for the other. Broke might bend a little toward an "evil" alignment so if I'm selected I'll want to chat about ground rules for sticking to an alignment in this game)
Who are you: CST 40 m that's been playing DnD since dad let me sit down at the table with his friends playing advanced when I was 8. Skipped 4e because I was on the 3.PF train at the time, but otherwise "I've been here the whole time."

Question GM. I initially have chosen Sage as my background...but I would really like to find a way to get guidance on my spell list since it fits the whole luck Mage theme. I was wondering if you would be cool with a Strixhaven background? If i did Quandrix it would add some interesting spells to my spell list for selection later and it would let me pick up guidance as a cantrip which I could get some nice milage out of.
I know strizhaven is controversial since those backgrounds are a bit more powerful than ones published in earlier materials, so I thought I would ask before jumping on the opportunity.

Who are you: I am 30 years old. I have been playing Via Discord Voice chat for about 4-5 years now. I have rped pbp style for even longer, although it was not for dnd. I am in CST and plan to post at a minimum of once per day. I do hope to post multiple time a day.
Who is your character: Half-orc Artificer, Mirini. She developed an interest in crafting and inventing at a young age. She found enjoyment in taking things apart and rebuilding them to see how they work. As she grew older she developed a thirst for adventure and discovery. She soon set out to explore the world. (What I could come up with on the fly. Finer details may be added as I rp)
I know a guy: During her studies she met someone that was amazing at traps, Zaruruk. Setting traps, disarming traps, detecting traps. She got a few pointers on what to look out for, but she is no where near as talented as he is when it come to traps.
I will update with a sheet once I can when I get home from work.
Who are you: Mid 30s guy, GMT. I've been playing 5e for 6-7 years now, the last 2 years purely by PbP. I love that it gives me the time to think, and write up nicely narrative/descriptive posts. I can usually post at least once a day.
Who is your character: Walker is an Air Genasi, born with the powers of the storm (sorcerer). He's such a laid back guy, he's a real open book, except for any clues about where he's from. All the group have ever got out of him is that he upset some important folk back there and they're probably looking for him. You're pretty sure Walker isn't even his real name. He certainly likes to go wandering between jobs - not secretly, he'll just take off into the wilderness, or around town, going where the wind takes him. All this heist stuff isn't for the thrill, or even the money, though that's useful for funding his travels - it's to meet new people, and see new places.
I know a guy: Sinji Puddletwist, an eccentric Gnome collector of maps both ancient and modern. Walker happened to find his shop one day, and got talking to Sinji about some of the places he'd been. He was quick to realise that although Sinji knows a lot about the world through his research he's too nervous to actually go anywhere - his collection is his way of traveling. Walker likes to get ideas from him about where to go next. It also turns out that Sinji's private collection of maps extends into blueprints of a great many famous and infamous buildings, not always legally acquired, so it's always worth checking in with Sinji before any jobs to see what he's got.

(One-Shot)
Player: B'Etor (Lost Mine of Phandelver), Aisha "Honeybadger" Fitzsimmons (Call of the Netherdeep)
I've been told I am a Hobbit.
Thanks to everyone who has applied so far. I will leave it open for another day and then send out some invites on Monday.
Possibly... possibly...

Happy to play either character...
Actually, the post rates picked up dramatically in one of my other games and I don't think I'd be able to pick up another and give it the proper attention.
Thanks for the opportunity, but I'm going to withdraw my submission.
Have a wonderful campaign!

Who is your character: Vivi Mauvaux, V Human Artificer

This sounds really fun! I hope I'm not too late.

Felicia McGhee is apparently not chosen so "Bye Felicia"
Character sheet - https://ddb.ac/characters/9525110/g4WQkM I'm still trying to find a good portrait so ignore the standard one I'm using right now.
EDIT: Ah looks like I missed it, never mind!
