KINGS OF THEROS [PRELUDE]

The soft sea breeze of the Siren Sea reaches even the quiet corners of Krimnos, the seaside town. As a port city, it’s citizens are always moving, always selling, always attending to the  ever arriving travelers on the way to Meletis.

You have found your way aboard this ship, Atlas’s Revenge, one way or another. It is sailing towards Meletis, a place of trade and prosperity where you can stock up, explore, and live to your heart’s content. A new life awaits past these waves. Krimnos is barely within view- a lovely sight after days of sailing without end.

Though a howl of a sea horn breaks through the sense of relief, shaking the wood of the ship to its core. The lookout on the mast shouts a warning- a ship approaching to the right. A deadly flag waves in the winds, the black eagle coat of arms marking it as a pirate ship. Panic is spreading as men run to their stations in an attempt to spread the sails, to row faster to avoid being boarded- though it seems like it might be too late. Gaining ground quickly, the marauders approach with triumphant sounds.

Describe your character’s position on the ship and their current action- the enemy is closing in.

Cassandra Akrosakis, a young woman with short, curly brown hair and tanned skin that fades into a deep, starry blue at the edges of her face, rushes belowdecks to arm herself. She moves across the ship like a sailor, balancing easily as the ship rocks. 

*I assume our characters know each other's names?*

 *Up to yall. If you want to be strangers or assume you know eachother, be my guest. Though being on a ship with someone for days would wind up with some sort of interaction at some point probably.*

Her equipment is placed exactly where she left it by her bunk, though the rocking is throwing things everywhere.

Khaira would be on the prow of the ship.  Their dark skin and clothing stands in stark contrast with the brilliance of the sky.  They look the part of a pirate, however - a black and brown leather chestpiece, greaves, boots, and bracers, alongside a deep green cloak that ripples in the wind.  One of their eyes is covered by an eyepatch with scars underneath, evidence of a nasty blow, but the other eye pierces towards the enemy ship, glinting venom-green in the light.  Their similarly green-coloured eyeshadow seems to have been through many storms - it's dripping down the side of their cheek, further enhancing the venomous look.  Their very thick, curly black hair has been pulled back into a ponytail, so as to not impede her as she works.  Khaira's jawline is smooth but firm, set in a passive snarl.

*How long until the pirates can board? I'm going to assume Cassandra knows everyone's names. She's fairly social. And can I change the land vehicle proficiency she gets from the soldier background to water vehicles?*

She dons scale mail if she expects at least five minutes before contact, then draws a longsword and a shield. If she doesn't think there's time, she goes straight to the sword and shield.

Khaira will be preparing to send a volley of arrows after anyone who comes close.  Their bow is resting in hand.

Standing near a mast is a rather average human man. Around 5'8", unstyled brown hair, brown eyes. Altogether, the best way to describe him would be wholly unremarkable in every feature. A forgettable face. In fact... No one really thinks they recognize this man, not having seen him on the ship before. Hes currently aiming a crossbow towards the other ship, as a barrier of blue energy appears across his chest(casting Mage Armor)

The mist is obscuring the deck, hiding the crew that is shouting aboard it. The only visible parts are the massive sails and the rows of oars on the sides.

Aki’s eagle-eye like vision pierces through the veil as she picks out the shapes of several people- around 5 pirates above ground, ready to board. Only one carries a ranged weapon, a large two handed crossbow fashioned out of thick redwood. The rest carry the glint of scimitars and spears, wicked grins on their faves as they approach the ship.

 Khaira will attempt to shoot the one with the crossbow.  As they haven't taken a turn in combat, the Assassinate feature dictates the attack is made at advantage, and this will also enable Sneak Attack.  Khaira whispers to the arrow as she draws the bowstring to her lips, "May Apollo guide you true."

24 to hit with the bow, 9 piercing damage, plus an additional 10 from the crit

*After the attack hits, Khaira takes the Hide action as a bonus action*

Akakios leans against the side of the ship, breeze whipping through his dirty-blonde hair as he watches the shimmering water below. At the sound of the horn, he jolts to attention, unslinging his staff and preparing for battle.
