Have you ever been alone, and the world seemed muffled? Like, quiet and cold. That's what it was like when the Mists came.
You were camping in the woods. There was no one else around. The reason why you were alone isn't important. Maybe you wanted to be alone for a while. Maybe you don't even know.
Regardless, your fire began to sputter as a low fog crept around the edges of your camp. By morning, the fog had consumed the entire forest as far as you could see, turning the trees into gray ghosts.
Suddenly, you noticed something was deeply wrong. It wasn't autumn before, and these are not the same trees that surrounded you before.
Thera stands up and grabs a large stick to light on fire to use as a torch. He starts circling the outer edges of the camp to try and get a closer look at the trees surrounding him.

They are gnarled and grey with dull orange leaves. Some of them have grown twisted and somewhat sinister in appearance.

Thera doesn't recognize these types of trees. Confused as to where he is, he calls out into the fog. "Hello? Is anybody out there?" Muttering to himself he says, "I knew I should've brought a companion with me when I left".

After about a minute, a voice calls back. "Hello? You still here?"
A young man with pointed ears walks out of the fog, his hand hovering above the hilt of his sheathed sword. He looks around nervously, as though expecting an ambush.

Thera calls back also having their hand on their longsword, ready to draw. "I am Thera, acolyte of the temple of Bhall. Where am I and who are you?"

"You're next to the Old Svalich road. I can see how you got lost, the fog is as thick as mud today. My name is Bogdan. Do you need some help finding the road?"

"I would appreciate that" Thera let's go of their longsword and approaches Bogdan still suspicious of them. " So what brings you out here in this infernal fog?"

"I was hunting in the Svalich woods and I heard you calling out. I thought, since we're both alone, we might as well walk together. You're going to Barovia, right? I can't think of another reason you would be here if you aren't a hunter of some kind."

Thera unsure of whether he should trust Bogdan agrees with his assumption, trying not to reveal too much information about himself. " I am indeed. I will accompany you. besides, traversing the fog alone would be a fools death." Thera walks alongside Bogdan maintaining a foot of space between each other.

Thera looks around himself by the fire. He attempts to gaze into the fog to see if there is anything around him.
