Seeking four adventurers for a fun, low-pressure play-by-post campaign.
About five minutes ago, I had a terrible idea: let's do a play-by-post campaign of LMoP, except everyone is level 20 and all of the encounters are scaled up accordingly.
And so here I am. If you are interested in going down this rabbit hole with me, please submit your idea for a 20th-level character. All race, class, and background options from official 5th Edition D&D source books are allowed. Point buy for stats. You will start with your standard starting equipment, as well as 3 uncommon, 2 rare, and 1 very rare magic items, and 20000 extra gp. Characters will receive epic boons in place of leveling up.
This is for fun, so have fun with it. Be as ridiculous as you want with your character.
I am looking for just four adventurers, but I am more than willing to do two separate groups if there is enough interest. I will keep registration open until 11:59 PM Central Time on Wednesday, May 30th.
This sounds like it could be a lot of goofy fun! For my character:
Lyndis, Lv20 Wood Elf Monk (Open Hand), Folk Hero Background
STR-12 DEX-22 CON-14 INT-10 WIS-20 CHA-9
Magic Items-
Manual of Quickness of Action (which I'm assuming I'll have used before the campaign starts, thus the 22 Dex), Bracers of Defense, Quarterstaff +2, Winged Boots, Bag of Holding, Immovable Rod
I’m totally in on this. Couple of questions though.
Im going with a divine character so these things kind of matter.
- I see two locks, one fiend pact. Are we planning on taking over the town of Phandelver for ourselves?
- What god does the zealous barbarian follow?
- Would you be opposed to my character having a semi-permanent deal already in place using the Planar Ally spell?
Current thoughts
Good Oprions Aasimar Half Sibling to the fiend pact tiefling warlock. Trying to save his soul. Perhaps returning to Phandelver due to our shared parents death. Galvanizing is to work together since the Red Brands we’re responsible for the death.
Arcane Cleric 20 Aas Arcane Cleric 14 / Celestial Lock 6 Aas Cleric of Light 14 / Vengence Pal 6
Neutral Options The lands around Phandelver are hers to protect. Recent monster activity around the area and Wave Echo Cave being active again cause her to take notice and restore balance once again.
Evil Options The rich lands of Phandelver and the rumors of an ancient mine, able to produce magical weapons draw him here. He intends to take over the land and rule it for himself/god.
Yuan Ti Cleric / Paladin Conquer Hill Dawrf Dwarf Cleric 20 Scourge Aas? Possibly Fallen Paladin
I, like Greycastle, have far too many ideas. Just pick your favorite.
Throgrin Ironarm, LG hill dwarf Forge cleric. "And thou shalt craft a Holy Hand Grenade; and I shall give unto thee a design for the Holy Hand Grenade which thou shalt craft."
Corundum, LG earth genasi Battle Master fighter. Walks softly, talks softly, and carries a big stick.
Westra Brightwood, NG human Hexblade warlock. Focuses on melee and ranged combat.
Cinder, CG fire genasi War Mage. Tactical genius and pyromancer; fiercely loyal and fiercely independent.
Ubo, LN tortle Knowledge cleric/Open Hand monk. As wise as they come.
Berrik Oakheart, LN hill dwarf Land druid. Originally designed for LMoP, back in '17.
Kagawa Tametaki, LN human Samurai fighter. Arbitrary, potentially suicidal code of honor.
Ytheinel, LN white dragonborn Draconic sorcerer. Acts like a dragon.
Karth, LN githzerai Open Hand monk. Prefers knowing that he can trust the ground he walks on not to turn into a flock of canaries the second he stops concentrating on it.
Jonglang, N human Drunken Master monk. Always--and I do mean always--drunk, asleep, or both.
Kerrhylon Bharash, N blue dragonborn Storm Herald barbarian. Lives for battle.
Shannay Crysalek, CN human Divine Soul sorcerer. Possibly with a dip in Kensai monk.
Fayneorolennisonothiel "Faylen" Aecerranne, CN eladrin Glamour bard. Really wants to become a true fey.
I can do an evil character if it turns out to be an evil campaign. If you don't like any of those characters, tell me and I'll come up with another batch.

Haseid grew up as the son of the merchant prince Mehmen Khalid of Calimport. Living on his father's wealth his youth was one of abundant pleasures but also of boredom as his every whim was taken care of by numerous servants.
So when rumors of the "Darkenstaff" deep within the Tomb of the Nine Gods began to surface he hired a band of adventures to accompany him on what he thought to be a walk on the wild side. His companions where Garruk Oakbender a dwarven cleric of Haela Brightaxe, Aramel the high-elven arcane trickster, Darastrix our lizardfolk hunter and our Uthgardian siblings Boris of the elk clan a totem warrior and of course the pearl of the north Gwen the beautiful skald.
Haseid was immediately enamored with her exotic beauty, her foreign behaviour and her peregrine posture. They had a wonderful time together alas when the time came he made the wrong decision. As the party ventured deeper and deeper into the ill-omened structure destiny took it's toll.
Darastrix was the first to fall sliced to pieces by spinning scythes. Then Garruk was crushed to death be boulders falling from the ceiling. When we opened the door to the final chamber we could already see the staff atop his dais. But just as we were about to enter the final chamber, Boris was felled by a tiny needle to the chest bearing a deadly toxin.
It was then that Gwen made me choose between her and the staff that was within our grasp "Haseid", she said with tears welling up " that staff is nothing but ill luck. I've just lost my brother and two friends. Let us return before any more harm comes to us." We could have left and leave the treasure to Aramel but I made the wrong decision and grapped the staff myself, immediately feeling empowered beyond my wildest imagination. It was also the time that Aramel decided to betray his remaining comrades slicing Gwens throat. Without a chance to fight the experienced rogue alone I struck a deal with the "Darkenstaff" and together we overcame Aramel much to his surprise as he became paralyzed by the staffs power and I crushed his skull with a dozen swings to his head .
Since then I resisted any further deals with the "Darkenstaff" but he seems content with me traversing the north and casting Darkness on different locations of his chosing.
And Haseid is also content with his part of the deal which allows him to visit the land of exotic beauties like Gwen and occasionally casting a spell for the staff.
I'm hoping this is still a go. I submit for your review Frihild Oal, a plump, old female dwarf. To look at her, you'd never think she was an adventurer; she dresses fine and acts proper. Truth is, she was a priestess of Moradin until well into her third century before Marthammor Duin, exarch of Moradin, appeared to her and challenged her to leave the life she had known for so long. He told her Moradin was pleased with her great devotion and he wished she travel the continent supporting good and fighting evil. Without hesitation, she started adventuring. It has been many years and her experiences are vast. Though she has spent all these years on the road, she has not lost a taste for creature comforts. She is jovial and compassionate, but strict and very devoted to Moradin.
I will go with Tonk Thunderclaw. She can work with the party either way it decides to go.

Since we're making Level 20 characters, would they also get the Ability Score increases that normally come with leveling up?
