Seeking Co-storytellers for a Princes of the Apocalypse Theatre of the Mind PbP
“You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.” – Robin Williams
Hi Folks,
I’m looking for two or three lovers of writing to share in creating a 90% roleplaying PbP story. We’ll use the Princes of the Apocalypse adventure to provide the scaffolding to create a unique story in our theater of the mind. Relationships between characters and their NPCs, story arc, states of mind, interesting dialog: these are the things that get me excited.
Daily posting is what I am looking for from participants. It’s something I do while commuting on the subway. Thinking about my next post -- or reading yours -- keeps me entertained, and the miles fly by. Looking for two or three grown ups like myself who can participate regularly, despite the irregularities of life. If you’re interested, post a placeholder here, and PM me and tell me your thoughts.
This sounds like a great time, I'm 27 and a newbie to D&D aside from listening to / watching some amazing podcasts for the past couple of years, but write in my spare time and thought this RP heavy campaign would serve me best. So out of curiosity, does experience level matter in this case? And would it be hosted here or on Discord?
Character : Shay Quill
Gender : Female
Race : Half Elf
Class : Druid
Backstory : TL;DR - Shay comes from a small city where she thrived academically and had a deep love for learning new things as well as traveling beyond the city walls. She was forced to leave one night not long after a mysterious sickness came into the village and heavily effected elf magic, weakening it. Her mother who'd recently fallen ill herself was arrested alongside many other elves under the suspicion of stealing from one of the Noble families and Shay watched helplessly while doing nothing for fear of being targeted herself. She stole away later that night in search of her former friend who'd left the year prior on a self discovery journey for her family influence in potentially letting her mother and other innocents go, as well as search for a cure and root cause for the initial cause for the elf targeted illness while on the road. (Backstory can be tweaked depending on what's needed story telling wise haha).

Thanks for responding. Interesting backstory! To answer your questions, I'll use the 5e ruleset, and set starting level depending on how many players join. At least 3rd level, maybe 5th.
We'll play/write on DNDB.
Regarding backstory, POTA has a variety of Factions and Hooks, and each player chooses one of each for their character. They serve to propel the character into the specific narrative and events of the POTA story. I'll PM you the options.
Thanks I’ll go over it when I have time. I skimmed it earlier and saw there was tons of factions and potential backstories to get into. I saw that the story of POTA requires a one time purchase too and figured I’d wait on that while more slots become available as far as players go. How long have you played DND btw?

Me and DND? I started in the 70s, played a wide variety of games in high school and college. Took many years away after that, then got back into TTRP games during the pandemic.
There’s no need to purchase POTA, as I can enable content sharing once I set up the campaign.
Not familiar with Princes of the Apocalypse and what I saw online wasn't terribly enlightening. What types of characters are you looking for? What sort of post-rate? I know you said daily but are you thinking one a day or closer to 3-5?
Sorry, too many questions. Here's my placeholder and I'll PM if/when I think I have a decent character idea.

Thanks for your interest! Type of character - POTA offers a variety of motivations and factions. I’ll give you more info after you PM me. You don’t need to PM me a specific character idea at this point. Just establishing lines of communication.
Daily posts, and if dialogue is happening, faster posting will be possible. It just depends on circumstances in the story.
If there are still slots opened, I wouldn't mind tossing my hat in on this. PotA is one of those modules I've tried to DM, but have not done well, so I would love to see how someone else runs it. I can DM you some character ideas, based on what I remember of the module.
I sent you a pm. I am very interested in your game and would love to create a character that would be a good fit. I have never played pota but I love to RP and am able to post frequently. let me know if you need any more information from me.
