Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos

Background: Acolyte
Backstory: Kierro's origin lies in a war-torn homeland, where conflict raged. In a bid to end the bloodshed, Kierro, with his innate compassion and healing abilities, applied to and was selected to attend Strixhaven Academy. His hope is to become a diplomat and use his skills to bring about peace. Yet to embark on his academic journey, Kierro carries the weight of his war-torn homeland as motivation, dreaming of a future where he can mend the wounds of his city and end the suffering.
Character Description: Kierro possesses an aura of serene divinity. With a lean frame and warm brown hair framing his face, his eyes radiate compassion. Clad in flowing white robes adorned with golden symbols, he bears the mark of Pelor, his patron deity, around his neck. Kierro moves with purpose, his hands marked by countless healings. His soothing baritone voice carries the quiet power of celestial realms, offering solace and uplifting all who listen. In his presence, one senses a connection to a higher purpose - a beacon of light in a world often shadowed.
RP Sample:
Kierro steps forward, kneeling before the angel in the Temple of Pelor. His mentor. His ancestor. "Lady Celavir. How may I serve?" He asks, his voice radiating warmly throughout the sanctum.
The angel smiles, reaching into her robes and withdrawing a letter. "Today is not a day for service, my child, but for celebration. This is for you, Kierro. Strixhaven has accepted you."
With a gasp, the young aasimar reaches out, taking and reading the letter. Tears of joy start to fall, threatening to blot out the ink, but he wipes them away. "Then... then I can pursue my dream... I can try to end this terrible war. You must have made sure my application got through - thank you, Lady Celavir!"
A soft, rare chuckle emanates from Celavir. She shakes her head and walks forward, placing a hand on her descendants shoulder. "No, Kierro. Your hard work alone has allowed you to reach this point. I am a guide, not someone who will pull strings for you behind the scenes."
Gazing up, he nods resolutely. "I'll make you proud... I promise! I'll work as hard as I can, become the best healer and diplomat I can possibly be, and I'll protect all the people I cherish!"
Celavir nods. "Then go, my child. Prepare your things; you leave tomorrow."
"Yes, Lady Celavir!" Kierro springs to his feet, bows reverently to the angel one last time, and hurries out to get ready. The angel stands alone in the sanctum. She gazes up through the skylight, toward the sun. Toward Pelor. A soft prayer is whispered before she dissapears.

Backstory:
Sorry was born into a wealthy human family in a large city, raised in his family’s Manor, in isolation from others because of his appearance. He was told by his parents that he was born a tiefling and given magic as some sort of blessing from the gods. He was born with an innate affinity with darkness. All clothes he wore quickly became grey after a few hours, his shadow moved separately from his body, and he sometimes didn’t seem to blink or breathe. Despite this connection with the shadows, he was very active and lively as a child and still is. He loved playing games with his teachers and writing poems, and talking about history. Because his parents told him to study daily for hours and work harder and harder, By the time he was 12, he could beat his tutors in games of strategy and could write and speak with a silver tongue.
as he got older, his magic grew with it. He could move the shadows around him and he had some sort of strange control over ink, being able to manipulate it and make it float. He started to grow bored of his conversations with his tutors and longed for someone new to talk to. One day he decided, he was going to sneak out. In the middle of the night, about to fly out the window of his mother’s Study, he noticed some papers on their desk with a strange seal. He read them, which turned out to be sent by someone trying to blackmail his family, threatening to reveal how they acquired their vast wealth: Theft.
Sorry, shocked at the secret he had just discovered, decided not to sneak out yet (he later does multiple times) and instead try to find out more, keeping what he learned a secret from his parents. Over the next few days, he discovered his parents used to be thieves whole stole hundreds of valuable jewels before getting new identities, and living out the rest of their lives in paradise. Unfortunately, a wizard cursed them while trying to stop them. They cursed them so that their child would be touched by the shadows and have a monstrous appearance. This lead him to becoming interested in his own magic, and what it could do, as it had resulted from a curse but had granted him power. And so, over the next few years he works to learn how to control and strengthen his magic, while also advancing academically extraordinarily quickly. Soon, he applied to Strixhaven and was accepted. His parents didn’t approve as they didn’t want him to attend any sort of school, instead wanting him to try and gain some sort of political power for the benefit of the family. He is determined to convince them that this would be good for him, and that this will open up lots of opportunities for him. He also tells them that it will help him learn more about his magic, a topic they both encouraged him to learn about.
Their goals are to grow more powerful as a sorcerer, and to become a more skilled speaker in general, and to graduate from Silverquill college (partially for his own interests, partially to please his parents)
he is energetic and talkative, loving to talk about a wide variety of academic topics and literature. He hates bullies and people who force others to do bad things, and manipulators. He hopes that he can inspire others and help to demoralize bullies and bad people. He does fear that others might hate him because of his appearance, as that’s what his parents told him people would do as a child. He tries to be as positive as he can but certain things can make him very irritated. As a result of meeting a few humans who insulted him on sight when he did sneak out, he instinctively reacts to insults by insulting them back. He is chaotic good.
description:
Sorry is a short Tiefling with grey skin, black hair and large bat wings. His teeth are pointed and his curve slightly before pointing back. His eyes are black with white dots as pupils. On his belt is his arcane focus, a bottle of endless magical ink he uses to cast his spells. The bottle was a gift from his parents to help him with his shadow magic. He is wearing some sort of mix between the regular strixhaven uniform and the type of clothes Silverquill students usually wear, completely greyscale. I am bad at describing clothes but I’ll just post the picture.
this art is not mine, it’s by the YouTuber ABD illustrates and is just the design inspiration for this character (it doesn’t have the wings though)
RP sample:
As soon as he opened the letter that appeared next to him in a flash of blue light, he was already out the door. Sorry rushed down the stairs, two steps at a time, holding the letter in one hand and holding on to the bannister with the other. He was smiling for the first time in days. He rushed from the stairs and into his Mother’s Study.
”Mother! I was accepted! I was accepted into Strixhaven!”
”hmm? Oh, yes, that’s wonderful. But will you come back to help us-“
”-Of course, mother! I’ve said that so many times. Where’s Father? Is he still at that meeting?”
”Yes, now I’m busy. Shouldn’t you be studying?”
”…Mother, I was doing that just before the letter-“ his mother wasn’t paying attention, reading a piece of parchment, not even looking at Sorry. After a few moments, he sighs and walks out of the study, flying up the stairs to his room, his excitement fading.
Backstory: Sam was born into a family of warriors, be it fighters or barbarians mostly, magic use was rarely used, and it was expected of her as a member of a legendary bloodline such as hers to enter the military and become a soldier, but early in life she showed magic capabilities, she's a sorcerer, the first in her family for quite a long time. When it came time she chose to apply to Strixhaven, hoping to learn to better learn and understand her magical powers.
Description of your character: She has long, curly red hair and blue eyes, with very pale skin. Her skin is cold to the touch, a sign of her cold powers. She's a realist, but quite optimistic still, assuming the best until she has reason not to, she's usually quick to make friends, being charismatic as she is, which leads her to be somewhat too full of herself sometimes.
RP sample: Samantha gets called down by her mother, "Samantha! Something came in for you from the post, from that school you applied to," Sam quickly runs down from her room and grabs the letter, opening it quickly. As she reads the letter her face lights up, "I.. I made it! I was accepted!!" She runs back upstairs, still happily clutching her accepted letter, and starts to pack her trunk, preparing for the school year to start.
Backstory: Neidra was born into the illustriously wealthy Delminya family. Her parents are Vod and Klarissa Delminya, and while the Delminya clan are all incredibly wealthy and successful, Vod and Klarissa Delminya are the richest of the bunch. Both are incredibly successful merchants, and their success is known far and wide. It's rumored that their wealth and fortune is due to a pact made with devil a few generations ago, but nobody knows for sure.
Since birth, Neidra has known a life of luxury and wealth. Her every want and desire was met promptly, so she never wanted for anything. Her parents, while they did love her after a fashion, were never very involved in her life. They were always busy dealing with business deals and trade meetings, always planning how to accumulate more wealth and prestige rather than spending quality time with Neidra. They believed in showing their love for their daughter by giving elaborate and expensive gifts, traveling to distant and exotic lands, and so on.
Because of her sheltered upbringing, Neidra is, well, quirky to put it lightly. She roughly has the social skills of a peanut, though that peanut would probably still be more socially adept than her. Because of her lack of social skills, her parents "bought" her some friends, actors who were paid to befriend Neidra. They eventually asked to be released from their employment as they quickly became annoyed or perturbed by Neidra's maturity, forwardness, bluntness, and lack of ability to make friends. She was way too mature for her age, always serious, always asking questions about concepts that most children shouldn't be able to grasp. She seemed more interested in being involved in the world of adults than playing with kids her age.
Because of this, instead of sending her toys to play with, her parents began hiring tutors and teachers to teach Neidra whatever her little heart desired. While other kids her age would play pretend and imagine they were in some sort of battle, Neidra would want to learn about all of the historical nuances and details of ancient battles that scarred the land centuries ago. Her keen mind devoured facts and knowledge at a voracious rate.
Neidra enjoyed her life of an academic, yet as she grew older, she felt like she was missing someone. On her many carriage rides with her parents to various trade deals and meetings, she would often gaze out the window and watch with curiosity the interactions of normal folk. Despite their apparent lack of wealth, they seemed... happy. They seemed to have something, some sort of connection with each other. Neidra couldn't quite place her finger on what it was at first, but after an extensive study of social interactions, Neidra determined that most people had friendship. They had connection. Neidra wanted that, but it was something money could not buy. She had no idea how to obtain what she desired subconsciously desired most: affection and kinship. While she had gotten everything she had ever wanted from her parents, she had never truly known love.
Her choice to attend Strixhaven wasn't surprising. Since it was the most prestigious and well-known college out there, it seemed like a natural choice for Neidra to attend. In her studies, Neidra had taken an interest to abjuration magic. There was something about the strictness, the authority that abjuration carried that Neidra just adored. Despite her excitement to attend Strixhaven for the wealth of knowledge it held, she couldn't help but be excited for the opportunity to start a new life in a place where nobody knew who she was. She was excited for a fresh start where she could start working on her real goal for attending Strixhaven: to discover what friendship is.
Description: Neidra is a rather strict, scholarly woman with a dry personality. While others like doing things, she likes studying about all sorts of activities, but she usually never ends up doing them. She is socially inept despite her best efforts.
You can tell she is a strict, no-nonsense sort of person just by looking at her. Her platinum blonde hair is pulled into a tight bun, of which not a single hair escapes. Her thin face is always frozen in perpetual concentration, brow furrowed, olive-green eyes slightly squinting, and thin lips pursed as she constantly ponders about either something she learned recently or something she is looking at. She doesn't look very friendly, which doesn't aid her in her efforts to be social. Her hawkish nose is usually buried in a book while at home when she studying.
RP sample:
"Read it to me one more time," Neidra commands in her shrill, penetrating voice.
Her butler, a rotund and balding man, looks up from the sheet of parchment grasped in his hand with an annoyed expression on his pudgy face. This was the eleventh time she had asked him to read the letter, but he knew better than to say no to the pampered young woman. Sighing, he clears his throat and begins reading in his nasally voice,
"Dear Delminya Household,
"We are pleased to inform you of the acceptance of one Neidra Delminya to the most prestigious Strixhaven, the world's premier school of arcane learning..."
As the butler drones on as he reads the rest of the letter, Neidra closes her eyes and mouths the words of the letter as they are read. She had memorized the flowing script by the third reading, but hearing the words again filled her with such excitement! She could feel her heart fluttering inside of her chest, thumping against her ribcage in an ecstatic crescendo. This was her chance she had been longing for, an opportunity to discover what had eluded her for her entire life: friendship. She was daunted at the prospect of visiting a new place like the campus where she would be surrounding by countless strangers, but at the same time, it excited her.
She suddenly stands, interrupting the butler's reading.
Blustering, he sputters in a stately tone, "M'lady, I have not yet finished what you have requested. Maybe you should sit back down as I-"
Neidra interrupts the man's objection with a raised hand. "Thank you, but I must begin packing. I have much I need to plan for."
"But m'lady, the semester doesn't start until August. You still have three months!"
But Neidra had made up her mind already. While she did have three months, she would be using all of that time preparing and planning on how to succeed at Strixhaven. One could never have enough time to plan after all.
Lifting the hem of her elaborate yellow dress slightly so it didn't drag on the floor, she begins briskly walking on the polished marble towards her suite that contained her bedroom. As she does, plans and lists of information begin scrolling through her thoughts as she already begins planning for the school year. Leaving her confused and annoyed butler behind, a small smile forms on her normally pursed lips as she sees her plans and thoughts begin to unfold. Yes, she was going to enjoy being at school.
Aquila grew up as an orphan on the busy streets of Thistle City. All his life, he could near a faint call but could never find it within the walled city. He could seek out the call, often seeking it out near the walls wher many other poor and desperate of the city reside. Never able to leave the walls himself.
During a sudden storm, Aquila sought shelters in one of the many makeshift shelters of many dark alleys of the city where he met mister Shade. A druid who claims he was once the First druid of a grove before being exiled. Through Mister Shade, Aquila learned of his druidic abilities. For short time later, Aquila would learn he could, taking his lessons before Mister Shade told of a school where Aquila will find his potential and Shade would try to get him in, Aquila had been promised much in his life and never expect anyone to follow through.
Description of your character:
A young gnome with wild black hair and dark green eyes. Generally has a very shabby mismatching clothes and dirty appearance as he wears what he can find and never heard of a bath before.
RP sample:
"Mister Shade? Mister shade? Hello?" Aquila carefully enters the ransack wooden shelter to find none of the herbs, trinkets or even junk that Shade would have hanging from the ceilings. It was disturbingly quiet despite the hustle and bustle of the city just feet away.
Aquila squints his eyes as he see something spinning slowly near the back of the shelters, he ventures a few more steps, unnerved by lack of any life until he reaches out to the folded paper, unwrapping it from the string and opens it to find two letters folded together first letter is written in Druidic, It's mister Shade explaining he has taught Aquila all he will need to know but while seeds may just need water, soil and light to grow, Aquila need to see the world. He put in a word or two and gotten him a letter to Strixhaven. Looking the official letter, "It's looks fancy I guess.....," He looks at the letter with shiny letters and symbols, before turning it over and back, turning all ways around looking for something then looking around the empty shelter "What do need for school?"

Description: A 6'3 elderly man, with thick yarn-like gray hair down almost to his shoulders, and a five-inch long Chinese mustache. He wears dark robes, and has dull tanned skin. His left eye is ocean blue, and his right eye is gray.
Backstory:His brother took everything. Dreams of the shadow were too frequent. And his life study, the secret of magic, was still out of reach. All he needed was a page of notes. a page he could never write. He worked later and later into the night. The dim candles flickered by the open window, moonlight filling the room like a ghostly haze. His parrot slept softly in the corner. The soft creaking of the floorboards crept towards the library. "You don't have to keep doing this, sir. I have what you seek." Yvas turned around. A strange man in sky-blue robes was there, his golden red hair brushing his shoulders as he walked. "I saw you with Kygga the other day. You seek the secrets of magic. I have that."
Yvas recognized this man; he had appeared in the vision a month ago. The man from the dream pulled out the book. "Micans Tome..." Yvas stated in awe. "How is it that you have a copy? You're with the Golden Guild, then?" The man nodded. His pale ocean eyes seemed to flash as he smiled. "But if you want this book, I need this one thing from you. I need your soul. Just for a time, for my magic. You can earn it back through deeds." Yvas thought for only a second. He needed this secret. The sound of rain pattered against the mahogany roof. "I'll take the offer."
Yvas became successful in his studies, learning at Stonehive College and sharpening his skills. But his worry grew even deeper: he didn't have a soul. He needed to earn it back and now had the quest to do it. "For honor, for chaos, may the sands of time be in destiny's favor!"
Roleplay Example: Yvas saunters into the dim library, golden candlelight blossoming along his dry skin. He fingers through the line of books before turning towards the tiefling. "It isn't here, Corraz." He says in his usual low and careful tone. Yvas lifts a candle. "I have spent my life searching for the secrets of magic. And now I'm finally here. But if I can't succeed," Yvas snaps his fingers and the candle blows out, leaving the room in an eerie haze, "Then I'll belong to the devil." The tiefling laughs. "With all due respect, old man, you're overthinking this. You had a late start. So what. You have magic-" "I was cheated by a devil, Corraz. I traded my soul for magic, only to find this magic school soon after! I'm 77. There is no time."
Yvas looked over the tiefling before pinning his robes to the wall with his ophidian dagger. "I know who you are. You're with the rogue I met in the East. Chaos is coming, Corraz. And I won't fall for it again." Yvas pulled out a folded piece of parchment, charred in one corner. "A question from an archaeologist. He needed information from me on a High Elf Aristocrat. I couldn't find it, and missed his cremation as well." Yvas removed the dagger from the wall, placing a gold coin in the crack for the librarian to repair it. "As you wish, sir." The tiefling says softly as he looks through the books. "It was stolen. But I know a monk that can help you. Now, you promised me 6 silver." Yvas hands him a single silver coin with "Six" engraved on it. He disappears the the wind into the sea.
Edit: I was allowed I reroll on stats, see post 44 on this thread,
Melancholy is the fifth daughter born to her house and the most disappointing of the lot....at least in her mothers eyes....its not that the young lady is dim-witted.....just......easily distracted........and far too interested in vampires for anyones comfort, her bedroom is festooned with posters of luminaries of the vampire world such as Strahd, Vlad Tolenkov and Kas when her mother would rather have it decorated with alchemical tables and mineral charts. Her mother refuses to call her Melancholy opting instead for her birthname of Dewi.
Melancholy applies herself diligently to her studies.......sometimes....though to be fair most of her time is spent daydreaming and writing fanfic......and thinking about vampires...

as he got older, his magic grew with it.
Art
this art is not mine, it’s by the YouTuber ABD illustrates and is just the design inspiration for this character (it doesn’t have the wings though)

Character name: Samantha Silverblade
Race Human
Class Silver Draconic Sorcerer
Background: Sage

Ability scores: 10 11 10 17 14 12
Name: Neidra Delminya
Race: Human, but using Custom Lineage
Class: Wizard, eventually Abjurer
Ability scores: 16 14 17 14 12 13
Background: Scholar

Character Name: Yvas Silverheart
Race: Variant Human
Class: War Magic Wizard
Background: Sage
Description: A 6'3 elderly man, with thick yarn-like gray hair down almost to his shoulders, and a five-inch long Chinese mustache. He wears dark robes, and has dull tanned skin. His left eye is ocean blue, and his right eye is gray.
Backstory: His brother took everything.

-Name: Velius
-Race: MOTM Kobold
-Class: Sorcerer (draconic)
-Background:
-Backstory: Velius insists that his dad is a dragon and tries to bring it up almost every conversation, especially when meeting new people. of course, people don't beleive him. that tiny kobold? the progeny of a mighty dragon? perposterous. thing is, Velius is right. born to the cheiftain of a kobold clan, when he was just a baby, giants enslaved his clan and demanded a sacrifice, so the kobolds gave up Velius, left him on a rock to be a slave/snack for giants. A dragon found him and took him in, teaching him the way of the dragon.
-Description: Velius holds himself confidently, proud of his "papa" and his draconic heritage. he is very small, standing just over 1 foot tall, but his large personality more than make up for it. he constantly buffs and shines his silver scales, to the point it almost hurts to look at him, and woe betide anyone who gives him a reflective surface. his huge eyes are bright blue and very inquisitive
