Our story begins within the sprawling urban tapestry of Waterdeep, a majestic port city draped in wonders and mystery in equal measure. Nestled along the Sword Coast, its cobblestone streets wind through a labyrinth of districts, each with their own personality. From the bustling Dock Ward to the refined splendor of Castle Ward, Waterdeep is a city of contrasts.
Our tale, however, unfolds in the shadows of this vibrant city, where a group works in secret. They take less than legal jobs, testing their cunning and skill against those of the powers that be. This group - your group - is relatively new to the underbelly of Waterdeep. The tasks you've been hired for have, thus far, been smaller jobs. Petty thievery, forgery, impersonation of minor figures. It's not particularly prestigious, but it's still quite lucrative. For the most part you've proven to be reliable - if at times a little unorthodox. Your reputation grows rapidly within Waterdeep, and you feel in your bones that a big job is just around the corner. A job that will put your name on the map.
Who are you?
Introduce yourselves briefly, limiting it only to information your colleagues would know.
Brief intro
What you bring to the table
Your most memorable job to date
Your biggest complaint about the job
Las, but not least, prospective customers need to refer to you somehow - so what's your group called and how do you operate?
Hey all, my name is Commodore Phineas Featherbottom (well I want more from this character :P)
1. Brief Intro
You see in front of you a tall 2m15cm hippo like creature, dressed in navy uniform towering over most people, big ball of mass but also quite muscular. You all get the sense that he could easily switch weapons and change stances in an instant, quite a feat for a creature of it's size.
You can call me Phin, I have been around the seas most of my life, worked in boats and in the navy for the better half of the last 3 decades (from 12 years old). I had my own fleet of ships under my command and under undisclosed circumstances I am part of this group sometime now, longing for adventure and the coin that comes with that, redeeming for a past that I never chose and was handed to me by fate.
2. What you bring to the table
Phin is a LVL1 Giff Fighter wielding a rapier in one hand and a pistol on the other. He is one that is hard to bring down given his size but also nimble enough to be able to squeeze through any problem that we had till now as a group. That said he is not the most charismatic of creatures but what he lacks in character and whit he over compensate in pizazz and flair!
He wears studded leather armor and has a normal adventurers pack inventory with 10GP.
3. Your most memorable job to date
One of our last adventures where I had to sneak through enemy lines from water keeping safe a fellow creature in my mouth for the whole duration. I enjoyed this quite a lot but I cannot say the same for the creature trapped there for sometime :P
4. Your biggest complaint about the job
I always wanted to be the stealthy person in all the groups I was part with, but ended up being the biggest and tallest which usually doesn't really work well with being.....stealthy..... Also more jobs close to the see would be nice :P It's my second nature (or even the first).
Group Name suggestions: - The Magikarpers - SplishSplash - The Flounders - Jaws of the Lion (stolen from Gloomhaven :P)
"Name's Arkin Silverware, *hushed tone* what can I procure for ya?"
Brief intro
You see a tiny guy in front of you, a halfling wearing a mischievous smile and black clothing. You already know by how he present a himself that Arkin is a thief by profession, and an experienced one at that.
What you bring to the table
Arkin is a LVL1 Halfling Rogue wielding a short sword, and also possessing a short bow. He is small and nimble, with charisma to boot, and most importantly, has loads of thieving experience. He comes from severe poverty, and slowly made a good living for himself by becoming an expert in "item procurement" as he likes to call it.
He wears leather armour and possesses standard rogue pack including thieve's tools, crowbar etc and 15GP.
Your most memorable job to date
Procuring a previously stolen magical sword from Menzoberranzan back to its rightful owner in Elturel. What a great adventure that was through the under dark! But what a pain in the arse that talking magical sword was, with its constant nagging and moral high ground talk. I wish it would have just shut the hell up, but that never happened!
Your biggest complaint about the job
"An unseen thief is a happy thief!" Arkin likes to say, meaning he dies not like getting caught and prefers to be shrouded in stealth throughout the during of the job.
You see in front of you a tall, dark-robed elf with face half hidden in shadows. A shortsword is strapped to their back. They nod at you in greeting and say: "Tel' Guenhyvar"
What you bring to the table
Tel' Guenhyvar is a Lvl 1 monk whos fists are just as deadly as his sword is. They have worked in waterdeep for a number of years already as bounty hunter - but also get hired for when someone needs to be disposed of quietly and without leaving a trace. Their name is Elvish and means "The Shadow" - it's the only name anyone knows. Unsurprisingly they are also proficient on the usage of Thieves Tools as well as Tinker's Tools and they speak Common, Elvish and Dwarvish.
Your most memorable job to date
There was this bounty contract on some low-life who thought they could cheat a major Waterdhavian drug lord. They took off with loads of money but no one had any clue where they were hiding. After using my extensive connections within the city I located them, hiding out in a highly guarded and locked up house. I managed to sneak in through the roof, got the job done, found some nice gems to pocket on the way out and cashed my reward. That idiot was so paranoid they didn't allow anyone to come close - it took about a week before anyone discovered that they had parted from the living. Imagine that.
Your biggest complaint about the job
People should know what they hire me for. My name is my motto so don't expect me to frolic around in high society and chat up my next targets. I despise socializing so if that is what you are after, if you look for someone who can blend in well and charm people into doing things - look elsewhere.
