Long, long ago, magic existed. It was a gift given from the powers above to their chosen heroes and worshippers. It could fix all of your problems in minutes, whether that was lighting a city or destroying armies. It was beautiful and powerful–unlocking worlds of wonder. But it wasn’t perfect–it had one weight to drag it down. Not everyone could use it–it wasn’t an everyday convenience. So the lightbulb was invented–was it wrong for ordinary people to want some magic of their own? Then transport vehicles. One day the Web, the next the FTL plane. Magic was slowly oppressed and sent down to the lowest levels of society. Skyscrapers and metal birds filled the planets until these once-magical beings had conquered their galaxy. Total population estimates ranged from five to ten quintillion people. Planets ranged from sprawling cities to woodlands and deserts. Monsters still live, for as long as there is magic, there are monsters. Dark with light, yin with yang. However, most have been integrated with society–it’s not uncommon to find kenku begging in the streets or gnolls working in a factory. Technology is at its peak while magic is at its valley.
