This is a private closed pbp for an ongoing discord campaign. If you just stumbled onto it, sorry, it's not supposed to make sense to you.
Welcome players! We are going to be using this thread in tandem with our discord game. Mainly what will happen here is all the stuff that's not critical to the story, possibly some side quests, and non-combat.
We will also be doing rolls here, sharing links for items and monsters and of course maintaining our characters through dndbeyond.
Intro and some background for the campaign coming soon :)
You've all grown up here in this nice corner of the world among rolling hills and meandering streams. Life is good. No one wants for anything or has any need to travel outside of The Dale. You've all been friends for as long as you can remember and none of you thought it odd that you would train so hard. Nor that you would have special visitors who would come to The Dale for months at a time to work with you each on your craft. For you it's just the way life was.
Most days you'd wake, have breakfast, and spend the morning helping with the fields and gardens, or on the looms, or in the workshop. You'd get a couple free hours for lunch and private affairs and then you'd start your specialized training. This would go on until dinner and then you'd have most nights free. It was rare that anyone spoke about leaving The Dale or having any kind of grand plans that would take them away from home. When anyone did speak about leaving it was usually after being too far in the cups and would be forgotten by morning.
Sometimes you'd joke with your friends about heading off to far away lands to have grand adventures. Be like someone from the story or history books you've read or heard about. You'd poke fun at each other. “Look, there goes Zesis, he's a wizard of great renown dontcha know!” and “Here comes Dozur just back from playing for the King!” but you all knew it was just in good fun. None of you would ever really leave The Dale...
On this particular evening you had all finished your training and were heading down to the river to get some fishing in before it got full dark. The sun was just dipping below the highest hill. The perfect time to catch the big ones! The walk is the same you've all made hundreds of times and you're all joking about who's going to catch what, barely looking where your going as your feet know the way.
The evening insect song is beginning to fill the air with chirps and buzzes, every now and again being outdone by the call of an owl. The air smells fresh and moist as you get closer to the river. It seems like the perfect evening for sitting by the river with a line in the water.
Nobody would have guess that there's something afoot.
No really, something is a foot. There on the edge of the river. It looks like, well, a foot!
