As some of you may know, I recently had to have surgery, as well as take time to recover from it. This caused my old PbP Waterdeep campaign to fall apart. However, an upside came out of this. With so much time spent recovering, I had a lot of time to finish working on Eradon, a homebrew campaign setting which i’ve dreamed up ever since my first session of D&D.
And now, I want to share Eradon with the community. And what better way than by another PbP campaign? This will carry my DMing style of telling a epic story that (hopefully) the players will want to immerse themselves in, and help tell. To help with this, I may discuss with players ways to connect character’s backstories to the people, places, and events of the realm.
The campaign will start at 1st level, with all character options in published source material available. Additionally, many races and classes have non-playtested homebrew options in Eradon, which can be chosen by the players. As usual in my PbP campaigns, I would like that character sheets be viewable by me, so they should be online, such as on D&D Beyond.
As well, this thread will have the secondary purpose of serving as a discussion thread for players, and a lore thread about the world.
Lore Dump 1: The Creation of Eradon, the Dawn War, and The First Age
In the beginning, there was only The First Plane. This plane had no form, no substance, and no will whatsoever. One day, however, the primordials appeared on The First Plane. These elementals of massive power took the stuff of the First Plane, and out of it, created the world of Eradon. However, it was not them who would create the civilized races of the realm. That would fall to the deities, another group of entities recently emerged from The First Plane.
The deities created something the primordials did not want: life. This enraged the primordials, causing them to ignite a war with the deities, now known as the Dawn War. At the end of this war, the deities were victorious, splitting The First Plane into three: the Astral Sea, home of the deities, the Elemental Chaos, home of the imprisoned primordials, and the Material Plane, home of the mortal races. And so the First Age drew to a close.
I would like to join, but I am very busy from now until about the 27th. I have a character that I would like to play already though, I could put that up this week. After that I will have more time, but I dont know if thats too late. When were you thinking of starting play?
I was thinking starting play anytime really that people are ready. One thing that I notice is that in PbP, it usually takes a long time for even one round of combat, so players not being there shouldn’t be a big deal.
Henri is a half-elf rogue who grew up in the streets around the warehousing district in Waterdeep (or any big city). His human mother was a laundress who developed consumption during the winter of his eighth year. By age 12, Henri was living in the streets and not only surviving, but thriving. Despite the poor conditions, Henri’s dazzling smile, flamboyant persona, and generous heart earned him the love of the paupers and lower class workingmen occupying the district. But it was his ability to disappear into the shadows and wield a dagger that earned his gold and bread. Taking on dirty jobs that his employers didn’t have the fortitude to see through helped him sharpen his skills with the blade. His skills drew the attention of thieves guild and he received an invitation to apply for membership. However, the half-elf rebuked the organization accusing it of being as self-serving and corrupt a government as the official one “for the rich”.
In the ally, Henri leans his tall, lithe frame against the stone wall of a garment shop between stacks of refuse from unpacking a recent shipment. His choppy white-blonde hair is hidden by the deep brim of a hat, and he wears a fashionably asymmetrical coat over dark leather armor. A rapier is strapped by a beautiful leather baldric to his right hip. A light rain begins to fall just as his quarry arrives: a simple horse drawn carriage. He watches as his childhood sweetheart, Penelope , emerges from the carriage. She wears a beautiful full dress, intricate shawl, and Henri can’t help but note the twinkle of gold at her ears. She also grew up fighting for her dinner and peace on the streets. But now as the mistress of a wealthy perfume merchant, Penny has made her own way.
Color me interested! Been wanting to play D&D for a good while after a hiatus.
If I can get in, I'd like to play Melindy Myrtlesong. She's a Lightfoot Halfling Hexblade Warlock and a former thief. She carries around a beautiful Halfling-appropriate longsword. Her full backstory is in the sheet. It'd be my first time playing as her.
Also, hurray for recovering from surgery! That's always good to hear about!
EDIT: Sheet not working. Stand-by...
EDIT #2: ... The link is ddb.ac/characters/9034403/eO2tbx
Just copy-and-paste, I guess ^^; The link I put in is right, but when I save the post, it changes.
The big one is elf subraces, with there being no high elves, but instead sun elves, moon elves, and dragon elves. Additionally, golaithes get new subraces based off of giant types, and pretty much every class get a setting-exclusive subclass.
I would like to join in but i would like to get details on the character options/classes available exclusively for Eradon. I like to make characters as immersed in the world as possible.
Wow! There’s a lot of people wanting to join, or who’re at least interested, so I may split this into two groups. Also, i’m slowly putting the homebrew on DDB, if you want to check it out.
I'll post a character soon, I'm leaning towards a tinkering gnome rogue, even though it isn't optimized, it's still fun. However, I'm probably going to wait for the homebrew stuff to be published before I create a character.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Put your spoiler here.I was born to a farming family, and spent my early childhood tending to fields and cattle. I was spotted by a knight one day, and she told me that I possessed the qualities to become a good knight, if I joined the training and worked hard. Her name was Arveene Starag. I said yes without thinking twice, and joined a group of children who were also trainging to be knights. I worked hard and the day I turned 13 Arveene Starag, who had first told me that I could become a knight and who I had looked up to from the time I knew her took me on as her squire. Under her guidance, I learned quickly. A few of the squires who I trained with never liked me, they were of noble birth and thought they were better than everyone else. They often went around taunting and bullying people. One day they were bullying a trainee knight mutch younger than them and tried to stop them. I decided to teach them a lesson and challanged one of them, Gilassian, to a duel. It was a hard fight, and he was stronger than I, but when I was near defeat I remembered the oath I had sworn and the promise I had made, and with the surge of strength that accompanied that I managed to beat him, and drew first blood. That angered him immensely, and in the following weeks, him and his cronies plotted my undoing. The night before I turned 16, when I would take my final oath and become a knight in full, they executed their plot to get me thrown out of the order. They started a fire in the (king/queen/barons) hall and framed me for it. The () listned to them, and believed I was responsible and as punishment, exiled me from my home, and revoked my ties to the knights of () . My master (Arveene) knew I was not responsible though. That very night I was made to flee; she met me on the road, and said that though I was expelled and exiled, I could still take an oath and become a knight in my own name. I took that oath, with none but her and the night sky for witness, and set forth from there to uphold it in far lands where I was still welcome. I have been exiled for a year now, wandering far and wide. My master and I agreed that when the time was right for me to come back and prove that I was innocent, and to prove the treachery of Gilassian and his friends, she would send word and I would return.
I will be away for 10 days from tomorrow, and I dont know how much I will be able to post if any. If I get in, EdgeBoyLigma, if you want you can take over my character if I cannot post. After the ten days I will be able to post at least once a day though. I would love to integrate my backstory into your world as much as possible, just message me if you want to make any changes. I also might make a few changes after I see the homebrew and/or lore if thats ok.

Just a nerdy dude.
Could you give us some examples of the non-playtested homebrew race/class options in Eradon?

Same. I’m interested in this game and I’d love to hear about your home brew, probably willing to test one for ya!

I’m very curious about dragon elves and if you made any Dragonborn sub races. Idk I’m a sucker for cool animal/human things

Rolling for stats:
Ability scores: 13 7 11 10 15 15
edit. probably going to go for standard array, these stats seem too high for a lvl 1 character.
