This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I am going to run a series of adventures retooled from other sources for 5e into Forgotten Realms using the DnDBeyond forum.
Characters
Characters will start at level 1, with the assumption they have met elsewhere and decided on adventuring in the hinterlands.
Characters should be Players Handbook based using point-buy or standard array.
Characters should not be chaotic or evilly aligned.
Please provide the following in a PM:
Name:
Race:
Class(es): If you intend to go multi-class, please let me know what your other(s) will be.
SubClass(es): Let me know what your sub-class / specialization will be
Background Summary: Just enough to support your background, and your Class(es) and SubClass(es).
There will be time afterwards selection to flush things out.
Roleplaying
If I or the party feel that a certain scenario is taking too long, I reserve the right to summarize it. It shouldn't take a (real world) week to chat up the bartender.
Expectations:
We all have real world lives, but you can expect me to post at least one-per-weekday in the early EST morning, and usually the same on weekends. I will at least post if there will be some delay (Wife is dragging me off to ___, can't post today). Please give me and your fellow party members the same curtesy.
Combat
A the beginning of each round I will sketch up the situation. If you are comfortable giving multiple options after Initiative is rolled, it will help move things along. Example:
Blip the Mage is 3rd, but posts after initiative.
If the furthest goblin is inside the range of my spell, and no party members are in the blast radius, then I will cast Ice Knife
If you prefer to wait until your turn because you want to see the situation or you want to roll all the damage, that’s fine, just don't take too long or I will roll for you.
I won't show you my rolls, only the results (see Guiding DM Principles below)
Skill Rolls
Roll away as much as you want, if they aren't warranted, then I'll ignore him.
I'll roll/award for passive skills depending on the situation.
(if the Bard is tuning his lute and the fighter is sharpening his sword while walking along, the aren't likely to notice the trip wire, no matter what the roll!)
Always present me with 2 skill roles, and I will determine dis/advantage.
Characters will only be able to use a skill once, so don't blow it.
For Example
Blip says, "I will examine the room", and rolls a 2 investigation. If there is anything in the room, he just misses it. However, if he says "I will investigate the pile of rocks in the NW corner", and rolls a 2. I will allow him further rolls if he later says, "I will investigate each item on the table along the east wall." In fact, I may ask him to make multiple rolls for items on the table.
Absences
If you are planning to be absent for some time (going on a cruise, work is killing you), then please let me and the party know. You may designate another player or me to act in your stead.
Guiding DM Principles
"Always give a monster an even break" (While, I am not out to kill your character, I won't coddle them from their own mistakes)
This should be a fun experience for the players and the DM
Move the adventure forward to a conclusion
I reserve the right to make more rules as needed to smooth out gameplay
Haven’t played by post before but this sounds interesting so I’ll give it a go!
Name: Vylanys
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Ranger
Subclass: Oakleaf
Background: Haunted One (Religion, Arcana)
Found on the streets of Waterdeep and raised by a famous hunter, Vylanys lived his developing years as a nomad in the wilderness. When his mentor, Taluka was brutally murdered, Vylanys vowed to seek out his killer. He has travelled the world since, chased by his regrets and a voice deep within.
