It is a dark time in the galaxy. The sinister Galactic Empire has spread from the Deep Core to the Outer Rim, and everywhere the Empire’s tyranny can be felt.
Fleeing from the oppression of the Emperor’s minions, agents of Senator Bail Organa have run to a remote space station above Brentaal. Known to be a vocal opponent of the Empire, Organa may be the last hope of liberty in the galaxy.
In the hopes of stopping these dissidents before they can reach the Senator, the Empire has alerted its forces on Sel Zonn Station, where the struggle for the future of the galaxy rages on, and the first sparks of rebellion have begun to burn. . . .
Welcome to Dawn of Defiance, a Star Wars campaign detailing a classic story of heroes rising against the galactic empire. It will be run using the Star Wars 5e Conversion, a wonderful tool for star wars and dnd fans alike, with a lot of work put into it. I am looking for 4-6 players, who are capable of posting once at least every 3 days.
Your characters backstories are almost completely up to you, but here are some things to consider
- The devastatingly huge clone wars ended 2 years ago, and effected everyone in the galaxy. How specifically did they impact your character?
- With them also ended the Jedi order, perhaps your character had a Jedi friend, or possibly felt that they were indeed criminals, as they had been branded. Regardless, they are rare, and have started to become that of urban legend.
- The empire is ruling the galaxy with an iron fist. In some way shape or form, it has effected you within the last two years. Have they had a significant impact on your characters way of life? Or perhaps did they simply serve as backdrop to it, being no more important to your character as the republic was before the empire.
- Sparks may exist, but there is far from a proper rebellion. Most haven't even heard of rebellious acts since the declaration of the empire, and even less have seen a rebel cell in action. How might your character view the rebels, if they know of them at all?
Some light restrictions on characters
- Limited number of former Jedi, if any. Having any Jedi at all is going to attract unnecessary attention from the dark forces in the galaxy, and will most likely make this adventure much harder, at least in the beginning. Jedi trained beyond the level of Padawan are not allowed, though there is no restriction on force users without Jedi training, or those who are force sensitive and haven't realized so.
- Sadly, I will not allow characters to start with a ship of their own. As the adventure is starting at 1st level, having a personal ship as starting equipment would both not be fair to other players and unbalance the campaign.
- Dark side force users are not allowed, period, as are crossover characters of any sort.

Name: Lan Rook Species: Human Class: Operative Background: Mandalorian Pirate
Backstory:
Like how many stories of a child of Mandalore start, Lan was a foundling. She was born on Nevarro, and lived her first eight years as a scavenger, selling scraps for food and shelter. She had little memories of her parents, but she bared cared - her mind was on the skies beyond and away, she dreamed of her future when she saved enough to buy her freedom and she will not be tied down anymore.
Sometimes she would see a group of Mandalorians doing business with the guild, with their armors and helmets and blasters. She knew to keep her head down and stay away, but the Separatists had been tightening their grip on Nevarro, more and more often conflicts erupted, and Lan feared a full-on invasion won’t be far behind. If she was going to make it out of here, the cargo that the Mandolarians were transporting - refined coaxium - was going to be her one-way ticket. If she could just get her hands on some…
It was almost too easy. Climbing hills and wading through swamps years after years while carrying metal scraps, her steps were quick and light; and all the free time she spent assembling and repairing parts allowed her to pick the lock with barely any trouble. She was close, but then she felt a blaster held against the back of her head. Her heart shuddered and she slowly turned around, a man in Mandolarian armor - who she later knew as Tayari Rook - was looking down at her through the T-shaped visors amusedly, and he said from behind the helmet, We could use you.
So she went. She took on the Clan name Rook, and the men treated her fairly. She received her own armor, learned everything she could, infiltrating, piloting, cracking codes, installing and dismantling explosives. She was eager and quick to learn. But soon, she also learned the truth of Clan Rook. Their leader, Tayari Rook, was a self-proclaimed Mandolorian, but it was never substantiated. Their clan was composed of a group of pirates and slavers, using the name and reputation of Mandalore for their criminal business. Lan wasn’t sure if she cared, really. She liked her life, thrilling, exciting, and she did not want to look back.
Eventually the Clone Wars ended, and the Galactic Empire rose to power. In order to gain a favor from the Empire, Tayari Rook took a job to help capture and execute a true Mandalorian clan, Clan Spar. The sole survivor of Clan Spar, Akaavi Spar learned the involvement of Tayari Rook in the death of her people, and to seek revenge, she tracked down Clan Rook that were camping on Nul Hutta. She killed Tayari Rook, and many other of Clan Rook who didn’t run fast enough.
Lan managed to take off and run. She hitched a ship to the other side of the galaxy, sold her armor, and used the money to hitch across the galaxy again. Without her people, she felt alone. But again, did she really belong anywhere? She was never a Mandalorian anyway. The Republic, or the Empire, was the same to her. Guess she’ll just have to keep making her way, like she has always done.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Name: Astrid Kinro
Species: Echani
Ability scores: 91113121111
Class: Guardian
Background: Jedi
Backstory:
Astrid's life as she new it ended on one balmy evening in 19 BBY, in the slums of Coruscant. She had spent her childhood sheltered within the Jedi Temple, honing her skills, both those of a jedi and of her Echani heritage. A young padawan, she had been presented with her final trial, or so she thought, quite unlike that of any of her peers. Her master, cut down by the firepower of the 501st as she obeyed his final command to run; resisting the temptation to help as she hears the screams of younglings cut short; scampering through maintenance corridors like a startled animal. She ran until her feet ached, heading ever downwards into the slums of Coruscant, until the sky was no longer visible. There she hid, begging and doing her best to survive in a world she never previously knew existed, until she was contacted by the Whiplash resistance movement. They gave her new clothes and a few credits, then smuggled her off-world to start a new life.
I’m rolling a character for this right now. Here’s the stat rolls (hopefully, I’m still figuring this roll thing out):
Name: Konnor Galehart
Species: Human
Ability Scores:
10
16
10
16
15
13
Class: Fighter (Tactical Specialist)
Background: Faction Trader
Backstory: Far from civilization and far from the rigid politics and strict rules and regulations of the Republic and the Empire lies the planet Dantooine. Konnor was born and raised there prior to the Clone Wars. A scarcely populated planet of mostly farmers on the Outer Rim is where Konnor learned the value of hard work, community, and; most of all, the value of freedom.
At sixteen, Konnor started work on a trade ship along the Veragi Trade Route. This is where Konnor really found himself. He found that he loved the freedom of space travel and the adventure of trade and travel on the Outer Rim.
When he turned nineteen, Konnor was approached by the Captain of the trade ship Seven Suns, Bannon McHaggard. Bannon offered Konnor a job aboard his ship and an opportunity to see new sights and have new adventures. Konnor jumped at the opportunity. The Seven Suns was still a trade ship and they did (mostly) legal work transporting goods from one locale to the next. They would take up more questionable work when times were tough and their coinpurse was light. This is where Konnor learned to fight and learned about battle tactics (a natural talent of his as it was.) Konnor stayed aboard the Seven Suns for five years like that.
When the Clone Wars started, Bannon and his crew took what trade work they could get and didn’t much mind for which side it came from. As time went on, they tended to favor jobs from the Republic because they were generally easier to deal with.
The Clone wars ended three years later and Konnor immediately could tell the difference. His beloved freedom began to shrink away as the Empire’s influence spread. With every new checkpoint, Konnor became more angry with the current government in the galaxy. With each new law, he became more disgruntled. And with every grey imperial uniform he saw, the more rebellion sparked in his heart. As the control of the Empire grew, so too did its iron grip on freedom; until Konnor could not stand it anymore.
After a quick explanation to Bannon, Konnor left the Seven Suns with the promise of returning after he had won the Outer Rim’s freedom back. They traveled back to Dantooine and Konnor left the ship. Now he stands ready to make a difference, ready to get his freedom back, ready to fight.
Backstory: Kita was born and raised in the underworld of Coruscant. His parents were doctors, and he was raised to be the same. His parents are long since deceased, but he did his best to carry out their philosophy (to provide aid to all as best as he can). He usually tends to people injured in gang fights and the like, but one day, there was a Twi'lek dressed in jedi's garb that stumbled into his practice. He could tell from a glance that she had been shot with a blaster multiple times, but he was apprehensive, after all the jedi had a far more sophisticated medical facility in their temple so it didn't make sense for one to have come all that way to find him. He offered aid nonetheless, but while he was working the Twi'lek told him what had happened; the jedi temple had been compromised, the clones had turned on the jedi, and she had no idea what the scale of this treachery was. She did know one thing however, it had completely encompassed Coruscant, and from the center of the Republic's power it would only spread faster. She told him she needed to get off the planet, and that he should do the same. During the procedure, Kita glimpsed many clones through a window, searching. The jedi hadn't done much for him, but he wanted to help, and the clones would be there soon. He hastily packed what he needed and hurried out the back door with the Twi'lek. They went to a hangar run by some people who owed him a favor for medical services he'd provided, and he said he needed a ship. They gave him one and they (he and the Twi'lek) quickly got everything on board and took off. They flew for some time before they felt they were at a safe distance, when she filled Kita in on everything (including that her name was Otaeyi). With this information Kita began to see the bigger picture of what was happening in the universe, but he knew he couldn't fix it all, so he took Otaeyi to a nearby planet where they parted ways. She needed to be undercover for longer than he did and he wanted to start helping as soon as possible. She kept the ship but gave him a blaster and helped him get to a place where there were people that didn't have the medicines they needed. He knew he couldn't help everyone, but if he could just help these people that would be a start. He continued life this way, being known as Kita (and not by his full name) as he went from planet to planet helping who he could, but he knew there was the possibility of helping more than that; he just needed to figure out how.
As as young girl Zayreva lived a simple life with her parents on a colony world in the outer rim. Around the age of six Zayreva's family left the colony to take up work within the Corporate Alliance. During travel through the Quelli sector the ship Zayreva was on was attacked by pirates, Zayreva was one of only a few that made it out of the attack alive, neither of her parents had made it. The escape pod Zayreva's mother was able to get her into ended up crash landing on the planet Dathomir, it was here that Zayreva's fate changed.
A day after crash landing Zayreva was found by a Dathomirian Nightsister by the name of Pemaryyi. Pemaryyi was a hunter within the Nightsisters, and do to an injury she had taken during her rite was unable to bare any children of her own. Seeing the meeting as fate Pemaryyi took Zayreva under her wing adopting the lost Miraluka as her own child and with permission from the clan leader began training Zayreva in the ways of the Nightsisters but she was bared from teaching Zayreva the ways of magick.
As the years went on Zayreva excelled at her training especially in the use of the energy bow. During the time of the Clone Wars Zayvera was one of many of the hunters Mother Talzin sent of various mission around the galaxy. Zayvera was out on one such mission during the Massacre of the Nightsisters, leaving her as one of the few survivors. Vowing to one day take revenge on those that took her second family from her, Zayvera began taking any mercenary jobs she could find, using them to train herself and sharpen her skills eventually finding her way to Nar Shaddaa where she currently resides.
I’m going to resubmit. I edited my post to add information to the work in progress and it kept changing my dice rolls, which changed my character ideas, which would change what I wrote and was a never ending cycle. I’ve never had an issue before so long as I kept my dice rolls at the top. So that’s how I’ll be submitting on your application, just for consistent rolls.
Name: Tin Kudi
Species: human
Ability Scores: (4d6 drop lowest)
Class: Fighter
Background: soldier
Backstory: (do not include reasoning for going to Sel Zonn Station. I will work with those accepted to figure that out)
Tin Kudi fought as part of a militia against the separatist droid army. And when victory came, it did not bring peace, and order. It brought the chains of tyranny. The militia was disbanded, ordered to disarm. Their voice no longer heard in the senate, like so many others. That’s never sat well with Tin, but after the Troopers came and set up their garrison, and martial law was put in place, he knew he couldn’t stomach any more of the hypocrisy.
(I haven’t come across this rules adaptation before, so regardless of how my submission goes, thank you for introducing me to it!)
Ability scores: 1491591413
Name: Shang Tzurille
Species: Nautolan
Class: Consular
Background: Gambler
Backstory: Something of an amateur gambler when younger, Shang has always been lucky - whether cards / dice / stones just coming right, or flashes of knowing when someone has something - even beyond the usual intuition of his fellow Nautolan's. Vivid dreams of battle preceded the Clone Wars battles above Glee Anselm, which is when he started to suspect he was a Force Sensitive. These visions, and other events, continued to acrue, despite his best efforts to suppress them (except for those benefitting his games of course), but the stunning end of the Clone Wars, and the loss of the Jedi Order, made him realise - finally - that he needed to leave home to protect his family lest hebe discovered by the Sith. Spending much of his savings to buy passage off-world, he skipped out without warning, figuring this would be safer for those he left behind - parents, siblings and Syrissa - the young woman who he had been arranged to marry.
In the two years since he's kept moving, keeping himself funding thrugh gambling, but trying to keep his wins modest and only frequent enough to ensure he has enough saved for a 'drought fund' and to keep him moving in search of he's not sure what...
I have made my decisions, and those who have been selected for the campaign have been notified. Thanks to all of the applicants, and if we ever lose a player or something I'll be sure to reopen this thread.

Ability scores: 14 9 15 9 14 13
