Summary of the backstory: Rawley is a simple man. He was the 6th child and the 4th son of a farmer family. As such he was not entitled to anything, was put to work and later conscripted into the army. It fit him well though - both the physical and the mental part. He became really good at recalling things (mostly orders) he had seen or heard recently. What didn't fit him well was the actual battle. Long story short - he was marked a deserter and kicked out to find his own way in the world. He is not good at finding a way though and ended up a mercenary in many places, most recently in a town called Phandalin.
Comment: oh man how perfect this is! I played another character in LMoP who died at level 2, so Rawley was the replacement character I created and continued to play. He was one of the random thugs from the rundown tap house in Phandalin! And he never "lived" through level 1, so this is rather incredible.
Farkur Boondiggles is a gnome, has been a gnome, and always will be a gnome. Gnomes, especially those from his village in the Kryptgarden Forest, are known for being tinkers — have been and always will be. Farkur doesn't dislike being a tinker, per se, but it isn't his passion. Farkur's passion is nature. He loves growing plants and tending to animals. He always has ... and he suspects he always will. From before he can remember, he has been drawn to nature. For all of his years studying to be a tinker, Farkur has also spent bits of time here and there learning more about nature. Besides being looked at strangely for his love of nature, Farkur is also known as being gôg, which means clumsy. Farkur has broken many a construct by accidentally dropping it or stepping on it or knocking it off a worktable. It's gotten so that no other tinker wants Farkur anywhere near their constructs for fear he will break them.
A few weeks ago, Farkur's father and mentor sat down with him and told him in a very loving way that he thought Farkur might be happier living somewhere else. Farkur is 74 and plenty old enough to live on his own. He, while a bit disappointed to be pushed out the door, decided to see this as the beginning of a new chapter in his life — the chapter that introduces adventure. Farkur set out northwest through the Sword Mountains with the idea of ending up in Neverwinter, and has very recently found himself in the ruins of Phandalin.
Saphia is half elf ranger who grew up in a small village in the woods. She grew up hunting and fishing with her 3 other siblings and loves the outdoors. Once she became old enough to move out on her own, she thought of adventuring the world, but was always held back by the thought of leaving her family, her home. When her father died, her mother told her to go explore while she was still young. Now she travels in search of people she can help and new experiences to encounter. She is about 5'9" and has long brown hair. Her personality is almost always sunshine and rainbows. She may even seem dim witted to those who first meet her, but she just has a pure soul and a love for any companions she meets on her journeys. She may seem almost careless sometimes due to her fascination with new experiences. The only thing that will set her into a rage is if you harm to balance of the untouched wilderness.
Chazrael Teadrinker (halfling ranger) was destined to hunt monsters at a young age.
Years before he was born, his grandparents, Kara and Carlton Teadrinker, were a part of a monster hunting company with Marquis Archibold. During a mission where they hunted a vampire lord, Marquis killed the monster and absorbed his essence, becoming a vampire himself. His first victim was Carlton. Kara cursed Marquis and vowed that her family would forever hunt the evils of the world, not for revenge, but to make sure innocent people would not suffer like she did. She spent her life researching and hunting monsters of all kinds, which was not easy as she had to raise her son Lucien, Chazrael’s father. Kara and Lucien lived in Teadrinker Manor, outside of a halfling hamlet. While many of the townsfolk regarded her with suspicion, monster hunters and rangers respected Kara and would often stay at the manor. Even today, the structure houses some of the oldest knowledge of vampires, werewolves and demons. Kara taught Lucien the basics of monster hunting and self-defense though understood that he was not a hunter like her. Lucien went on to become a successful merchant, get married and raise a family, all of which Kara was proud of. Chazrael was different from his father. He idolized his grandmother and became interested in hunting creatures of the night. Kara taught her grandson everything she had taught Lucien and then more. At a young age, Chazrael learned how to fire a longbow and the skills to be a ranger. Lucien did not dissuade his son, yet warned him about the dangers of monster hunting and encouraged him to take a rest to recharge himself.
