It was considered a miracle when Captain Kamusk Ganadash returned from his voyage. After all, it had been nearly 3 years since his departure. Those who remembered Captain Ganadash and his large merchant vessel, The Glorious Dove, gasped at his sight. He and his entire crew had survived after being washed aground in a strange and unknown land full of untapped resources and precious stones. They had lived off of what little rations they could salvage and a small supply of indigenous fruits. He happily shared his harrowing tale with anyone who would listen, and it spread like a fever through every nation. Before long Ganadash had sold his crudely drawn map to every count, duke, king, and queen rich enough to pay for it. And, with that, the hunt was afoot.
The Eastern Seas are in a state of constant turmoil, ships are routinely blown off course, or swallowed up entirely by it. This delayed the progress of the 5 Nations, but eventually they found an acceptable route. The lust for land and greed for resources cannot be stopped.
You find yourself in a small colony. You joined up for the first ship out of Udros and have been hard at work since you landed. In the week since your arrival, you and the rest of the crew have raised a crude wooden wall, a food storage shed, and a just enough wood and mud hovels to support the population. A mill and a quarry are in the process of being built. It is not a comfortable life, but it is full of promise.
The distinct rhythm of the morning drum shatter your dreams and jolt you awake. The fog is still lingering on the ground, hiding the mysterious land around you. As you assemble in the center of the colony a man steps up onto a wooden crate and begins to give orders. This man familiar:
He is the Captain of the expedition: Zun Mountainsoar. He is a merchant by trade but spent time as an explorer, cartographer, inventor, and militiaman during his youth. The men love him, the women trust him, and the children adoringly listen to his tales around the campfire. He was the obvious choice to lead Udros' maiden voyage into the New Land. He begins pointing to people in the crowd and giving orders, "You two, we need to begin tilling the soil to plant crops. If you can succeed, you may claim the land in the name of your family. You there, We need to hoist the flag. We have just enough wood left for a flag pole. We must proudly display the flag of Udros, and below it, the flag of New Udros." He assigns jobs until you stand with three others. "You, I have a special task for you four. We have a quarry and a mill under construction now, however, we are nearly out of resources. I need you to bring back as much limestone as you can carry. These walls are fine for now, but I would like to make them as sturdy as possible. We haven't seen any hostiles yet, but I know they are out there..." He hands one of you a Bag of Holding and each of you a pickax. "If my suspicions are correct, those rocky hills to the Northeast are full of limestone. Stay alive, we need all the help we can get out here..."
“I will accomplish this task for you my good sir, so you can count on me”
The paladin them tells the group “Hello fellow adventureres! Are you ready to do what we were asked to do? Also my name is Therrek, what are yours?”

Are we ever sure that we exist? Do we have feelings? Or are we just NPC's designed to think highly? If so what is our purpose? Why are we here? Who are the players? Or are there Players?
A wood elf steps up wearing chainmail and holding a mace, with a holy symbol of Kelemvor around his neck. "I am Elwin. I am your best hope at not dying"He walks over to Zun and takes a pickaxe and the bag of holding.
She takes the pick-axe offered to her and eyes the bag of holding that Elwin took.
"Marilena." She says by way of introduction. "Shall we get this over with." In contrast with the boisterous paladin she sounds rather dry and unenthusiastic, but not unwilling. Also in contrast to the other two she wears no holy symbol or signs of religion at all, though she does have a dark crimson colored crystal hanging from a leather necklace. She starts off toward the norhteastern hills expecting the others to follow.
"All will become equal now" | "Cause we're going to shout it loud, even if our words seem meaningless. It's like we're carrying the weight of the world"
A human steps forwards, deep in thought, and takes his pick-axe quietly. He turns to the others before nodding, “Greetings, my name is Emyrow. Pleased to meet you.”
As you begin to walk away you see a worried look crawl across Zun's face. You nearly make it to the gate before you hear his feet running up behind you and his nervous voice calling out, "Hey, hey, wait..." He catches up to you and steps in close. His voice lowers to a half-whisper, "Keep an eye out anything out of the ordinary. The captain of a merchant ship that makes rounds throughout the coast told me that a settlement of Vrellis was wiped out. One month they were there, the next month gone. He said strange markings were carved into the buildings and the same symbol was found carved into the half decayed bodies of the settlers." He pulls a rolled up piece of dirty parchment from his coat and holds it out to you. It is a rough drawing of an unfamiliar symbol.
Another settler begins to approach you and Zun quickly tucks the parchment away and wishes you luck.
Marilena stops and looks over the parchment noting the symbol. Now this is suddenly a lot more interesting. Maybe the fact that a settlement was destroyed shouldn't send a spark of thrill through her, but it certainly made mining limestone a tiny bit more exciting.
"I'll be sure to keep my eyes open." she assures Zun, with more meaning than he's probably heard from her so far.

"I understand, I'll make sure to keep a look out for anything out of the ordinary." A grin flashes across Emyrow's face as he processes this new information, before quickly disappearing under Zun's grave expression.
The blonde turns to walk backwards looking at the cleric. "What do you think the symbol means? An indigenous people, maybe? Or maybe something more sinister." She waggles her fingers in the the air in a 'spooky magic' sort of gesture.

"I can cope with either. As long as it can be seen." He starts to walk away again "Are you guys coming? The sooner we start the sooner we get the defences against this thing up." As he walks away, Elwin starts thinking about the symbol to see if he recognises it or something similar. 15
(For some reason it is bold text even when I make it not bold and it says it isn't)
You search the depths of your mind and know for certain that the symbol is not any type of religious iconography that is known to the world. It also doesn't look like any language you know of. You think that maybe it could be an emblem of sorts.

You can make a survival check to find your way to the limestone hills, I will take the highest roll. You've got a pretty decent idea of their location, but this is still an uncharted land.
"All will become equal now" | "Cause we're going to shout it loud, even if our words seem meaningless. It's like we're carrying the weight of the world"
You make your way toward the hills that Zun told you about. Along the way your senses are ablaze. This is a brand new world, and though it is uncharted, and unknown, you feel a sort of familiarity with it. The birds here sing like the ones back home, but they sing a little lower. The deer here run the same way they do back home, but their antlers are a little bigger. Beetles scurry along the across the trail in a way you've seen a thousand times before, but these beetles are colorful and large. You march along, making small talk at times, trying to enjoy the landscape despite the pang of anxiety in the back of your mind: could there really be something sinister here? Zun's words echo in your mind, making the landscape difficult to focus on.
You arrive at about midday. The sun is warm, but not hot. The grass covered hills gleam with a sort of pure quality. The stone reflects the sun back at you slightly. You assume that you can set up your gear and have a pretty productive day of mining, though you might have to camp out, or risk traveling through an unknown land at night. Zun's words still clanging around in your mind.
OOC: Go ahead and make a STR check to see how the mining goes. The rest is up to you!

"You know,"Marilena remarks, setting her pack down and staring up at the hills before her, so much higher now that she is right in front of it, "I've done a lot of odd jobs, but I don't think I've ever done some mining. Do you just, like, hit stuff?"
And with that she takes up her pick axe and slams it into the stone.

Elwin looks at Marilena and her attempt at mining. "That looks alright I guess. I'm used to a shovel and dirt myself. 6ft down and various lengths but at least graves are easy to dig"
Elwin starts to mine and every hour or so will pause to collect the stone in the bag of holding. Strength:11
"I dug a grave. Once. I had a pet rabbit as a kid, and it didn't survive the winter. Dad made help dig the grave by the woods. We had a whole funeral thing."
