What lies beyond the Trackless Sea in the world of Toril has always perplexed the citizens of Neverwinter. Rumors have it that great undiscovered continents with untold wealth lie there, but many dismiss them as fireside tales. As with many rumors and tales, a grain of truth is always present. The continent of Austrilis lies in this perilous sea with a great many countries. One such country is the Country of Comstalia. King Lacerca currently rules the country from the tallest mountain in the center of the country, Unus Mons, in the city Rexstalia. Four lords rule below him over the four major cities: Lord Nesteris rules the port city of Norstalia, Lord Eura rules the city of Eastalia, Lord Salari rules the city of Soutstalia and Lord Waxston rules the city of Westalia. And thus our story begins deep in the forests south of Westalia.
The green dragonborns of the Silvalta clan have lived in the deep forests south of Comstalia for fifty generations with a single task: “Protect the Emerald Heart.” The Emerald Heart is the only reason the clan exists. According to the elders of the clan, the Great Green Dragon Eleras came to this barren land with the Emerald Heart and his 5 children. With the power of the Emerald Heart, Eleras grew the entire forest of Silvalta. This forest eventually spilled out into the surrounding lands and caused life to flourish. After many years, the Great Green Dragon Eleras passed away and his skull became the foundation for the Vale of Silvalta.
Over the years the lush vegetation has overtaken his bones, and only his skull remains with trees growing through the gaps in the skull. The children of Eleras were tasked with protecting the heart and the forest, and thus hired and enslaved the humans to help them. Over the years, some of the dragons fell in love with the humans and became intimate. This lead to the birth of the green dragonborn and the Silvalta clan.
Over the generations, an order of paladins was created to be the last line of defense of the Emerald Heart. One spry upcoming paladin named Nelvik, has shown great promise in his abilities. Nelvik takes his duty to the Emerald Heart seriously, but more importantly, he considers his duty to life itself. Nelvik’s wife, Laurez, distinguishable by a single red scale on the right side of her cheek, has recently discovered she is pregnant. With gleam in his eyes, Nelvik awakes everyday looking to the prospects of being a great knight and protector of the vale, and soon, a father. This is where Nelvik finds himself. Another beautiful morning in his wooden house, in bed with his wife Laurez. As Nelvik rises from bed to ready himself for guarding the Emerald Heart he hears, Laurez mutter as in her sleep “Oh Nelvik, you know I love those roses.” The memory of their first date flushed into Nelvik’s head. Nelvik picking her favorite flower, purpura roses and taking her to the river that surrounds the vale. “Yes” he thought “She deserves some flowers today. Maybe I shall surprise her this evening.”
As you walk up to the temple, you are greeted by the Temple Captain Giles. "Ah Nelvik, good to see you today. Punctual as always. I expect the guard service to be as diligent as you always perform. Sigmund should be ready to trade out when you are prepared."
OOC: of course you get paid a bit, but since there is not a lot of trade in your isolated forest town, there is not too much to buy. you can always go to the market to see what they got.
Sigmund looks at Nelvik and says "Last night was the same as any night. Nobody came. Nobody went. Just the same occasional sounds from inside the chamber that holds the heart. I am sure you have heard them too." Nelvik pauses and remembers he does hear occasional "thump" sound, but he hadn't really thought about it until he mentioned it.
Captain Giles looks at you and says "Nelvik? What are you doing here? Is there a problem?" Nelvik begins to explain the sound coming from behind the door. Captain Giles cover his face with his palm and says "While you are one of our most skilled knights, I guess you never did pay attention to any of the stories as a kid. The Emerald Heart is the heart of the forest. It beats and allows the forest and life around us to bloom. See before the heart was brought here, this place was like the desert to the east. With the hear however, we have this amazing forest, rumored to be aided by Eldath herself. Now if you don't have an issue to report, please stand guard for the rest of the day."

Hey Giles, I was wondering if I could get a bonus for the hard work I've been doing?

After my exchange with Giles, I go back to my post feeling like a complete idiot. After my post is done I leave the City to go find my wifes favorite flower to suprise her and make her day.
Captain Giles looks at Nelvik and says "Yes, yes, let me clear the coffers for you and your 'hard work'. Now if you don't actually start working, you may not get paid at the end of this month!"
Nelvik heads back to his post and finishes his shift and heads east to the forest. He reaches the river that surrounds the island of the vale. He picks some the purpura roses. As he turns to head back to the forest he realizes he needs to climb back up the bank of the river. Please make a roll.

I kiss my wife on the red scale. I leave to the temple

Ooc: do I get paid for being a guard?
"Thank you, I'll be quick to getting that lump of Ash breath off MY post" *I do a bow motion or w/e is normal for dragonborn*
"Sigmund! How was last night's watch? *Nelvik glances at the ground* " Did you even patrol at all? Ha! Your foot endentations tell quite a story"

"Bunch of nonsense, have a good day Sigmund."
I do my watch but I want to speak loudly towards the chamber. "Is anyone there?"

Nelvik yells at the locked door "Is anyone there??"
He at first hears nothing at first but then he starts to hear a low, faint thud- thud, thud- thud. Almost rhythmic in sound.
Taken aback I leave my post. I leave my post to tell Captain Giles.
Captain Giles looks at you and says "Nelvik? What are you doing here? Is there a problem?" Nelvik begins to explain the sound coming from behind the door. As you climb up the bank and make it almost to the top, you slide down but are able to catch yourself and make it to the top of the bank.

As you get to the top of the bank, you see a Jackal scrounging about in the bushes in front of you. It has not noticed you yet.
