I am looking for around 4 -5 players for a adventure. Standard array or point buy, Official, UA or potentially classes from third party supplements - There are some pretty interesting ones out there. Level 3 characters with standard equipment will be fine.
Your characters are recent recruits into the Order of Silence, an organisation that was founded and funded to contain the threat of extra planar, dark magic and intrigue. The Order has suffered loses, at great cost they have held back and kept secret many horrors. However 4 months ago the Order was attacked, the main HQ was utterly destroyed, outposts, offices, vaults turned into graves. You and your party only survived due to the actions of Hezin the broken, he managed to get you to a portal and safety. The party, Hezin and a few other survivors have managed to set up in an old and long abandoned mansion, tending to your wounds, gathering supplies and information.
If you would like to join in I will need the following:
Class: Barbarian (will be going Fighter/Echo Knight)
Backstory: Moxley was one of the better fighters of his tribe, though he did tend to lose his mind during his fights, he was always the last one standing during all his training. He thoroughly enjoyed combat and set out after his age of adulthood ceremony from the tribe to make a life for himself. On his travels he encountered a traveling merchant that took him under his wing, mainly due to the fact that no more brigands would attack the caravan seeing the monstrosity of a Bugbear at the head of the caravan defending it. In turn, the merchant taught Moxley how to cook and he took to the skill with glee, cooked food was so much better than the stuff he was used to eating. Also while traveling with the Merchant his wife who happened to be a fighter of her own right took him under her wing and taught him how to channel his rage into new ways of fighting, being able to be in two places at once and attack form the shadow was a boon that Moxley took to greedily. Between the two of them they were a force to be reckoned with.
Unfortunately after a few years the Merchant decided to retire with his wife and live out their lives in comfort. Moxley was once more on his own traveling the land until he finally came upon a village that he found interesting. Moxley became a well respected Tavern owner in this village though at first he was not trusted, he was a Bugbear after all, and his ferocious look did not help. He won the town over by way of his cooking, not to mention his almost single handily defeating a band of brigands that attacked the town one night. At which point the town welcomed him and his tavern became a hot spot of the village as they learned he could be trusted. It didn't hurt that bar fights rarely happened in his tavern as no one wanted to test his strength or be thrown out of his establishment by one so large. One afternoon as he was out gathering some supplies in the forest nearby he was on his way back and crested the top of a hill overlooking his town to see it engulfed in flames as a Dragon took interest in the town and was attacking it. There was no way this village could defend against a Dragon and most people were fleeing for safety and all Moxley could do was watch as the village was devastated by fire. Eventually the Dragon got bored and its belly was full that it flew off and Moxley stumbled down to the charred remains of this tavern to collect what he could vowing to one day seek vengeance onto the Dragon and left his ravaged village in search of it.
Which is now how he came to find a new home within The Order.
Tyrphanis was an odd soldier, mostly because he was a half elf serving with a Dwarvish company. He had none of the frail, or aloof qualities of an elf. He was part of the phalanx, the shield wall, the ever present immovability of dwarves. Being much taller made it awkward, but he was allowed no excuse.
When the call came for warriors from the Order of Silence, he answered. He swore oaths to the Order, to his old company, and to himself that he would stand against the darkness. The attack has left him shaken, and afraid... partly of the evils which sought his blood but more shaken still by his fear that he had failed to uphold his oaths. He still fights, but there’s an extra drive to prove himself now.
Backstory: Ollie's early life was spent in relative comfort, his father a minor lord in good standing. Then one day it all came crashing down when a wizard stormed through the castle gates, killing everyone in his path. The wizard continued his rampage until Ollie's uncle, a member of the Order of Silence, struck him down. Ollie, now an orphan, was taken in by his uncle as a squire on his travels, helping him as he journeyed around the countryside. His uncle helped train him in the ways of the forest and eventually Ollie learned the ways of his Uncle's god. He also grew into his large frame, standing taller than most men and using his intimidating size and impressive bow skill to strike fear into his opponents and earn a living hunting down dangerous creatures. After many years and much training his Uncle reached what he felt was then end of what he could teach and Ollie was taken to train as a member of the order.

Nephvir is an orphaned child of a feywild eladrin and a wood elf. He grew up near Silverymoon, adopted by a barkeep and his wife. When he was little his parents made him sing for his supper and clean the bar at night. When he was a young man he met Silar, a beautiful half elf who would play the harp. They eloped together and were married. When travelling south near Triboar a wandering band of rogues caught them and killed Silar. He carries memories of her murder with him. He hunts for her killers, a band who were said to have origins in Waterdeep. They were called the Red Brigade. He hopes to find out more information and eventually avenge her death. He has resorted to learning the way of thieves to make a living and to look out for rumors. His heart remains good even though the world has thus far not been kind to him...
Through his investigations (and through a mutual friend in the Harpers) he learned about the Order of Silence and their mission. He had been approached and was being recruited in the order, was in the main HQ for an interview when the attack occurred. In helping others of the Order to survive and escape he bonded with the Order and wishes to join their fight. He views Hezin as a friend and a new found mentor.
Name: Arseris Galanodel Race: Half-Elf Class: Rogue (Soulknife) Backstory: Raised by her elven mother, Arseris knew what it was like to be on the outside of any situation that involved her 'family'. Deep down, she knew she wasn't wanted by her mother or her father, who had abandoned her before she was even born. Her own natural talents could not go unnoticed though, a gift that seemed to have been forgotten in her own family line. With these talents rediscovered, Arseris finally had the much desired attention she had always wanted. They hired a skilled tutor to train her to be used as an assain and spy, and for the first time she though she might be able to do something useful in her life. Unfortunately, her family's interest in her was only how they would be able to use those talents for their own gain. So she finally mustered the courage to leave home, using her skills for deception and covertness to become a 'well-known' (as well as one who's job is to not be recognized) spy for hire. The Order of Silence though, well that was an offer she didn't feel the need to refuse.
Backstory: Azurre took his first life early on. Even though it was in self defense, it took its toll and changed the course of his life. Leaving his clan, he traveled, ashamed of the breath that could so easily end another’s life. After wandering to a chapel, he found tutelage and mentoring through priests and clerics. He realized that he could devote his life to healing and saving those around him. As a new recruit of the order, he begins a new chapter - getting to know the lives that he will soon be taking care of.

Dexan grew up in a small town. he had a normal childhood for 8 years. his father was a miller, and his mother died in childbirth. until he (and a mob of townsfolk) figured out that his father was not actually a miller, but a failed wizard who had recently turned to necromancy. when the townsfolk confronted him- in the middle of the initiation ritual- the monster his father had made a pact with lashed out. it killed everyone in the town. everyone but Dexan. unbeknownst to him, he was protected by the thing his father had sacrificed- his love. Backstory - Moir had been sent from her minorly important family within the regional hierarchy to learn from various mentors around the world, (harnessing her acrobatic prowess and the ability to control life force). When she returned her family didn't care for the macarbre nature of what she had learnt and forbade her from returning to their side. She travelled and worked to survive. She was dragged kicking and screaming into the The Order when she was implicated in a mystery they were investigating. She then refused to leave when that mystery was solved and she realised this is what she was destined to do and the world was something greater out there.
(I have my character on GSheets as don't have the DnDBeyond books)
Backstory: The legend of Brock "Giantson" Jotun-Venn began at an early age. When he was first discovered by a group of nomadic Goliaths they found him, nearly feral, pinning a beast twice his size with his bare-hands. Whether he escaped, was left behind or abandoned by his kin, the Goliaths saw him as a kindred spirit and took him in as one of his own. At first, especially because of his size, they treated him differently than they would other Goliath children but they quickly learned that wouldn't be necessary. Shockingly strong for a gnome along with a sharp mind typical of his race, Brock was not only able pull his weight within his adopted family but became a key member of the tribe as both a warrior and an advisor. One day when defending the tribe from a raid, Brock was pushed to the brink of defeat. Just before he was about to be struck down for good, Brock somehow grew... and grew... and grew until he towered over his opponents and quickly defeated him. Awed at the sight, his tribe bestowed upon him the name "Giantson" for they all agreed that only someone with Giant ancestry would be able to perform such a feat. Shortly after the incident, the tribe was approached by members of the Order of Silence who were looking to recruit a fearsome warrior that was rumored to be a member. When Brock was brought forward, the Order members quickly dismissed him before they were challenged, and promptly beaten, by the gnome. Realizing the rumors were true, the group pleaded with him to join their ranks and even offered to help him research his strange abilities as well. Seeing the offer as too good to pass-up, Brock decided to join them to learn all he could about his powers and as an opportunity to find opponents to test his newfound strength.

He found what was left of the town in the woods and stayed for a while but haunted by what happened to his family and himself he made a pack with a friend and became a warlock to hunt down the misters that did this to him and get revenge.

The young Galerius showed his talent during the war and was promoted.

The messenger was killed before he could get it to the Order, however, and his body was dumped into the astral plane.
