You and your companions are now slaves in Avram’s caravan, leaving at sunrise for Anoch on the North and only road leading there. You quickly learn that Avram, the caravan master, extracts whatever value he can from his property; as slaves, you’re put to work.
Under way, Avram’s caravan seems almost like a small town. A harnessed pair of mekillos pulls a giant walled wagon, while a trio of inix carries howdahs with guards. Most slaves are assigned to various tasks inside the wagon, while some are sent out on gathering patrols with the howdahs, and a few others simply walk in front of the gigantic mekillos. You are fed in the morning, given water during the high sun break, and fed again late in the evening when the rough hide blankets are handed out each night as poor shelter against the cold. The rest of the time, you work, sleep, or fight for the slave masters’ entertainment. Something they put in your food or water dampens your innate abilities. And they showed you what they did with to unruly slaves. The rests of that one still follows tied to a rope the caravan.
You have had time to get to know each other and since you are put every night in the same cage even come to see each others as allies.
(Give a brief description of your character please and what you might have told the others. Remember that this is Athas and trust is as rare as water but the need for survival makes for strange bedfellows.) )
Gralth is a dwarf, short only standing at 4'7", and bald from head to toe. He does not hide his hatred for wizards but even more so specifically defilers who destroy all life around them. Gralth also does not hide his love for the world, the earth, the plant life, and can sometimes be seen talking to what appears to be himself when crossing a plant or tree or some sort of earth's natural life. If the small chance ever arises that his path crosses with some sort of plant life he MIGHT be seen, definitely hiding it from the guards and slavers, muttering under his breath, speaking to spirits, as he calls them, and attempts to use whatever tiny bit of strength he still posses to imbue even just the slightest amount of life force into it (Druidcraft).
Urilar is a tawny-colored aarakocra. His plumage looks perfect for blending with the sandy dunes of the desert or the ruddy sky, if only he was out there. It’s been a trial to ‘convince’ him to stay as close to complacent as he has been, fighting to garner every opportunity he can to be outside, and constantly eying the sky to find a way to make a break for freedom. In the meantime, though, the restricted confines of the caravan and cages leave him abrupt and short-tempered in any conversation. It is only the need for allies for any escape plan to work that convinces him to talk to the others, determining their worth.
T'Chichka gave the slavemasters an unsettling feeling all the time. His unblinking, sleepless eyes stared at them whenever he wasn't engaged in some assigned task. The slavers learned quick to keep a pair of the Kreen's hands bound at all times and the other pair bound when not immediately needed. A similar sentiment was learned regarding his mandibles. The first slaver was unfortunate enough to try binding the Kreen from the front and was promptly bit on the arm. If he didn't recover from the poison, he would've likely died from exposure when the other abandoned him. Many argued killing the Kreen, but the slavemaster decided he was worth more as a pit fighter.

Thania is an elvish looking woman, with fine facial features, tanned skin, a lean but muscular body and pointed ears. However once you got to know her a little better you could start to see the hint of human heritage within her, such as her golden, red tinge hair and amber eyes. She is always eager to talk and learn everybody's tale, where they had come from, how they ended up here, those kinds of things. The only little piece of information that could really be gained from her however was that she came form Liban. On occasion, when the weather was bad or the task grueling, she would sing a song, often in elven, to encourage the other slaves. At first the caravan guards did not like it and whipped her when she would not stop but it caused such a ruckus from the other slaves that now they just let her sing.

Raenwen is also a dwarf. She too, is hairless from head to toe, but stands at 4'2". She is lean muscled, as a fighter should be, and her skin tanned a golden honey. Raenwen sports a lot of scars from her hours in the pit. Though, peculiar enough, there were smaller clusters of scars and whip marks focused on her hands. Slavemasters would often catch her scrounging or scavenging for the most curious of things, frequently confiscating items from her, resulting in her hand lashings. It never stopped her from stashing things in the most unexpected of places when she can. Often, she'd keep to herself, stock still, hiding her hands with her arms crossed, but as time went on, it was obvious she'd have to spend a lot of time with he others. Eventually Raen would respond with more than just grunts, and even get caught mouthing the words along to Thania's songs.
The life of a slave on the desert roads is one of toils and hardship. There are approximately 30 slaves in the caravan, divided into several groups. Like anywhere else on Athas, there are good jobs and there are bad jobs. You are likely get to experience them all.
Once away from civilization, Avram and the caravan master pay less individual attention to the slaves, trusting on the desert to discourage and prevent slaves from escaping. While troublesome slaves are punished with harder work assignments and fewer resources, cooperative slaves are correspondingly rewarded. Even the well-behaved slaves are given barely enough resources to make it from day to day, and no one receives enough to be able to build up reserves for an escape attempt.
Each day that they spend with Avram’s caravan, you will choose or be assigned one of the following tasks:
Tending to the wagons and preparing meals (light duty)
Taking part in the hunting and gathering patrols (medium duty)
Caring for the mekillos (hard duty)
Processing Shades' ore (hard duty).
The city of Shade has some of the richer mines that provide several types of ore. Each have to be processed a different way to be able to use. One such way is breaking the rock in many small pieces to reveal and separate the ore.
While working slaves are not normally bound or shackled, they are still guarded and watched. Duties can be assigned randomly or in response to behavior, troublesome slaves are given hard duty as punishment, while entertaining slaves are given light duty as a reward. You may want to shuffle through several work details over the course of the journey, in order to implement their escape plan.
Tell me your character would probably end up and why ? (Barlow I know why for yours ;-) )
Tell me also, what you are doing during those tasks.
As rotating work assignments come and go, rumors spread about voices in the desert and whispers in the night. One or two claim evil spirits tempting corruption and violence, others claim insanity. Most just assume it's hunger and dehydration.
(Telepathic messages, pick your mind-poison!)
Revolt! Revolt! Take up tools, break bonds, crush skulls!
See how masters eat? Take rock, then take food.
Bloody sand, bloody walls;
pick bloody cage, or bloody fall
Come down to mines. Places to hide, places to dissapear.

Urilar maneuvers hard to get the hunting and gathering work as frequently as possible, even when they don't let him fully stretch his wings. He'll even trade light duty shifts inside the wagon for others' outdoor shifts -- this garners him some favor from the earthbound races. Work fixing the exterior of the wagons he'll do almost eagerly, especially maintaining the roof structures, as it allows him height as well, and minimizes supervision. If he can't get those tasks, or when he's being especially belligerent, he's probably tasked with caring for the mekillos, as his strength makes him less useful for the ore-breaking. But no matter the task he is assigned, he drags as much of it outside as he can. And always he watches the slavers, learning their patterns and behavior, on the lookout for weaknesses.
The Avram has bought the rocks and he is using the slaves to break the stones to pieces in the mekillos pulled fortress.
After several days of rumors a group of half giant ( These are the three henchmen you will see at all time ) come to your pen and drags T'Chichka out beat him with clubs. A scrawny little man stands a bit farther in the back and has a wicked smile on his face as this enfolds.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Perception to spot the man: 8. Whoo! Got that super-buggy sense!)
If it were one-on-one, even with other slavers overlooking the beating, T'Chichka would've thought about fighting back. Considering the odds, he focused on letting blows glance off his chitinous hide and watching the little man.

Gralth has no fear of hardwork, though taking part in the hunting and gathering patrols allows him to go out further away from the fortress in search of any possible still existing natural life. He will do his best to get these patrols and while out just keep searching for even the smallest siting and tend to them if possible. Though if Gralth is unable to go out among patrols then he will try to tend to the mekillos for animals are an important part of the earth's natural life cycle.
(I don't know the odds of finding it out in the desert if its possible at all, but if on patrols Gralth searches the land for even the smallest siting of mistletoe.)
Like most dwarves, Raenwen does not dread hard work. In fact, she’d be eager to take on tasks to keep her busy, anything to feel more like a worker and less like a slave. How she loathed being a slave... if she isn’t kept busy, Raenwen’s anxieties and fears of being sold to a Mul breeding program would begin to haunt her. She hated being complacent, but she’d do anything to prove her worth beyond her assigned gender. She’d take her tasks without too much complaints, her true intentions to trade with others for what would best benefit both parties. Even though it was considered heavy duty, Raen would prioritize wanting to process Shades’ ore. She’d take a shift any time she could. Oh how she missed handling and crafting with materials from the earth. When she couldn’t get her hands dirty with ore, she’d settle for tending to the wagons and preparing meals. These tasks allowed her to tinker and continue practicing skills related her proficiencies... her focus never out of mind...
Thania is definitely one to try and tip the situation to her advantage and get the easier tasks to perform. Why not? They had plenty of strong, tough looking slaves that would be better off handling Mekillos or crushing ore than her. She was more of a sociable person and would use her charm to get shifts within the wagons and preparing food, though she would also ask to join the hunt where she could so that she could get out and stretch her legs.
While acting the obedient slave, Thania was being very busy. She will take note of who likes what foods, what food ingredients are available and if any of these could be used to make a poison. She would also use her position and charm to pry or overhear what she can about her captors, such as who likes or dislikes who, where they are going, anything like that. Thania also made sure that hunting was productive and aided her plans at escape. If she found anything that could be used to make a poison or something sharp like a tooth or claws that could be hidden, she would take it.

While out in the wasteland Gralth will forage as expected of him under the supervision of the guards. Though, he will be keeping an eye open for a certain component he requires for a spell to create some magical desert berries(Goodberry). If he can acquire the component and await the opportunity when he has the strength to create them this could be a huge success in his ability to strengthen the slaves for ultimately making a plan of escape. Other than this Gralth will make sure to be obedient in his duties as to not arouse suspicion to his true cause.
