I am looking for three or four more players interested in Waterdeep: Dragon Heist (already have two players lined up). About the module: it's an urban setting in the Forgotten Realms from levels 1 to 5. Expect intrigue. This particular game will take place in autumn, when cold, howling winds blow through the streets of Waterdeep.
Point buy, fixed HP, and starting equipment but you can buy and sell items at PHB prices. Anything official + UA is allowed, or run homebrew by me and I'll consider it. Any other questions, ask them here or PM me.
Orphaned at a young age, Amihan does not know her parents or the mysterious circumstances surrounding her lineage. Air Genasi are rare and looked at with suspicion and her distinct look made her a target on the streets she grew up on. An outcast, she ran away from the orphanage and took her chances on her own. She grew up fast and learned to hide away scraps of food, sneak what she needed, and fight from the shadows to defend herself. She was rescued from the streets by a kind scholar, who took pity on her when she tried to steal food from a street vendor. Taken in by the sages and monks of the Order, she studied at an isolated monastery, sharpening both her mind and her body. She learned to harness the power of her elemental heritage and is full of haughty confidence in both her knowledge and her martial skills. She has recently struck out on her own in her first pilgrimage, seeking greater knowledge of the world and a chance to give back by helping others.
My name is Maros, I was born deep in the Feywild citadel of Elaranyus during the wonderful season of summer. As a child I felt the need to wander the wild, drawn by an unseen force to a rift in the fabric of the world where I heard the loving voice of Lady Tempest Elder God of the Squall. The Lady reached into my mind granting me a fragment of her glory, and with this power she gave me a vision of an elaborate walking cane. I knew immediately that The Lady had given me a quest to seek this cane and take it for my own to better our connection.
After half a century of searching the Feywild, I have determined I must travel to the Mortal planes and continue my quest there. This plane will be an adventure for me, learning of the being there and the their customs will be very insightful and perhaps I can share them with Elaranyus. But no matter what I will hold myself tall, proud and strong to show this new plane I am able to defend myself and others from harm, because if all else fails I can always fight my way out of a situation.
Lyssa was born after an affair with a human sailor and adventurer, Lyall Seaworthy, and a drow elf. The drow gave baby Lyssa up to Lyall to take care of, and though he had a family of his own back in Waterdeep, he could not bring himself to abandon this child. Raised alongside Lyall's wife and two daughters, Lyssa was very much given the cold shoulder any bastard would expect, but she was close to her father, who did her best to stick up for her. Her half-sisters, too, would treat her with some kindness, but fall silent or join in whenever her stepmother would berate her. Whenever Lyall would go out to sea, Lyssa would see him off at the docks, then come back on the day he was to return and wait for him through thick or thin. She would make friends with the dock workers, sailors, and beggars that populated the Dock Ward, becoming much more comfortable on the streets than in her home. When she was eight, Lyall went out to sea and never returned. Lyssa waited for days, but he did not return. When she came home, she found it abandoned; her stepmother and half-sisters had moved away and left Lyssa behind. Heartbroken, Lyssa became one of the many homeless urchin children living in Waterdeep.
Over the years, she became quite skilled sneaking around guards and rough-looking characters, picking pockets and snatching fruits from the market, as well as learning how to talk her way out of trouble - or talk others into it. She prided herself on her thievery and became more and more ambitious with her heists, often giving out a lot of the proceeds to the neediest in the Dock Ward (surreptitiously, of course). Things took a turn when she robbed a smuggling ship associated with the Xanathar Thieves Guild, earning a price on her head from the criminal organization. Soon, she was a woman on the run, laying low in various lurks across Waterdeep until the heat died down a few months later. Now, the coast is somewhat clear, and Lyssa's itching to get back into some shady business. But she still goes down to the dock sometimes, waiting for the fateful day that her father's ship returns to port...
Backstory: Kai was known in the griffon calvary as one of the more skilled members, able to fly and attack in unison with his griffon, rather than having to mount it at all times. Flying became who he was, and it was a gift that he used to help both the city and any person who happened to need someone in the sky to assist. When he was shot out of the sky by a manticore, his wings broke beyond all hope of healing and were eventually removed. Devastated, Kai turned to the worshippers of Gond in Waterdeep. They built him some new wings (with an experimental rocket on them!) and taught him a thing or two about how to maintain them. With this knowledge and tech, Kai began seeking opportunities to push his new wings to their limit, to become a better guard and a better artificer overall.
