You remember a tavern, or was it a courtyard, or a dark trail through the woods, possibly a lich's tower. Wherever you may have been before now; you wake to find yourself on a cold stone floor, surrounded by the smell of rot, waste, and death. The chamber is dimly lit; a reddish glow illuminates the room around you.
Several cots lay nearby, torn and ragged from over use. A literal trough takes up a section of the wall; rotted food dumped on top of fetit water. A short, round, and wide pillar sits near the far side; where the reddish glow comes from. The pillar is covered with several deep gashes and even scars from magical attacks.
A door lays beyond the pillar; large, metal, and locked...for now.
If you are interested in playing in this adventure, all you need to do is make a level 1 character. Anything goes as long as it's in the books. No homebrew please.
Character idea: Damaia Heartstone - Tiefling Archfiend Warlock Damaia was born from a unholy union between a human and a devil. Her archfiend dad has great things planned for her. However, Damaia doesn't want to do any of that and wants to live her life her way and be her own person. Her dad has agreed to let her be herself on one condition: She goes into the Goblin King's Dungeon and retrieves a powerful artifact. If she can get it, she is free. If she dies, she has to work for her dad in the afterlife. Damaia was searching for this place but didn't have much luck. Then she got kidnapped and tossed in here. That was convenient.
Fizzlefuseshortwickticktockrattletwist Clocktopwrenchheadblackfingerson - Rock Gnome Artificer
Fizzlefuseshortwickticktockrattletwist Clocktopwrenchheadblackfingerson, also known as Fizzlewick Clockson among those less enthusiastic about names than gnomes, was born to a famous inventor and owner of a prominent invention business, called Clocktopwrenchheadblackfinger and Son. From the very beginning he was trained to take over the family business when his father retired. But when Fizzlewick was still a twosie(still in double digits for age, essentially the gnomish equivalent of a teenager), disaster struck. A new rival business was opened. It was run by a rather uncreative, though quite rich, gnome. At first it didn't seem to be much of a problem, but whenever Clocktop came up with a new invention, the rival business released it practically the day after, even if the idea was never talked about or written down. Eventually it was discovered that they were using advanced divination magic to find out what he was going to make ahead of time, but it was too late. The damage was done, and they were almost homeless. But Fizzlewick wasn't going to allow this. Even if he had to resort to thievery. And so, equipped with his father's inventions, Fizzlewick went out to save his family from poverty. He was sure to only steal from the undeserving, or those so rich they would not notice it. But his endeavors were risky, and did not often yield much. But then she heard of the goblin king's dungeon. Untold riches, they said, lie within. He who retrieves it would be the richest man in the world. If he survived. And so he set out, searching far and wide, asking for the location of the dungeon. And he found it. Or, rather, it found him, knocked him out, and dragged him within it, bound and gagged.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Bob is a Warforged Juggernaut who served as a soldier in the last war. A Paladin who follows the Path of Vol, he has always looked deep inside to draw the strength he needs - until one day when he looked inside - and saw something terrifying looking back. Since the war has come to an end, Bob finds himself cut loose - restless and looking for purpose - and worried about what may lurk deep within his soul....
OOC: How big is the room we are facing- specifically how many of us can fit in it at once? The one with the body in it? Is the rope taught or slack? Do we notice any traps?
The, now open, metal door is 10ft high and wide. The room is 20ft by 20ft, with a high ceiling; which glows with torchlight. The wooden door on the far wall is 6ft high and 5ft wide; you will have to squeeze to get through there.
Okay, not wanting to clutter the main thread too much, I'm a bit confused.
So the room we started in had 1 metal door. The room beyond had another door made of wood. This wooden door leads to the shrine room. Assuming the door we used to get to the shrine room is to the south (for sake of easily understanding how the room looks. It doesn't matter if the door is actually to the south or not), the shrine room is 40ft from East-West and 20ft from North-South. There is a wooden door and metal door on the west side. Shrine is in the middle. Besides the 2 doors on the west and the one on the south through which we came out of, there is no other door in the shrine room. Damaia blasted down the wooden door to the west.
Do I have this right? Were there any other doors in the room between the starting room and the shrine room that I missed?
First room, with the cots, has a metal door that raises; and apparently lowers. This door led to the second room with the bodies. The second room only had one other door that leads to the shrine room. This one was wood, but has now been destroyed by Damaia.
The shrine room has four other doors, beyond the now broken one; which you are standing infront of. Two of which are on the same wall as the broken door; one to each side and both made of wood. The broken door is in the middle of the room. There are also a door on each of the side walls; one of iron to the left and another of wood to the right.
Unless the Tesla coils do something specific, I'm going to have it count as the weapon's damage type as well as lightning damage. So your current shape of longsword would count as Slashing/Lightning Damage. Sound good?

Probably be good to say Point Buy (25 points) for building characters.
Wait 25 points? Not the usual 27? Okay, made a character.
Oops, my mistake. 27 is fine.

If you have any questions ask them here, consider this an OOC thread.
I'm going to try to keep OOC questions over here, if possible. Less clutter on the story thread and all.

The rope is slack and you don't notice any traps.
Got it - thanks!
I assume you're running the four adventurers who were already in the room? Or are you keeping them in a holding pattern for other users?
Just trying to figure out what will happen if opening a door triggers combat.

I see. That makes things more clear. Editing my last post to reflect this.
