As Torvin is reading the Welcome to Barovia sign and an unidentified something wooshes in front of him he lets out a startled "By Moraden's beard" as he spins around trying to figure out just what exactly is going on
By gods, man! You scared the life out of me! Are you von Zarovich? A dwarf steps into view, gripping a warhammer tightly. He's wearing well used chainmail and has a large scar on his right cheek.

Back and ready to DM and chew bubblegum. And I'm alllll outta bubblegum.
"Nay friend. My name is Torvin Thunderheart." The dwarf says. "I have not heard of von Zarovich who may he be?" Torvin also is dressed in chain mail his shield bears the emblem of Moradin- a hammer & anvil. He also wields a war hammer.
I am Skorn Battlehammer. I did not expect to see a kinsmen out here. He pulls out the letter he received and hands it to Torvin. This was given to me by a strange person in a tavern in Neverwinter, which I seem to no longer be in.
The letter reads:
Dear traveler, I have noticed you from affar and I am keenly interested in your adventuring skills. I am inviting you to my home at Castle Ravenloft in Baravoia. Here you will meet me and why I have sent for you. I am eagerly awaiting for your arrival. We will have dinner and wine as well. Sincerely,
Strahd von Zarovich

"Aye it is good to run into a brother Dwarf under these circumstances."
"I received no letter, I was walking in the woods near Neverwinter when a fog descended upon me and I ended up here." "It looks as if we only have 1 choice on direction to go." "That is if you would not mind some company on your way to meet this Strahd fellow."
Aye, I could use the company. I have a terrible feeling of dread in this place, and I think sticking together would be for the best. Besides, what in the realms could face down 2 dwarves and walk away unscathed?

Skorn stops to see what Torvin is looking at. See there? That's not normal behavior for an animal. And this mist isn't natural either. I don't like feeling like I'm being herded, and that is what it seems to be doing.

Torvin you see small figure walking towards you
Torvin squints trying to see if he can make out any features of the small figure. "hail friend" Torvin exclaims

As soon as you see each other the fog closes behind you as if a door to only show you one way forward.

As the two companions continue down the road you start to hear something on one of the branches
" Aye brother Skorn with Moradin watching over us whatever would stand in our way will regret the choice of doing so"
You wanna roll for something?

You see a crow perched on the top of one of the twisted branch staring at the both of you with red eyes.

"I am in total agreement with you Skorn."
"Do you have any suggestions on how to proceed?"
"I can try to take a shot at it with my crossbow"
Let's not antagonize anything yet...this path has to lead somewhere. Just keep an eye on the thing, and let's try to move a little more quickly.
