I've been developing a simple little setting to run oneshots and mini-campaigns with friends. The idea is to have something ready in a spontaneus occurance of DnD-appetite. Actually since im finished this has not happened and thats why im here now. So if you are interested in playing a randomly generated quest thats the place. I intend this to be a one-and-done but if it works out great we might continue and turn it into a campaign of sorts. So with that in mind you dont need a lot of backstory, but go nuts if you want. Its mostly for the case that we continue, that way i have something to tie your characters into the story a bit. You can use the map and locations as inspiration (if i can get it posted in the first place). This is my "DM" version for the lack of a player version. Embrace it and the information given, this is basically a test for my generators. I also trust you to not meta-game.
You can use races from the PHB and classes/subclasses from any source. If you have anything different in mind for your race, put it in the post and i'll see what i can do. Use standart array or point buy for stats. We start at 2nd level, because 1st level is kinda boring if you ask me. Feats are allowed and so is custom lineage if you model it after one of the PHB races.
I am looking for 3 or 4 players. I'll leave this open until i find a few fun ones.
Whoo, i almost forgot. Please add a d6 roll to your post

This looks like a really lovely setting :) I'd be very interested in joining; currently thinking of playing a young gnome from either Kelldur or one of the villages around Di'rios who is setting out to explore the world. Are the "surrounding Gnome villages" around Di'rios located within the forest itself?
Character idea
Reference pic credit: u/soraskellington on Reddit
Character: Samwell Fizzles
Race: Forest Gnome
Class: Artificer / Wizard
Personality: Samwell is a tinkerer with an curious soul. As a child he loved exploring the complex network of warrens that criss-crossed beneath the large forest in the western plains, and as he grew up his love for exploration often took him above ground. He would wander the forest paths until he found Di'rios, and sometimes spent time with the elves of the outpost, who were gracious with the curious gnome, answering his questions about magic and the world.
Backstory: But Samwell dreamed of traveling further, perhaps to find other hidden outposts and villages in the forest, and even to one day leave the forest, maybe even to travel to Dimmodeus' Leap, where the famed Gnome brought a flying machine and took off into the night sky, flying like an eagle across the land, or so the rumor went. And so one day he set off, packing his backpack and journal to record his adventures, intending to first stop by Di'rios to ask for advice on the paths to take out of the forest towards the north and easy of the continent...
Also, just adding that I'm very familiar with 5e and PBP, but I usually play on Discord so I might not be too familiar with any quirks and such specific to this forum, assuming we're playing on here. (Edit: like the "manipulated dice rolls" warning thing, not sure what's going on with that...)
Yes the villages are within the bounds of the forrest, though it doesn't have to be if you so wish. You can give the village a name if you want, no worry about naming convention needed.
Glad to hear you like it. I intended for it to be a (mostly) happy place with the occasional trouble
I would like to throw my hat in the ring for this with a Paladin! I am not VERY familiar with 5e, so I hope noobs are allowed :D
This is my character idea (I will stat him up if you give me the thumbs up :D):
Character: Telurion
Background: Soldier
Class: Paladin
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Character Details: Telurion does not look like your average knight in shining armor paladin - he has dark disheveled hair, and piercing deep brown eyes. After having been through some tough times in his life, he has a grim posture for those who meet him initially. It takes him a long time to make friends, but once he does, he is a steadfast companion. His gear is not always in pristine condition, but he is trying to improve on his discipline.
Brief Backstory: Telurion comes from an orphan background in the streets, after his parents both died of extreme poverty and sickness - he expected to find kindness and compassion from the neighborhood and other merchants who many times rubbed shoulders with his parents, but he was wrong... Eventually he turned to a life of petty crime just so he could survive, but things were not going well even so. He was 'rescued' by Talian - a wandering warrior who took pity on the starving child, and who would become his mentor in those early years. She taught him the value of trust and friendship when he was at his worse, and brimming with rage for those who did nothing for his parents when they so desperately needed help... And then she was gone,. leaving him with only a cryptic farewell note (which I will detail more as/if we move along), and an apology for stealing away like a thief in the night. She wrote it had to be done, but did not explain anything further, writing only that he was prepared to face the world at large, and should not hesitate in doing so. Telurion managed to find from a guard on watch in which direction Talian had followed out of the city, and in the next day he departed after her without thinking twice. So far he has had no luck in finding any clues about her whereabouts, but he does not intend to give up!

This sounds really cool, I would really like to join!
Race: Hobgoblin. I can change it if you want me too, but I recently got it from Monsters of the multiverse, and would really like to play one : )
Class: Fighter (sub-class is going to be a cavalier at level 3)
Background: Outlander
Gender: Male
Personality: A staying strong, not going to back down, fight for what I believe in kind of fellow. Can be a bit stubborn at times, but is nice once you get to know him, and is very loyal and protective towards his friends.
Backstory:
Chantell Rider (My character) grew up in Pirn. His family were poor, so he didn't have much of a education. Plus he is a Hobgoblin, so all of the humans in the city regarded him as lesser than them. His life was pretty dull, apart from one thing that brightened it up: Horse riding. From the age of 6, if chantell wasn't eating or sleeping, you could find him grooming and attempting to ride the horses on the farm just outside of town. He loved all the horses there, but His favourite was a beautiful white mare, with chestnut colored hooves and a long stripe of chestnut going from her nose all the way to her tail. Her name was Artemis, and she was the first horse chantell learnt to ride. He worked for the farmer who owned the horses, until he had enough to buy her. At 14, he wrote to the local riding school, asking to join. They said no. They gave no reason why, but Chantell new the reason. "Why!" he cried into the sky one night. "why can't I be a human!" There and then, on that night, he made the decision to leave, to lead a life of adventure, away from the capital, and by the next morning he and Artemis were gone. He is, of now, 24, having spent the last 10 years traveling, fighting, training, and looking for adventure.

Character: Niesella Strathrimyrran
Background: Hermit
Class: Wizard
Alignment: Neutral
Character Details: Niesella left her home in Fi'ridas over a hundred years ago to study magic among nature, away from the bustling city. She learned to fend for herself, only going into small towns on occasion to get the things she could not make for herself, or books of knowledge for her to read. Her High Elven elegance and grace have been replaced by boldness, daring, and an animal like countenance. She is now returning to society having mastered the basics of arcane magic, to find a mentor to teach her further, and to re establish herself.
Brief Backstory: Niesella was born to High Elven family who was very highly considered in the town of Fi'ridas, they were considered kind if not a bit eccentric. She was brought up with every advantage, schooling, private tutors, but she wanted more. She didn't want to be forged, she wanted to forge, forge herself, transform, transmute even into something far greater than some aristocrat. So she left, packed her things and left her family. It was a cold act, not even saying goodbye to friends, family, leaving only a note that said "Don't look for me". No one understood, but Niesella needed this. Her family of course did look for her, fearing the note was only a ruse to cover a kidnapping, but after years of searching and with no ransom given, they had to return to living their own lives. In the wilds Niesella communed with nature, she became as one with it as she could, learning what breathed life into fire, how to request it to change. She pondered questions like, "What are we made of, are we fire? We are water, but can we become ice? Are we all just Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth in mixed proportions? What of metals, are they just hardened Earth? Or are they an elements of their own?" She learned to transmute these elements, wood to iron, iron to silver, silver to iron. And when she ran out of books, scrolls, tomes, anything she could find. When nature had taught her all she could understand, for now, she decided to pack up her things and return to society, one hundred years old, and wiser.

Planning on playing him as a Defender kind of Paladin - a 'grim tank' so to speak.
That looks all good to me and i already got a few ideas for the future

My character sheets character picture isn't accurate, I'm yet to create what Chantell looks like.
Let me know what you think of all that!
