Looking for 4-6 players to go through lost mines of Phandelver, then possibly on to homebrew campaign afterwards. Will attempt to post most days Monday- Friday, hopefully my players will be able to do the same! I prefer to run a more character driven campaign, so will be looking for PCs who are a little more three dimensional and with an interesting backstory.
If you're interested in playing, reply below with your character details and backstory for a level one character. Please keep your backstory to less than 100 words, because frankly if it's longer than that I may not read it. Also I will be giving preference to heroic adventurers, so maybe save your lawful evil assassins for another time!
I will be looking over the characters for the next week and will message successful candidates directly, then we can begin the campaign on a new thread.
About 33 years old, middling height, dark brown hair and eyes, strong features, jovial demeanor.
Nicola was given up by her family as a child due to a famine and not enough mouths to feed, to be a nun at a monastery, and she served dutifully though her childhood and early adulthood. She was a passionate student and advocate for the poor and downtrodden in her community. However, one day she learned that the order she served was using tithes and donations collected from the people to support a corrupt government rather than the community it was supposed to serve, and she spoke out against it. She was cast out of the order as a heretic and now is forced to make her way as an adventurer, making ends meet by helping with healing and doing odd jobs here and there.
She maybe wants one day to get revenge, but that's been put on the back burner while she tries to survive. She also always gets pulled into helping people out because she cares about the plight of poor people and those facing hardships.
Description: Tall, slender and pale like the birch tree, Irena steps silently from shadow to shadow. Her coppery ringlets are tucked securely into the back of her green hood and her emerald green eyes sparkle with mischief.
Backstory: Irena grew up in the forests around Shadowdale playing at adventure and listening to tales of heroes like Elminster and the Knights of Myth Drannor. It was while she was exploring those woodlands that she met the reclusive witch Brianne Morelseeker. In return for certain chores she was taught the rudiments of magic and later on she was taught the way of the ranger by her woodsman father. Her wandering feet have since taken her to the Sword Coast in search of adventure and new vistas.
Description: Inza moslty green skin and a set of chain armor made by the githyanki
Backstory: Inza grew up as most children of the githyanki did. Training for rigorous combat taught that the other races where beneath them and deserved to be pillaged for there valuable loot. And when the time came Inza and the other githyanki he trained with went to complete there right of passage into becoming true adults... killing an Illilthid. Inza was ready for this task and he set out on it with virger... but it proved to be disasterous. Inza's group was not ready for the horrors of a mind flayer complex and where picked off before attempting to escape. Inza was the only surviver of his group. He has not gone back to the githyanki out of shame and now wants to make a new name for himself in the material plane

Name: Belyax
Race: Dragonborn
Class: Bard
Background: Far-traveler
Backstory: Belyax was the third to hatch in her family, some lessor nobles. She wasn't expected to inherit when her parents died but she was expected to bring honor to her name. Finding that she had skill with a blade at a young age, she was enrolled with a military school but after an incident in her teens she was exiled from her homeland. Now she wonders staying here or there and passing her native songs for food and lodging and skill with a blade and magic for extra coin.
Description: Tall human, dressed in a City Watch uniform with cloak. Crossbow slung over his back with bolt case to his side, bandoleer across his chest holding darts, couple daggers, couple of clubs and his Great club in his hand. His hair is long but kept back in a ponytail and the sides of his face sport thick chops he keeps shaved and maintained.
Background: Cadfrey grew up in a local orphanage, being told his parents died in some war far off. The nuns were dismayed when his "gifts" first manifested but from that day on Cadfrey knew he was special and the rules didn't really apply to him like other kids. After a few years of hi jinx and brushes with the law, a local Officer, Boyd Goodspeed, took young Cadfrey under his wing and eventually Cadfrey joined the watch. Boyd is sick now from some odd, rare disease. Local healers and the like either can't cure Boyd or there is not enough gold between Cadfrey and Boyd to pay for it and the City Watch has left Boyd to his fate. Cadfrey, after overhearing a few adventurers talk about their exploits and treasures gained, has turned in his city medallion, collected his things, told Boyd and his wife to hold on for a few and has set out to find enough gold to get Boyd that cure.
Description: A maroon skinned tiefling with piercing white eyes, short black hair, and curling black horns to match. Adorned in robes of various woodland colors. Escaping the collar line on the back of his neck is a vibrant blue tattoo, and another when his right sleeve is pushed up revealing his forearm.
Background: Barakas had the typical beginning of his kind, dropped off at an orphanage. He grew up in the system until the age of 13. Between the constant bullying and neglect from prospective parents he bgean to lash out. No longer putting up with it, Barakas was handed over the the Order of the Verdant Brotherhood, a monestary the taught strict discipline, order, martial arts, and the lore of the land. He was difficult and resistant at first, but gave in. He still deals with anger issues from time to time. One day a local townsfolk saw Barakas and began spreading the rumor that the monestary was dealing in devil worship. The monestary was going to defend him, but Barakas decided that the cloister shouldn't be brought down on his count, so he packed up and fled under the cover of night. While on the road he heard about the life of an adventurer and the company that comes with it, and maybe that's where he'll find the acceptance he craves while putting his martial skill to some use.
Background: Folk Hero Backstory: Raised as the second son of furniture makers, he spent his youth helping with the delicate carving of custom furniture, a hobby he maintains to this day. When he was of age, he enlisted in the local militia and proved himself as a capable warrior and climbed the ranks as far as sergeant. His family and neighbors are quite proud of his accomplishments, and he's fairly certain that in another few years they'll have forgotten that incident and let him come home. Now that his term of service is up, a bit of wanderlust has entered his soul again. Signing up for the first job he could find leaving the city, he finds himself here.
Background: When asked about his past, Akimon is silent for a long time and his face becomes grim. He explains briefly that he is a member of the Leonidos family, a mearchant clan that was once one of the wealthiest in Baldur's Gate. When he came of age, he left the family's estate and settled down in the hinterlands of Waterdeep. There he led a seculed life helping the nearby villagers, in an attempt to atone for his family's misdeeds.

Description: Having reached adulthood just a few years prior, Quarthon has a youthful appearance with long dark hair, green eyes, and the copper skin tone typical of his race. He wears a signet ring on his left pinky finger, typically a symbol of status, but his simple clothes contradict this, looking faded and worn.
Background: Quarthon was born into a respected family within a wood elf tribe of the Eastern High Forest - the grandson of one of the tribe Elders. Extremely shy and introspective, he kept to himself and had few friends, save one, Elyon, another descendant of an Elder.
Quarthon seemed to have a natural affinity for unarmed combat and he would often spar with Elyon among the trees in the forest. On one of these occasions a year ago, Quarthon knocked Elyon prone with a push to the chest as he had so many times before. Only this time, in a random quirk of fate, Elyon’s head hit a rock at just the right angle killing him instantly. Filled with horror, grief, guilt, and fear, only one thought entered in Quarthon’s mind...RUN!!
Backstory: Gar is the latest in a long line of dwarves cursed with the traits of monstrosities unspoken. His ancestor Gurda Gnawengraver, took it upon herself to help her clan protect against supernatural beings and wished to Dumathoin for a way to ensure the safety and longevity of her line. To this day each and every member of the clan has gained monstrous traits upon maturity, and has been taught to defend those less equipped to handle eldritch creatures.
Backstory: Ugudash clawed his way through childhoods on the city streets. After being helped fending off scoundrels who took advantage of his smaller child frame, he was offered a bed and place to stay by an innkeeper who could relate. Fear masked with pride, Ugudash said that he didn’t need them, until a very cold wet and unkind night found him knocking on the inn’s door. The innkeeper, an old knave, brushed up Ugudash’s skills, while keeping him busy working in the inn’s kitchens. The half-orc was sent him to “check” on targets with ill intent on the community. Ugudash finally found a place where it was warm, and he was liked.

Backstory: Nyx was found as a newborn on the steps of an orphanage with no sign of who had left her. The only thing the baby had on her was a bright green feather. Among the children of the orphanage she stood out, as the other kids were mostly human. She was often picked on and bullied for her strange appearance, and even the adults gossiped about her, forbidding her from using her shapeshifting abilities. When she was 10 she ran away, unable to take the bullying anymore. She wandered the streets for a week, and was on the brink of starvation when another urchin, a halfling, took her in. He showed her how to pass unnoticed and how to steal enough to keep herself fed. During this time she also caught and tamed her pet mouse Amos. Having learned from her childhood that her identity as a changeling was something to be ashamed of, she developed a separate persona, Elizabeth. She finally stole enough that she was able to buy a rapier and a few other items, stealing anything she couldn't afford, only taking from rich merchants. She now spends most of her time earning money where she can and helping anyone she find on the streets, in an attempt to repay the debt owed to the halfling who helped her. Her biggest fear is that someone will discover that she is a changeling, and it is something she works to keep hidden

Hello! Thanks for the feedback, here are some answers to your questions.
Ability score generation- I like to use standard array or point buy rather than rolling as it keeps the party more balanced with each other.
Race/ Class restrictions- as long as its from the official books, I am open to it. No UA (I haven’t read any of it, sorry guys).
Character submission setup- just post in a reply as above.
I’ve really enjoyed reading the characters so far, thanks for the brilliant submissions!
