I'm starting an adventure for players who wish to experiment with a higher tier character. I don't have any experience in higher tier play myself, so we'll see where it goes.
Story: After numerous adventures, the adventurers have been given a piece of land of their own where they can construct their own castle. With the prospect of, in time, becoming a renowned province, the adventurers set of to claim their land. Before setting of, you have heard warnings about the region. Some say it has already been claimed by mighty adventurers like yourselves long ago, but no one has heard of them for ages.
Any official source can be used to create you character. Number of players: 4 (3 free slots) To apply post a level 20 character: -Name -Race -Class -Short backstory of the kind of adventures your character has been on (with or without the current party) -link to character (if made on D&D beyond)
For stat determination, you can choose between rolling, standard array or point buy. If you choose rolling, the rolling has to be done here and you can choose to reroll ones. In addition to your basic equipment you get 20,000 gp (can be used to purchase additional nonmagical gear), 2 uncommon magic items and 1 rare magic item. You can't spend the 20,000 gp to buy additional magic items.
You certainly have been on multiple adventures together. It is up to you however to choose whether this is your exclusive group or that you have been on other adventures alone or with another group. (as illustrated by @DragoneDenn below) I try to balance between the combat/exploration/..., but I tend to focus more on rp.
The aim is to get an average posting of at least 1/week. This is a deliberate choice due to my own availability. We'll be posting on this board and an OOC on D&D Beyond only, so no Discord channel or similar.
Former adventures: Although highborn, Willem's early adventure career catered to mostly assisting merchants and caravans. Driving off bandits and raiders, even escorting pilgrimages when the cause was right.
As he progressed, he moved on to hunting spellcasters that had decided to turn from society and attempt more dastardly endeavors. This and the minions he encountered earned him a reputation as a mage slayer.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ability scores: 14161512913

I find myself with many fun ideas here. I will post a few options below,a nd we can see if any of them work with the group you assemble...
God-wizard...
Name: Taman Landon
Race: Variant Human
Class: Cleric (knowledge) 1 / Wizard (diviner) 19
Background: Sage
Backstory:
Taman has spent his life traveling to ancient ruins seeking out ancient knowledge. he has been part of this group though for many years now, and they have traveled together, doing what needs doing, with Taman using his vast knowledge and arcane might to help out. His main job in the group is to make the battles easier for his companions, and not necessarily to deal the killing blows himself.
Saralyssa is a force of nature. She is a red-haired, and firey-tempered, gnome who has studied the ancient lore to find ways to enhance her arcane power. She was forced out of her home at an early age, when a dragon came and destroyed the village. She devoted her life after that to gaining enough power and companions to seek out the dragon and slay him. The battle was fierce, but she, and her companions, managed the deed. In her group she is the arcane powerhouse, slamming their enemies with magical blast after magical blast.
Raven grew up with a mother who ran a tavern in a local city, and a father who lived in the woodlands nearby. She spent the winters with her mother, and her summers with her father. Her mother was a bard of some repute, who opened a tavern in her later years. Her father a paladin of the Elven god of vengeance. Raven had her own group of friends as well, the wrong-sort, according to both of her parents, where she learned the criminal arts of picking pockets and much more. Raven left home eventually to have fun and see more of the world. She joined a group of adventurers and aided them in looting many ancient strongholds. She is the sneak of the party, seeking out enemy threats before they know the party is even there, and eliminating them without sound or notice.
Leshanna spent her life seeking out those who have evaded law, or justice. She worked on contract, seeking out those she was hired to find, and bringing them back, or dealing justice as required herself. she joined the group when they were seeking the same individual as herself, and worked with them to find the quarry and return him to justice. She would be the ranged warrior of the group, using her longbow to send covering arrows in to strike at the enemy from a distance.
Class: Paladin (Oath of the ancients) 8 / Wizard (War mage) 2 / Warlock (Hexblade) 1 / Bard (College of Bards) 9
Background: Soldier
Backstory:
Leann left her people, sent out to infiltrate the human society close to their nest. She found she liked the humans, and ended up betraying her own people for the sake of the humans she befriended. She eventually found a paladin who she traveled with, and who taught her the way of the ancients. After that she traveled, trying to learn more about the humans she had protected, and to see more of the world. Her people sought her though, so she could not stay in one place too long. She spent some time as a wizard's apprentice, as well as some time studying with bards of the sword. When she joined the group it was to enter an ancient temple, where she came across a black crystal that spoke to her. She wears this crystal still, the link to some dark entity there, but her link with it only minimal. She would be the up-front warrior of the group, taking the fight directly to their enemies with her straight-forward, no hesitating, approach.
I have not done equipment on the above, and spells might need some work, but there are the links anyway. If you would rather I just submit one of the above, then that is fine, but I thought this would give some flexibility in what would make a good party.
I'm very interested. I'll put together a half-elf paladin and get the link here. I have a few questions:
As mentioned above, how should we do our stats? (Point buy, roll, standard array etc..)
Are you thinking of a weekly time commitment (1 hour a week) or just posting on the boards here? The play mechanics are a little vague
Are you requiring any offsite access? (Like discord or such)
-Name -- Real Domdogan -Race -- Half-Elf -Class -- Paladin/sorcerer/warlock/wizard -Short backstory of the kind of adventures your character has been on (with or without the current party) -- Real was projected to be a great Knight of the realm but reality has not been so kind. He was betrayed as a result became a paladin and took an Oath of Vengeance to retrieve his honor. He has innate spell casting ability and has studied to improve this with his intelligence. He continues to fight for those who have been betrayed. -link to character (if made on D&D beyond) -- This one was made with point buy, can redo if other options available - Real Domdogan
Class: Wizard (obviously, subclass will depend on my access to content, but I'll start with Evoker)
Backstory: Pluvyus started his adventuring career with one goal in mind. To open a chain of adventure themed taverns. He is trying toward an alternate form of lichdom, creating simulacrums of himself to manage his various restaurants.
He's run the gamut of adventures, from slaying trolls to outwitting sphinxes. He's now looking to retire after one last hurrah setting up the castle.
Background: Sage (for now, may alter if there is content unlocked.)
Another question sorry - we have 20k gold, 1 rare item and 2 uncommon... can we use the 20k to buy more magical items? If so, what price would you put on them (since they don't have a default value)?
I like rolling so I'll roll the 4d6 without rerolls. If instruction comes back to do something else I'll gladly adjust.
Here's hoping for decent rolls... Ability scores: 161311121115
Name: Tova Flashfang
Race: Shifter-Swiftstride
Class: Warlock hex blade level 20
Background: inheritor
Backstory: Member of the Flashfang tribe, Tova inherited Scalecutter, a magic blade particularly dangerous to dragons. Long did he train to be worthy of such a blade with the task to protect his home from evil dragons. For years it rote training with not much challenge but eventually he left to seek a adventure and glory. After leaving, he found friends, lost some, travel to across kingdoms, into elemental planes, fought all manner of foes and eventually returned home... or to what use to be home. While away, a green dragon had taken up residence within his families territory and laid waste to them. Without Scalecutter, the tribe warriors were unable to slay the creature. With a call for aid to his adventuring friends they were able to slay the creature but he could not stand to remain in the area with his tribe dead.
Thanks for the updated info. Regarding rolling for stats, I assume 4d6 drop lowest, but are we re-rolling anything (1s once,1s always), and if we don’t like the rolls, can we choose point buy, or would you rather we stick with what we got?
I'm very, very interested in this! I've only played early to mid game characters so experimenting with level 20 is very intriguing and I think could be really rewarding and educational.
Name: Ignus Olocan Race: Fire Genasi Class: Wizard (Evocation with a heavy emphasis on fire magic/spells)
Backstory: As a genasi, Ignus was a bit of an outcast growing up. He also had a bit of a temper thanks to his heritage. He took to studying, focusing on the fire that breathed and lived within him. Eventually, Ignus became a very capable wizard, and was recruited to join a guild of mages working to protect the realm from encroaching evil from other planes of existence. Despite being fairly antisocial and irritable, Ignus grew to love and cherish his companions. Over the years, he grew more and more powerful, traveling where he was needed. He grew close with his barn owl familiar, Tyto. With the help of a few other spell-casters and powerful warriors, he defeated Yeenoghu, the demon lord of savagery and butchery, just before the Gnoll Lord was able to enter the material plane. Ignus is now determined to continue seeking knowledge, and has a new goal: to claim this land he and his companions have been offered, and turn it into a shining beacon for the rest of the world. Filled with truth and fairness. What could go wrong?

How would we roll for initial stats?
Also, I daresay I could post more than once a week, unless that’s a deliberate timescale on your part.
Would you prefer that everyone has been adventuring together since ‘level 1’ or that they came together recently?
I went with Point buy.
