An adventure for 4-6 players of level 1. This is the first adventure in a campaign based on the "Scarred Lands" Players Guide, on the continent of Ghelspad. (You don't need to be familiar with it)
While the characters shop in the marketplace of a small village, a thunderous boom interrupts the peaceful commerce. A large plume of smoke rises from the outskirts of town, and the locals rightly determine that the source of the blast must be the home of a local wizard named Tsendur. Investigating, the party discovers that something terrible and powerful has been stolen from the old wizard that threatens to unleash the power of a long dead Titan and endanger every life on Ghelspad!
D&D 5E, one post minimum per day (Posting more is fine. I'll probably post one or two times per day. Normally I play at about 9:00PM PST, UTC-8. That's when I will digest all of the actions and determine the outcome. If I don't see a post from a player, I'll assume he is performing the help action, or continuing what he is doing.)
15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 for stats.
No race or class restrictions, but from the Basic Rules is preferred.
Greetings, meet Kendrick, who until recently was first mate of the merchant vessel Razor's Kiss. A disagreement with the captain who had decided to turn to piracy resulted in a long walk off a short plank for the honorable barbarian, and after an even longer swim, Kendrick made it to shore. Living off the land and traveling through the wilderness, he eventually found himself in a small village. Headed to the marketplace to look for work, he hears the boom and looks around, having literally not spoken to anyone since walking the plank...What kind of town is this?
Below is a link to my character Bilick Glassanvil. Bilick lost his parents at a very young age, and grew up in the streets of one of the major cities of Ghelspad. Growing up in the city, Bilick always dreamed of escape and living his life in nature. Soon thereafter, he had his opportunity, as a chance encounter with an elven druid named Vaharal convinced him to abandon the urban life and join a druid circle that protected a nearby grove.
Decades later, fully immersed in his new life, Bilick has now returned to civilization, visiting the marketplace of a town not far from his birthplace to gather supplies for his circle. Now uncomfortable with life in the midst of civilization, Bilick is anxious to do his business and leave... until he hears the explosion and sees the smoke rising from edge of town.
Being born a yuan-ti, Tella is looked at as a monster, but she had a blessing of a pure singing voice. One faithful day, someone heard her singing on the street, and hired her to sing at his night club. Although, Tella has some other things on her mind, like hoping one day to be worthy to become an immortal serpent, she trained and fought, still perusing her dreams.
Sounds good. How about you are from the Bridged City, which is a large city 33 miles north west of Durgan's Rest,. Durgan's rest is the small city where this adventure takes place?
CherryBomb314,
How about that "Night Club" is the Crossed Wands Tavern in Durgan's Rest?
Balos Birona, a bounty hunter by trade, travels town to town looking for coin and favor. A quiet man that is honorable and fair. Was about to skip town thinking this small town had nothing to offer until the explosion on the edge of town. Curious and genuinely concerned made his way over. Caution was ever present in his mind, but by the sound of the locals concern he couldn't ignore it. Beats hunting down kobolds in some dank cave system somewhere.
Avrick Stormhand devotee of Pan and born from a pact with a shadow man (plans to multiclass to warlock) backstory attached, but short version
Parents abandoned him since he was a teifling to noble elven parents due to a deal they made to a shadow man, Av grew up in an orphanage until 18 where he set off on his own finally.
He grew to be connected to nature and a devotee of Pan meanwhile the 'shadow man' has whispered promises in his ear of power, and of his parents. Avrick wishes to discover more about his parents, the shadow man, and what dark secrets may wait for him.
Idk what city hed be from originally but he is likely window shopping for things he know he cant afford, wondering where he should go next when he hears the boom

Zan had arrived in town early in the morning. He arrived not by road but by his usual highways of rivers, streams, and game trails. After stealing himself some breakfast from the marketplace he made his way up and down the streets inspecting the homes and residents. Hopping from roof to roof he had a momentary flashback from his childhood: he was jumping from boulder to boulder along a mountain stream, deep in forests never seen by men. He landed softly upon the next roof top as the smoke from a nearby chimney made its way into his nose. Immediately his memory shifted to the fires that had destroyed his people, his forest, and nearly everything that he had loved. Hundreds of years later the memories still came roaring back, the fires burning bright as ever in his mind.
Osso Greyclaw travels to Durgans Rest once every three moons. Trading furs, hides and woven goods that his tribe produce. The Greyclaws usually keep well away from cities, or even small towns, preferring the company of animals to that of people. Osso has a much greater tolerance for the varying races of Ghelspad. An underlying desire to see the world has always been there, deep inside. That desire is why he is the one to volunteer to visit the market. Every time.
When the blast happens he is mid deal with the tailor, selling his latest pack of furs. He is so alarmed by the explosion that he runs out of the stall, leaving both his furs and his payment behind.
Well, its past your 'usual' posting time and the Recruiting tag is still up, so I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring too. I work nights in your time zone, so I'd probably be posting about the same time.
If its first-come-first-served, I totally get it. :)
Zanver is a young man (just old enough to get killed adventuring) who grew up an orphan in the little village of Durgan's Rest. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and in this case, it certainly did. Zanver had a few foster families, but none could bear the burden of caring for him for too long. When he was old enough to work and earn his keep, he did. He had a knack for repairing and tinkering with everything from a farmer's plow to the blacksmith's tongs to that one squeaky cabinet in the local tavern. As he got older, and got better, he begin to experiment with magic. After all, wasn't magic just another force that could be applied? If had just the right components, whittled the components of a wand in just the right way, could he improve a spell beyond what it was supposed to do?
They warned him, of course. Warned him to be careful. He was a good kid, and nobody wanted to see him old, alone, and a little 'wierd'. Namely, they didn't want him to end up like Tsendur.
Of course, when the explosion occurs, more than a few heads might turn in Zanver's direction.
Are you still recruiting? Are you accepting warforged? Are you accepting artificers?
If the answer to ALL 3 of these questions are yes then I will rework and submit C14-5H3R as a level 1 character. He is level 20 right now for a different submission, but I am really just looking for a place that I can play a battle smith.

Kord, the deity of storm and strength watches over a small village at the end of the world. The Tortle's that occupy this small village worship Kord, but fear him. Geggi, the son of the village healer Oogway does not fear the unknown. With his head held high, he confronts their worshiped deity. Kord embraces Geggi's courage and strikes a deal with him, quite literally. Kord bestows magical powers upon Geggi, leaving a deep burn on his right side of his body. In return Geggi must find a magical staff to enhance the gods Tempest powers. With a literal Flash, Geggi begins his journey.

Judging by the fact that the thread started today I am going to assume that invites went out to those selected...
Thank you for the consideration. I would not mind being on the short list should you need additional adventurers.
