Hello! My name is Aragon and I'll be you DM for this campaign.
Since everyone is stuck at home now, there has been an influx of newer players. The only downside to this is, none of them really know how to play (Yet ;)). I've noticed several other players starting intro adventures, but we still have newer players. I'm going to try to help with that.
Rules: You have to be a new(er) player, (otherwise it kills the whole point of the campaign.), and you can only use basic classes/races, ability scores will be SA (Standard Array.) and you must be able to post daily. I know it's a crazy world right now, so if anything comes up, please let me know. If you just disappear I may have to remove you from the campaign.
What I need from you:
Character Name: (Fantasynamegenerater.com is a really good site to get names.)
Race: (Human, Dwarfish, Elvish, Halfling.)
Class: (Fighter, Cleric, Rogue, Wizard.)
Background:
Backstory: (One or two sentences describing your character.)
Backstory: Flint is one of the last survivors of an ill-fated clan of dwarves that tried for several generations to make an isolated northern archipelago their home. He spent his entire adult life battling waves and storms in an effort to scratch out a life for himself and his people. Although he dreamt of traveling the world and adventuring in his youth, his sense of duty kept him bound to the islands. Instead he devoted himself to Thor and spent the last century caring for the spiritual and pragmatic needs of his clan. Life in the archipelago was dangerous. Too many times Flint was called on to preform funeral rights for friends and family. The disastrous storms of the last season finally broke the will of his clan. They abandoned their home and scattered across the continent. His life’s work in shambles, Flint returned to the dreams of his youth.
I am totally new to PBP. So, I am looking for an introduction.
Backstory: Eraminus was the youngest son of a farmer with one too many mouths to feed. He was handed over to the faith as an infant and raised among monks and clerics, but never fully took to the theological aspects of faith. His upbringing came with plenty of chores for him to do, hardening his body while a formal education sharpened his mind. He grew fond of the Paladins who occasionally visited, watching them spar. Upon reaching adulthood, he left the monastery to find his own way in the world. He found himself enlisting in a militia for a lesser lord. He was taught how to fight while in the militia and became rather proficient at it. When the campaign ended for the season he found himself with a purse full of coin but was out a job. He now aims to join with a band of mercenaries or adventures to make a name for himself.
Race: Half-Elf Class: Rogue Background: Criminal (skipped criminal pack and took money to upgrade armour, if that's OK)
Backstory: His mother assures him that his father was a "very fancy elf", and very powerful. This did not stop his family falling on hard times, nor his own set of choices that let to the illicit side of life. He would like to find his father, possibly to kill him, or perhaps to ensure stability for his family.
About me: newer player, just started in one other PBP.
Backstory: Alvara has spent most of her life in pursuit of knowledge and unlocking the science behind magic. Her latest research project has led her here...
Backstory: Virtue was part of a wandering circus, home to an assortment of misfits. The circus has faced tough times in recent years and Virtue has been looking for the odd job to pick up here and there.
I'm sorry, but for you application to be considered, you must pick one of the four classes and races I listed above. (Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, Cleric.) (Elf, Human, Dwarf, Halfling.)
I will try to run another campaign after this one for other classes/races.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Five percent of the people think; ten percent of the people think they think; and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think.
An intelligent man believes only half of what he hears, a wise man knows which half. (Even Esar)
Don't wait for the perfect moment to strike, strike in the current moment and make it perfect. (William Yeats)
STATUS: Personal Problems, will not be active for a few days.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I'll start a thread tomorrow for the campaign, and we can start posting then.
First I'll show you how to use the dice roller. (It doesn't work sometimes on mobile.)
On the bar at the top of the comment box, if you follow it all the way to the right, you'll see a die showing the number three.
Here's how it works: I'm attacking a goblin with my longbow, (My Dexterity Modifier is two.) So what I want to do is open up the dice roller, pick the number of dice I want to roll (A D20 for my attack roll.) I add my proficiency bonus, (two) and my Dex Mod. So I would add four in the "ADD TO RESULT" box and roll: 22 I have advantage because the goblin doesn't know I'm there. Next, if my attack hits, (Usually you would roll this with the attack roll to save time.) I roll damage: (Plus two from my Dex Mod) 5 (This time you want to use a D8)
Rolling ability scores: Go to the ability score section of the Dice roller, leave number of abilities on 6, and under reroll ones, select once. (This varies by DM, so make sure you check first.)
Any questions, please ask!
Could everyone do a practice run on this thread please:

Yeah, if you delete a roll, and try again, it has anti cheat measures to let the other players know you changed you roll. (I'm not saying you cheating, just explaining.)

Does half elf fit under elf? If not, will go elf or human; feel free to ignore the gnome wizard...
Sorry I did not realize! I will update my application now
The Half-elf is fine. But the Gnome, is not, sorry.
So far we have 4 people: (Assuming your using the Half-elf) 1 rogue. 1 fighter. 1 Cleric. 1 Wizard
Polarbearr, no problem!
(Edit: Added Polarbearr's Wizard.

I'll put together a wizard to round out the party!
No problem, would prefer to play the rogue anyway! Keeping him as Half-Elf. Thanks!

After many clicks, I think I have figured out the dice rolling :)
Do we need to fill in the Character Builder sheets before tomorrow too?
Yes. You can use the stats you roll, or SA (Standard Array.) it gives you the choice in the character sheet.

Sounds great.
I will roll a new set of scores below, I think I edited the first post too many times with the dice rolls and it now has that red banner.
Ability scores: 12 11 15 17 14 15
These scores look too high. Happy to use the standard array numbers instead for fairness unless everyone also rolls really high!
