Name: Ares Race: Human Class: Fighter-Arcane Archer 4/Wizard-War Magic 4/Sorcerer-Draconic Blood 2 Alignment: Chaotic Good Background: Soldier Backstory: Ares has been a solider for as long as he can remember. As a youth he followed the war campaign caravans, helping as they go. Eventually, he was inducted into the Archer Battalion. he served with distinction and was about to juster out when he overheard an old man talking about, "There being a higher form of Archery that the elves know,". Intrigued Ares sought out an elf who, after some goading, pressuring, pleading and, money changed hands, started teaching the human. Ares was a quick study and had the knack for it. Ares served a few more years then after meeting a friend who had gone on to become an adventurer, Ares decided to muster out and try his hand and it became the best decision he ever made. Ares joined up with a few parties here and there and eventually took up magic as well. He found, through experimentation that, though he could study the spellbook he had found and learned magic from it, there were spells he could cast on his own. Ares also picked up a unique skill that let him cast spells while he was holding his bow so, he started to aim like he was shooting his bow and casting. This has given people the impression his magic is only through his Archery, which it isn't, he just likes the idea of it. Now Ares is out to find new challenges to test his skill, magic, and resolve. Name: Brennt Cinderblaze Race: Fire Genasi Class: Druid (Wildfire) 8/Monk 2 Background: Outlander Alignment: Chaotic Good Backstory:
Born under the watchful gaze of the legendary Phoenix, Brennt was always... peculiar. He had a natural affinity for fire which complemented his outward appearance. He lived most of his life in a small town in an ancient forest wilderness, where elementals like him were few and far between. Naturally, as he grew up and his elemental powers began manifesting themselves more fully, Brennt was chosen to be the town guardian. The years went by relatively peacefully, until one day the smell of smoke filled the air. Brennt tried to warn the townsfolk, but they just continued on with their merry lives. He wanted to tell them that he could sense a wildfire approaching, but they wouldn't listen to him. Eventually, as the blaze drew nearer to the town, some of the townsfolk finally decided to evacuate, but the others decided to stay until it was too late, leaving Brennt no other choice but to save them from a certain fiery death. The flames overran the town as Brennt tried to save what few possessions he could and escape himself. However, as he tried to run away, the fire caught up to him, and he began to realize that not even he could escape the flames, so he resigned his fate to the blaze. Little did he know that the same spirit of the Phoenix that watched over him at birth was watching over him again, this time in a different form. As Brennt lay unconscious and burning, the spirit breathed an aura of warding over him, protecting him from the harm of the flames, and stayed by his side until the rains came and doused the blaze.
"It is not always easy, losing the things you love," the spirit told Brennt. "Someday, though, you will understand."
Brennt thought nothing of these words until a few years later, after he had joined a druidic circle; and as the forest began to regrow, so grew an aching in his heart, a longing for answers. Where were the people he had grown up with, and protected those years before? And why did he need a trial by fire? Eventually, searching through the forest of his home, Brennt found his old friends, safe and sound, in a new settlement close to the coast. They had told the authorities about the incident, and were told it was connected to a charge of arson within the forest. Arson. Someone had purposely burned down almost the entire forest? Seething with rage, Brennt determined from then on to enact revenge on the one who had ruined his old life and the lives of those he held dear. However, the wildfire spirit who had once protected him appeared again to reprimand him, saying, "Why do you allow this incident to change you in this way? Do you not understand? The deed is done; forgive and forget."
Brennt tried to take the spirit's words to heart -- he practiced meditation in solitude to try to calm himself, and he tried to put his past life and the incident out of his mind. Now, not quite as vengeful as he once was, Brennt took it up to first protect others as he did in his hometown, and then defeat the enemies who had caused the damage. He would call on the wildfire spirit for help and evaluation on his progress.
"Do you understand now?" the spirit asked him during one of those meetings.
"I believe so," said Brennt. "The things we love never really leave us, as long as we keep them in the forefront of our hearts. Before vengeance, before anything else. Peace first, violence second."
"Good," the spirit replied. "As long as you stay committed to the ones you love, I will be with you."
So Brennt and the spirit became trusted companions, Brennt calling on the spirit in his times of need. With a newfound determination of protection before vengeance, Brennt set out to make a difference in the world.

Backstory: i always loved my people. but one day, when i was 13, the Githyanki gith prepared to attack my people with hundreds more troops than we could ever muster. so i did the only thing i could, the unforgivable, i went to the mind flayers for help. i searched the land for the mind flayer, and finally found them, and asked for audience with the elder brain. after telling the elder brain my conundrum, the elder brain said "i will give you part of my power to defeat your enemys in return for your service." i thought long and hard about it, and decided it was worth it and took the deal. on my way back, i stole one of the mind flayers swords. when the Githyanki attacked, i killed them all with my new powers. after that, i expected to be a hero to my people, but instead they, hating and fearing the very thought of the mind flayers, banished me. nut my mission was accomplished, i had saved my people. i went searching for something to do with my powers and found a town where a man in a tavern, in return for some money, told me that i could became an adventurer, so thats what i did.
