I am looking for fairly active players to run through curse of strahd. I may run a short quest just to introduce the party to one another. I will try to run the game through a discord server if possible.
I try to adjust my DMing to how the players enjoy the game. we can work out the details and all I ask is that you let me do my best to tell a good story.
To apply just give a rough outline of your character and I will pm you for discord link and more information. You can roll stats here or later or just use point buy/array. I am also up for homebrew classes if I can review them first.
I wish it had been Goblins, they kill quickly. Too scared you might fight back. The wolves don’t care, they start to feed while you are still there; breathing your last breath, shedding your last drop of blood. They tear out your throat first, or at least most of it. They leave enough behind to keep you head still attached and your eye balls rolling. Then they go for the stomach. The tearing sound, like old leather and then the smell. They tracked us for days, leering in toward the fire each night as bold as brass. Pa would shout, they’d run and then they would be back. They took my little sister on the first night when she wandered too far from the fire. That broke mother and they took her two nights later as she stumbled out into the darkness mad with grief. Pa kept them at bay for a time then but as starvation set in and the cold took his strength the beats grew bolder. They hurt him bad. On that last night as the fire died he lifted me up into the branches of an oak and set himself against the trunk.
When the moment came his roar of defiance died on his lips. Yelping sounded from shadows, snarls of feral panic followed by a sound that was not lupine at all. It was not wolves that came shambling from the darkness to take my father. I wish it had been wolves. My little sister came first tottering forward with wide eyes and a gaping maw and behind her came mother her bloody dress torn to ribbons. He did not fight back... I watched as he sank to his knees his head shaking.
What happened next is a nightmare I care not to remember...
I've never played Curse of Strahd before. The character concept is a special cleric of Llira (or equivalent local deity) who goes around to spread her message and raise her profile. He will be divine soul sorcerer but I'll be playing him as mostly a cleric.

Name: Bas
Race/Class: Goblin Monk
Background: Guild Artisan
Bas trained at the Moonbow Monastery which is north of a small town outside of the grand city. He chooses not to bring up his past and prefers to say that his life began at the monastery. The elven monks taught him to brew beer and to believe in himself. One of the elves, Ke'vi Randl also taught him special tavern defense techniques the Jewels Kick between the legs and the Stabbing with a blade. Bas, along with his fellow monks, travel the world in search of new beer recipes to add to their collection. In exchange, they offer to teach brewers now to brew elven beer, which is just a simple lager blessed by Sehanine Moonbow.

Ability scores: 10798913 Character Name: Drogar Stonefist Character Race: Half-Orc Character Class: Monk (Open Hand) Character Alignment: Lawful Good Character Background: Faction Agent (Order of the Gauntlet) Character Backstory: Drogar Stonefist hails from Waterdeep, the City of Splendors. He's the younger brother of Yagra Stonefist, who has aligned with the Doom Raider's Zhentarim and is Davil Starsong's bodyguard. Drogar and Yagra's parents were killed when they were younger, and the two half-orc's were taken in by local temples. Yagra and Drogar have chosen to live different lifes, and have become estranged.
Drogar has remained in the temple he was taken by. The Halls of Justice, the temple dedicated to Tyr, the God of Justice. Drogar has aspired to align himself with the Order of the Gauntlet in his early years, and that has become his goal. He's become a student of Hlam, the Grandmaster of the Even-Handed. His monastery resides on Mount Waterdeep.
Upon reaching adulthood, Drogar has become a devout follower of Tyr, Hlam's best student, and an initiate of the Order of the Gauntlet. He's achieved his goals, except for one; retrieve his sister from the Zhentarim's clutches. Much to their dismay, his superiors told him it was foolish to pursue such goals, claiming that Yagra is lost forever. Drogar refused to believe that, and would spend his free time trying to find where she resides in Waterdeep.
Drogar and Yagra meet each other in adulthood, after being estranged for nearly thirteen years. Drogar of the Order of the Gauntlet, and Yagra of the Zhentarim. You may expect how their conversation transpired. Yagra wasn't willing to change her lifestyle on a whim and Drogar wasn't able to convince her otherwise. The two came to blows, which ended abruptly since they were at the Yawning Portal and their fight was stopped.
Since that day, Drogar's newest goal was simple; free his sister from the Zhentarim. He knows persuasion is insufficient. He'll have to look beyond her and onto those that employ her. Will igniting a war with the Zhentarim be the justifying way of getting Yagra away from them, or will he just have to let her go and move on with his life? Tydir is taller than the average dwarf - meaning he stands about 4' 10' with a lithe build for someone who still clocks in close to 200lbs. His mop of hair is in a constant windblown state, the blood-red mane falling to his shoulders and blending into his bushy beard.
Dressed in practical dark clothes from head to toe, Tydir is rarely seen without his worn, salt-stained cloak and leather boots. His armor has been carefully inlaid with strands of silver and copper, worked to suggest storm clouds and lightning bolts. The hilt of his hammer is similarly tooled. Those who have met him, would have mixed reviews of the quiet dwarf. Many would report that he had a placid demeanor, appeared happy to help anyone in need, and is slow to anger and quick to forgive. Others would have encountered a cyclone of activity, furiously attacking tasks and driving those around him like a hard taskmaster.
Class: WIld Magic Sorcerer(will go into Bard later)
Background: Entertainer
Backstory: Hank Wayword was born a couple hours after his parent's most famous performance, and has ever since had an unnaturally lucky stage career. His parents were considered to be some of the most famous performers in Waterdeep, and he has grown up on stage, starting to perform at the age of 6. Many years later, at the height of his career, his skin magically turned blue during the best performance of his life. Everybody in the audience started to laugh, and when he realized his skin was blue, left the stage with tears in his eyes. His parents disowned him for being a "freak," and he now has dedicated the rest of his life to studying the strange magic that has affected him.
I did a point buy, but I can redo as a dice roll if you want. Dov Ben Yakov, human rogue (Calishite, charlatan background)
Ability scores: 12, 16, 11, 14, 10, 15
Background basics: Short con operator and son of a short con operator. Thorn in the side of his local thieve's guild in the largest city on the coast of the Calish Sea. Known to them, and wanted by them, but not big enough for them to be actively hunting him yet. Father's whereabouts are unknown, possibly in prison in some small town on the Calish Coast. False identity is a Tethyrian refugee from the interior desert off the Sword Coast.
My background details are somewhat flexible and I'm level flexible.
Don't know if there's still room at this point, but I'll throw my human fighter, Wilhelm, into the fray.
Ability scores: 10131113149
Wilhelm was lucky to be born into the prosperous and easy life of the upper class. The Westervel family were nobles who were in good favour with the richest and most powerful people in the land. Born second behind Frederick, Wilhelm looked up to his older brother from an early age, his adoration for his sibling rivaled only by his affection for his mother. The term 'Mother's Boy' was one of the few that could anger the otherwise collected youth. This is why, as the siblings got older, and Frederick took a liking to a more debaucherous lifestyle that their quality of living allowed, their parents disapproval steadied Wilhelm, determined to follow a different path. From early on, Wilhelm's potential was recognized by his parents, and his tutors. He was considered nothing short of a prodigy. His eagerness to learn was matched by his ability to comprehend material that should have been far beyond his years. In dueling, he proved to be more and more of a match for his elder brother as he got older, and, due to his brother's love of alcohol and late nights stunting his own potential, it would not be long before Wilhelm surpassed him.
Being told that you are the best does things to ones ego, of course, and Wilhelm is only human. Being sheltered from the outside world and praised for what he might one day, be, Wilhelm started to believe himself above others, and above the extravagant, wasteful lifestyle of his older brother. Making his parents proud, and bringing honour to house Weservel became the sworn conviction of young Wilhelm. Then, something would happen, that would make Wilhelm understand that more than honouring his family, bringing them happiness was more important to him.
Frederick had run away from home after an argument with their parents, leaving only a note of explanation behind. He had been gone for months, and despite hiring the best men possible to track him down, their parents were without their first born son. It had broken Wilhelm's heart to see his mother so mournful, and his father turn to the same addictions that had plagued their now absent son. Wilhelm was conflicted. He knew that his place was at home, with them, continuing his studies, and one day, in Frederick's place, taking on the position of family patriarch. But they were a family fractured without Frederick. He could bring pride to their home, but never could he see them truly smile again, this way. Though conflicted, Wilhelm reached a decision. For the first time since their childhoods, he took after his older brother, leaving home in the middle of the night. He left behind a note, explaining that he would bring his older brother home, so that they may be a happy family again.
