Greetings everyone! I'm posting a recruitment thread for an additional player for my Waterdeep: Dragon Heist PbP campaign. We had a player inactive for over a month and I had to remove them from the campaign. I'm now seeking to backfill their position.
The current party composition is: Fighter, Rogue, Barbarian, Wizard, and Warlock. The previous player was a Cleric, and was the only healer class. With that being said, I'm restricting the applications to classes with healing capabilities, such as: Clerics, Paladins, Rangers, Druids, and Bards.
The party is nearly complete with the first chapter, and they will be advancing to level 2 shortly. For your application, your character will be level 2 and will be introduced to the campaign at the conclusion of chapter 1.
TL;DR - Applications available for Good aligned characters only, with class restrictions of Clerics, Paladins, Rangers, Druids, and Bards (classes with healing abilities). Races will be limited to Player's Handbook, Character advancement is Milestone, Standard Array for stats, and you'll be rolling for Gold instead of choosing Equipment. Once your gold is rolled, you can use the gold to buy any equipment from the Player's Handbook.
Character Name: Character Race: (PHB only) Character Class: (No homebrew, UA, or CR content) Character Alignment: (Good-aligned only) Character Background: (No homebrew, UA, or CR content) Character Backstory: (Go into detail about what your character is doing in Waterdeep. Are they a native, or tourist? Are they a fisherman, tailor, blacksmith? Perhaps a merchant or former city guard) Character Gold: (This is where you'll roll your starting gold. You'll find the formula to use for your class here. You'll need to use * to multiply instead of x. So it should look like: 5d4*10.)
I'll keep recruitment up for a few days, in which I'll send a PM to the player I choose once I close recruitment. We're playing the campaign Pbp on here, and we'll use Discord for our OOC discussion, so you'll need to have Discord as well.

Character Name: Filean Ranthoris Character Race: Half-Elf Character Class: Bard (Lore) Character Alignment: Chaotic Good Character Background: Sage Character Backstory: See below
Filean Ranthoris is a charming entertainer who fancies himself a bit of a scholar. He grew up in a mid-level (neither fancy nor scuzzy) brothel in the City of Waterdeep, the son of a human "lady of ill repute" and an unknown elf client she never spoke of. For most of his life, he got by on his good looks and strong personality, picking up some skill in song and story, often working at the tavern that was the "reception area" for the house of ill repute. Filean was a bit flighty, but kind-hearted, and he helped keep an eye on things to make sure that the meaner clients didn't mistreat the ladies. Though he was not particularly tough, he was often able to manage situations, defusing trouble with is quick wits and silver tongue, keeping things running smoothly. He was always interested in learning about anything and everything but had few resources. He hoped perhaps to one day enroll at the bardic College of New Olamn in the city, but that was little more than a dream.
As he continued to dream of going to the bardic college, Filean began to look for ways to find money. One night, he followed a somewhat elderly client who appeared to be wealthy, thinking he might try to rob him for coin, or see where he lived so he might burgle his home next time he was in a dalliance at the brothel. Filean's heart was not capable of such a deed, and he tried to overcome the guilty pangs as he followed the man through the shadowy streets.
Then, fate took a turn. As the man crossed a narrow stone bridge over water, a would-be thug tried to rob the man. Filean, with a sudden surge of heroic duty, rushed up and pushed the robber over the side of the bridge into the water below (a stroke of sheer luck, Filean had to admit). He made the sure the man was all right and helped him home. He didn't seem to recognize Filean from the brothel.
The man's residence was indeed impressive, and as they stood outside the elderly man smiled and asked how he could ever repay Filean for helping him and possibly saving his life. Filean simply blurted out "Could you send me to the College of New Olamn?"
Quite unexpectedly, the old man smiled. "You know, I do know someone there who might be able to help."
Just days later, Filean, somehow was enrolled at the college. It turned out he was an excellent and diligent student, taking to the study of all manner of magic and bardic lore. He has just completed the early part of his training, and his teachers are encouraging him to move beyond just spending time at school and entertaining crowds on the street or in taverns. They tell him there are great mysteries and adventures to be had, even right here in the streets of Waterdeep.
So, Filean is keeping his eyes and ears open, looking for an opportunity to go on an exciting adventure. It's the next step in his journey, and he plans to tackle it with gusto. Of course, he will also be looking out for his mother and her friends, as well as his wealthy patron and his colleagues at the college.

EDIT: I think I screwed up the die roll for gold. Maybe I can reroll. Initially it looked like I rolled 12 on my 5d4, but now it's reading all weird. Sorry about that.
Character Name: Merten Ironkettle Character Race: Mountain Dwarf Character Class: Ranger Character Alignment: Neutral Good Character Background: Folk Hero Character Backstory:
Merten grew up in a remote Shield Dwarf village far to the North of Faerun. Traveling with his father, a merchant, for weeks at a time, Merten got to see much of the world, including Waterdeep, a city he found so alien and different from the small mountain mining village he grew up in. After one such trip, after Merten and his father returned to their village to find things somehow...different. A hag had come to town in their absence, and corrupted the townfolk. Merten and his father fought back, and after a long battle, they had triumphed, though his father had suffered mortal injuries. The townsfolk, embarrassed by their behavior under the hag's sway, raised money to send the young dwarf to Waterdeep where he can find his own way, and not act a reminder of the town's failings. Merten arrives in Waterdeep fresh off of burying his father and still nursing a burning hatred of all fey creatures.

Aubree was born in a bandit camp in the middle of the Kryptgarden Forest close to the village of Amphail. After much debate, the father decided to bring Aubree away from the bandits in hopes of finding a better life for his newborn daughter in Red Larch; the mother stayed behind.
Life was going fairly well for Aubree and her father until she reached around 10 years old where her father was caught stealing to help pay for the taxes. Aubree was sent to Waterdeep to an old friend of her father, Dworic Frostbeard, as her father does his time. New in Waterdeep, Aubree grew accustomed to her new setting, she became an apprentice to the dwarf as an alchemist in the Dock Ward.
Growing into an adult, she grew to be a decent worker in the business, well enough to be able to send her father coin, who is currently trying to start his own business. She also became a devout follower of the dwarven goddess Sharindlar, Lady of Mercy and Life. She'd volunteer at local shelters or temples helping the sick, using her concoctions to assist as well.
Character Gold: (This is where you'll roll your starting gold. You'll find the formula to use for your class here.) 14 *10 = 140gp
Backstory - Belorin Bridgewater was the son of a peasant human woman and a noble elf father, a man he never met. Being raised by a single human mother was hard especially being the only non human is his village. His one true passion was to hunt. His mother gave him his first bow at the age of 12 and she taught him how to use his surroundings to his adventure. He was always better than his mother his wood elf parentage shining like a beacon when he shot an arrow. By the age of 18 he could hunt, track and stalk prey through the forest.
This was until the orcs came. They slaughtered his entire village. He only survived by jumping onto a horse before they got him. He rode for hours until he collapsed onto the ground. He awoke in a city surrounded by medics tending to his wounds. The city was Waterdeep.
I'm in interested, I have a character in mind (a ranger) but I was wondering something. How will you run the campaign? will you use a forum here or you'll use Discord? because if it is here I don't have any problem, but if it's in Discord I'll have to check my schedule to see if I can join (I'm from South America, so I need to know the time zone and the hour when you'll be playing).
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my message. Hope you'll answer soon.

Character Race: Hill Dwarf Character Class: Druid - circle of dreams Character Alignment: Lawful good Character Background: Sage Character Backstory: Rangrim is a researcher fascinated in the mystique of dreams. He has long been in Waterdeep, doing research for a small group of wizards in the divination college. They called themselves the Nightseers. Unfortunately, there is a paucity of material on the nature and interpretation of dreams in academia, but that did not deter him. Rangrim's obsession over interpretation of dreams was eventually deemed unfruitful, or "a dead-end idea" by the group, and he was expelled. Determined to further his work, he was able to ally himself with druids, let go of some of his old scientific methods, and embrace the mysticism of the natural world. With new-found backing and encouragement from his druidic circle, he is learning more about the dream state than ever before, especially how to harness that natural energy and channel it into a beneficial life-energy. Character Name: Yadu Sonith Character Race: Tiefling Character Class: Bard Character Alignment: Chaotic Good Character Background: Charlatan Character Backstory: By no means an imposing figure, Yadu stands a mere 5'8" with an average-to-thin build clocking in around 135 lbs. He has dark black skin and medium-length, blue-black, curly hair which mostly covers his smallish grey ram-like horns that curl around the sides of his head. An oversized taupe newsboy-style cap sits jauntily atop his head further obscuring his horns. Pointed fangs and eyes of a solid, silvery-white are altered to look more mundane using Thaumaturgy while in public to better hide his heritage. His tail stays wrapped around one leg inside billowy pants gathered at the tops of well-worn-but-still-gleaming black boots. He wears a bright blue tunic of exquisite make and many beaded necklaces and bracelets of various colors and materials all under an indigo cloak fastened at both shoulders with silver clasps. At one hip hangs a crossbow. On the other, a flute tucked into his belt.
As he is more than happy to tell you (in obnoxiously great detail), Yadu is the son of a wealthy merchant from Tashalar far to the south and no stranger to courts and high society. A perpetually restless entertainer, he left behind his life of luxury to see the world and follow his whimsy. After years of travel and witnessing the most marvelous spectacles and experiencing the most spectacular marvels that Faerûn has to offer, he's found his way here - the Crown of the North. Hardly any of that is true. In fact, he comes from very humble, common ancestry in a small village just outside of Waterdeep and hasn't seen or done the vast majority of that which he boasts (though most would never guess it). He's spent most of his life listening for whispers that could lead him to his scoundrel of a father to... Exact revenge...? He hasn't really worked out his feelings on the matter quite yet but he's sure he will have by the time he finds the bastard. From what he's gathered so far, the old man is actually an incubus currently posing as one of the masked Lords of the city. There's no way to be absolutely certain of the truth until he finds him but Yadu is determined get to the bottom of this one way or another. Character Gold:150

Name: Corret Fatrabbit
Race|Class: Stout Halfling Cleric (Trickery)
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Background: Charlatan
Backstory: If effort was a measure for success, Corret was the best conman in all of Waterdeep. However, the stocky halfling was far from successful. His blunt, often rude demeanour worked against his chosen profession. In the past he had been thrown out, kicked out and chased out of many markets, taverns and dives all around the Sword Coast. Each and every time he would call out to the gods demanding help but never receiving.
Coming back to Waterdeep, after a short hiatus, he soon hit rock bottom. His last mark was a conman himself, and a good one. Corret had fallen prey, thinking he held the upper hand and had lost all but the clothes on his back. In a desperate plea he ASKED for help from Lady Luck, Tymora. To his huge surprise, she answered. He stumbled upon a bag of gold. Obviously a merchants purse or something similar. It contained 130 gold. Corret took this as a sign that he was to travel Faerun and bring the touch of Lady Luck's good fortune to others. But while you can take the player out of the con, you can't take the con out of the player. He still seeks to play off other people's misfortune if the opportunity arises.
Thank you all for applying. I've sent a PM to the player I've selected. If you didn't receive a PM, then I'm afraid that I opted for someone else. I appreciate your time and wish you well in your future endeavors.
Character Name: Naoki Keencut Character Race: Human Character Class: Cleric Character Alignment: Chaotic Good Character Background: Soldier Character Backstory: Naoki was a member of the Waterdeep City Guard, until she was given an order she couldn't comply with. Naoki is on a search for a higher understanding of what it is to be good, and how to live out a life of helping others when the rules she believed in don't protect everyone equally. Naoki is now a cleric, focusing on understanding divinity and practicing medicine to try and heal the world. Her past as a soldier often shows through her new religious image as she still has tendencies toward cursing and hard drink. Character Gold: 150

Thank you all for applying. I've sent a PM to the player I've selected. If you didn't receive a PM, then I'm afraid that I opted for someone else. I appreciate your time and wish you well in your future endeavors.
