"A great day this is! Today we set off from this dark land of Charnax and return home to the glorious city of Terrania, where our great crusade began 2 years ago."
Three years ago, the forces of Charnax seized the island of Quadros, home to a colony of genasi, and ally to the great city of Terrania. This was soon learned to be just a strategic point for launching attacks against the city and the nation centered around it. A formal alliance was formed and the fight taken to Charnax.
The Alliance of Light has just finalized the quelling of active violence in the captured capital of Caern. The players are part of the invading army that is going home, escorting Janus, the captured young Prince of Charnax, back to Terrania. The hope is that he can be raised in peace and return as the hereditary monarch when he comes of age to a reformed land. A military governor, Sharnaz, has been appointed to rule until then, and it is believed she will be able to rule fairly and justly.
I'm looking for 3-6 players to play members of the Alliance of Light returning in the caravan. This is a world I'm actively creating which will be informed by the character's backstories and such. This will be PBP, here with an OOC PM thread.
Character Creation: 3rd Level Characters, Point Buy or Rolled 4d6 Drop lowest. (If you don't like your scores you can take the default array.) Take max HP
Allowed Sources: Any official, no guns or blood hunters. No UA
Equipment: Starting equipment for class and background, plus 200 gp and one uncommon magic item. You may roll for gold and add 200 if you like, and can sell starting equipment at 100% of value.

Sounds very interesting. Have a couple ideas for characters that might fit here, we'll roll something up and see what happens.
Ability scores: 171214101617
Name: Aerden, One-wing Race/Class: Aarakocra Rogue (Inquisitive) Backstory: From nearly the moment of his birth Aerden had trained to be a member of the elite Aarakocran airborne fighters. During the initial invasion of Quadros, a lightning bolt from one of the defending wizards clipped him in the wing. He had been lucky enough to survive the attack, but the healers told him he would never fly again. Still committed to the cause, Aerden rededicated himself becoming a spy for the Alliance of Light. Despite some initial struggles readjusting to the new work, he rapidly became a reliable and trusted source of information. Magic Item: Boots of Striding and Springing
Sounds like fun, rolling for now as I work out a character~
Ability scores: 1881410116
Name: Alexander "Qrow" Race/Class: Human War Wizard Backstory: Mercenary Veteran - Born from a simple town, and the son to equally simple people, Alex wanted more from life than what life seemed to grant him. As fate would have it, however, he managed to get his hands on a passing Wizard's spellbook. Borrowing it, he took off with a similarly passing through mercenary band and began training and studying to become someone great. When the Alliance began their campaign to counter Charanax, "Qrow" saw the opportunity and freelanced his arcane services to their cause. Magic Item: Spellwrought Tattoo 1st Level (Mage Armor)
Well, no outright evil characters. Characters need to have had a role in the war effort.
What about unusual builds and/or cheese? Because with the plethora of options there are now, there's bound to be something cheeky in there that can throw a curveball :)
This sounds like a great story. I'd love to throw my hat in.
Ability scores: 111414121613
Name: Falcio Vacarian Race and Class: Human Fighter (Battle Master)
Backstory (subject to change as you see fit):
Falcio was a member of the Redcoats, the six personal guards of Lord Trajian Holt, when the first lethal Charnax incursion into Terrania struck.
The attack had been been savage and unexpected. Their enemies swift and skilled with bow and blade. And while the Redcoats felled many of their attackers, Falcio saw his friends shot or cut down, one by one. He was the last man standing in protection of Lord Holt and his family, but he too was felled by the swordmaster leader of their attackers.
When Falcio woke, healing from his severe wounds, he learned that his Lord and Lady had been killed, their children taken. He had failed to protect them.
When the call to arms came, Falcio flew at the chance to join the Alliance of Light against Charnax. He took up his buckler and his rapier, and he once again donned his enchanted red coat (a Cloak of Protection) He had not been able to protect his charges or his fellow Redcoats. But by the glory of Terrania, he would give them vengeance.
Two bloody years later, he finds himself again fulfilling his duty as a bodyguard, but this time to a prince of Charnax. While not what he might have imagined, Falcio understands the importance of this mission, and of the peace it might finally bring - To him, as much as anyone. He will not fail in his duty again.
Backstory: Deuteria exceled at tinkering and figuring out how things worked when she was younger. She caught the eye of the captain of the local garrison who saw her fighting off an attack by 3 boys much larger than her using her creations. He sponsored her to the royal academy where she learned how to work metal to create marvelous armor and weapons. The Magical Combat Division, whose focus was on imbuing the implements of war with magic, was her first assignment. She proved herself on the front lines successfully defending the second in command of her unit from several waves of enemies when he was injured. She was awarded the prestigious Shield of Fistor, and given a promotion to the rank of sergeant. Assigned to escort Janus back to Terrania, her job to stay close and protect the prince.

Ability scores: 141118151210
Name: Gadoc Mudrider Terrapakata Race/Class: Goliath/Fighter (protector) Backstory: Gadoc's father left his clan to join the Terranian army and overcame his outsider status to eventually become a well-respected and high ranking soldier. While Gadoc's father was often away fighting, Gadoc was raised in the barracks and waited for his father to return (which was sometimes only once a year). He grew up idolizing his father and the Terranian army. When the call went out for soldiers to fight the Charnax invasion, he enthusiastically volunteered. After distinguishing himself during the war, he was assigned to the Terrania Elite Guard, and hoped to stay as part of Sharnaz's protective detail. However, he was deemed too inexperienced for that assignment and was instead assigned to ensure Prince Janus reached Terrania safely. He is a bit grumpy because he views this assignment as a somewhat lowly and boring task.
Alright then. Let's see what I can make with these scores:
Ability scores: 171417131312
Well, those are some interesting scores.
Meet Eddy, the water gensai from the island of Quadros. One of the natives whose colony was overrun by the armies of Charnax, he matured from a simple coastal sailor and healer to devotee of the Tempest, using the power of the wind and waves against the invaders as well as healing the reinforcements. Despite his growth in power, he remained for the most part as placid as still water, so never really interacted well with others who led more turbulent emotional lives.
Now two years later, he is as much a soldier as he is a sailor, conflicted about staying on his island or accompanying the Alliance of Light back to their homes with the captured young Prince of Charnax. Still, his duty to his homeland dictates he see this effort through until its end, so he decides to accompany them in their mission as long as they need him.

Name:Orlan, the protector Race/Class: Variant human, mounted combatant feat, Paladin (oath of glory) Backstory: Orlan was born in one of the great noble houses of Terrania. Unfortunately, it was clear from the start that Orlan had some troubles. He could walk normally, but as soon as someone would touch him with only a hand he could fall over. They let him live his childhood as a normal boy; he grew up to become a boy of normal size, but his strength never increased. His parents had troubles accepting this, as they were a house with a great reputation, and wanted more for their son; which is why they wanted to give him something that could fix Orlan's handicap.
Luckily, they had connections through their nobility and came into contact with one of the great smith's of Terrania, Lazare Lafargue. Lazare was part of a select group of smith's that could channel magic into there equipment and after explaining the situation Lazare said he could indeed make something that could help Orlan. This was how Orlan's parents came into possession of a pair of gauntlets of Ogre power, which they gave Orlan on his 18th birthday. With his newfound strength Orlan wanted to do good and become a hero to anyone who needed help. He went training with the mounted army, and besides that with the clerics of -Insert applicable god of this world-. This training made him a force to be reckoned with; a master in mounted combat, and being able to channel meditating into divine magic led him to the path to become a hero. At his 30'th birthday he took the Oath of glory and when he heard the Alliance of Light was going to move on Charnax he didn't hesistate for a moment and joined the conquest to save the people of Quadros, and to protect his own.
