step 1: start with variant human, pick up polearm master feat
step 2: survive to level 3, pick up the hunter archetype, with the colossus slayer feature
step 3: survive one more level and pick up the mobile feat
step 4: now when you are in combat, you can attack and benefit from colossus slayer, move out of the reach of your enemy without provoking opportunity attacks due to being mobile, and if the opponent wants to attack you they will have to move into your reach and trigger an opportunity attack, and since it is no longer your turn the opportunity attack will also benefit from colossus slayer feature, letting you add that extra d8 twice per round. If you have the hunters mark spell, and you are only fighting a single target, and you hit all your attacks, and have some decent stronkitude, and the opponent is dumb enough to always trigger an opportunity attack, then at 5th level this build can deal like 3d10 + 2d8 + 4d6 + 1d4 + 12 damage in a single turn, and i am not shure but i think that is an pretty large number of damage for an 5th level character to be able to deal consistently every turn for an entire combat
edit: exactly 54 average damage at level 5 assuming a single target affected by hunters mark and opportunity attacks every turn. Neat
