So I'm planning a Gloomstalker build for a game and I've heard some good things about how the subclass works with taking some levels in Shadow Monk and it's sounding fun to try. However, all the points I've read on this multiclass idea are focused on melee combat and I'm planning to focus on ranged combat for this build, specifically with a flying race (Owlin).
Would Shadow Monk levels still be as useful to a Ranged, Flying Gloomstalker build?
I most monk/ranger builds I've seen are melee striking builds. Darkness is also alot better if you can bypass its penalties while forcing enemies to suffer. Beastmasters or blindsight fighting styles would take better benefits( wich seems not I line with your approach. )
Keep in mind that while some magic nys have some ranged ability ( Kensai, 4 elements, others) the monk is traditionally a melee class. I,m not sure what the point of a flying gloomstalker is unless your operating at night nay. Flying around snide a big ball of darkness shooting out of it. I would simply target the center of the darkness with AoE spells and missiles and take you out. I could see a shadow monk- gloomstalker pairing staying in shadows on the ground and shooting from the darkness.

If you really wanted to lean into it a Kensei Archer would be very effective.
However it would be a very heavy investment but it's the best option if you really want monk.
