So I'm currently playing a Tabaxi Gloomstalker Ranger in a dragon heist Campaign and I dont't know if I should get the Sharpshooter Feat at level 4 or if I should go for the stat boost. I have no plans on multiclassing.
My current stats are:
Str 11 (+0), Dex 18 (+4), Con 13 (+1), Int 12 (+1), Wis 15 (+2), Cha 8 (-1)
So I'm thinking either Sharpshooter Feat or 2 more Dex bringing The modifiera to +5, or 1 Con and 1 Wis bringing up two modifieras.
A Dex of 18 at level 4 is fine, especially if you took the Archery fighting style. I'd probably go with the Wis+1/Con+1 and boost both those modifiers. That'll give you some extra HP, a boost to two important saves, a boost to your Perception skill, and a boost to your spell save DC. Beyond Level 4, Sharpshooter is definitely a solid choice, especially if you're dealing with monsters finding cover in fights, or shooting into a crowded area. Resilient(Con) is another one worth considering. You already have proficiency in Dex saves, you'll get Wis save proficiency at Level 7, if you take Resilient(Con) you'll have proficiency in all three major saves. Failing a Con save, especially at high levels, SUCKS OUT LOUD(Finger Of Death, Cone Of Cold, Flesh To Stone etc). Plus it'll help you maintain concentration on spells like Hunter's Mark. Boosting your Dex to 20 is useful too, but honestly it would be a lower priority for me than boosting my defenses, especially with the Archery fighting style.
