I’m starting a curse of strand campaign and the DM wants everyone to start with a free feat at level one. What’s the best feat to represent a swarm (preferably ghost based) for two levels?
You could take Magic Initiate or Artificer Initiate and grab dancing lights as your cantrip (one of two if you take Magic Initiate), and flavor the lights to look like your swarm. If you're a drow and already know it because of your race, double down and take drow high magic for the free at-will detect magic. You could also do the Telekinetic feat, but it kind of overlaps with what Swarmkeeper already uses Mage Hand for.
I am a huge fan of ritual caster : druid or wizard on rangers. Wizard can give you unseen servant and those servants can give out good berries(assuming feeding rules) or healers kits or lay/trigger traps. Alot of ritual wizard spells are good for ghost themes an provide frequent utility for a ravenloft setting.

While magic initiate would probably be my choice anyway, I just wanted to note but with Swarmkeeper you may not need a light cantrip.
For example, on my upcoming swarmkeeper character, my plan is to use the free mage hand with a torch to represent the swarm lighting one of the branches on Legion's body and causing it to hover nearby. The downside to this option is that mage hand requires an action to move it, whereas dancing lights is only a bonus action, but as long as it's in the general area where I need to see it shouldn't be a problem.
Just thought I'd mention it in case it saves on a cantrip choice; with only two it can be very hard to decide which ones to take!
