So the feature beguiling twist can be a pretty awesome way to weaponize a Rangers reaction. It’s worded in such a way that it can build off of ally and enemy charm/fear effects.
beguiling twist:. “The magic of the Feywild guards your mind. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. In addition, whenever you or a creature you can see within 120 feet of you succeeds on a saving throw against being charmed or frightened, you can use your reaction to force a different creature you can see within 120 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. If the save fails, the target is charmed or frightened by you (your choice) for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a successful save.“
interestingly, it’s also written in a way that would allow it to be used if beguiling twist itself is ended. As an example, a wizard casts hypnotic pattern on a 4 of enemies, but 2 pass their save. The ranger uses its reaction to fear one of the enemies, and the save is failed. Ranger has their turn, gets reaction back, ends their turn. Enemies turn, frightened enemy has their turn, rolls save to end their fear effect and passes. Ranger can now use their reaction to cause the other enemy to roll a save to be charmed or frightens, since the previous beguiling twist was stopped by a successful save.
