I am a player, so please no spoilers for Rime of the Frostmaiden
Long story short, I made a rogue to play Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden with a large, relatively well-rounded group that needed one. I originally wanted to add a little artificer for flavor and a little support spells. Fast forward 6 sessions and we lost some players and had the bard killed and rerolled paladin. Now we are a party of three, eldritch knight, paladin/hexblade dip, and me the rogue.
So here's where I need the help. We are about to level up to 4. Do I follow the originally idea and dip artificer for a magic weapon and some support spells or wizard for faster spell progression since we have no full caster at all. Or ditch rogue all together and go forward as a caster (even cleric maybe) or ranger since it's SOOOO wilderness. I have a 16 in INT right now and DM will let me move it to a soft stat if I want to add some caster.
Anyway, any thoughts would be great. Especially on the artificer v wizard multiclass if I stay closer to original idea.
Your party is seriously light on healing, even a 1 level dip in artificer gives you that. Personally I would go into battle Smith artificer. The steel defender gives you in particular, an extra chance to trigger sneak attack.
And if your racial type is small size, u can even use it as a mount
