I am playing an Assassin Rogue and trying to truly embody the sniper assassin through damage, range, and aim.
I have trained in musket for this build, so musket is not an issue, but this can go for any ranged weapon. Also, I will assume max levels for the questions to follow
Assuming I have decent enough INT (16+) could I use True Strike and trigger Sneak Attack also? This has been determined yes, because I am using a ranged/finesse weapon in the spell casting (Musket), correct?
Using the Amethyst Dragon Musket, my damage is 1d10 + 3d6 Force and I get +3 to attack rolls. Assuming I read the whole thing correctly, that means I get True Strike's extra Radiant damage, Sneak Attack, and the muskets Force damages, correct? And if I read that it is only focused on attack rolls for the +3 bonus, I can add that to the "spell attack" of the cantrip?
In other words, at max rarity and level I can use True Strike to fire my musket using intelligence instead of dexterity and still get my +3 from the musket to the attack roll and that will deal 1d10 + 3d6 Force damage from the musket, an additional 3d6 radiant, that then will likely also have sneak attack for 10d6 force damage also?
Now, Sharpshooter has a few wordings that are questionable with this because True Strike is both a spell attack (Cantrip) and weapon attack (Described in description), so would I also be able to use the Bypass Cover option, as it says ranged attacks with weapons? I want to assume yes, as you are attacking with the ranged weapon. I assume I can use Firing in Melee and Long Shots for sure because they mention attack rolls with ranged weapons?
Sneak Attack will work with attacks made with True Strike, assuming a ranged or finesse weapon is used.
All three elements of the 2024 Sharpshooter feat will work with attacks made with True Strike, assuming a ranged weapon is used.
True Strike doesn't explicitly say whether it is a spell attack, a weapon attack, or both; this has been a matter of intense debate over the last year, without any clear consensus or official guidance from the designers. So, in practice, it's something you'll need a DM ruling on. However, this issue doesn't affect Sneak Attack or Sharpshooter because neither of them use the phrase "weapon attack" at all.
